I just got a mailing from Sky Protection, on pink paper no less. The fine print states: "This is an advertisement to obtain coverage." However, the large print is the standard ominous scare rhetoric. "By neglecting to activate extended vehicle protection, you will be at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs once your factory warranty expires."This same day, I received a similar mailing from the unregulated subsidiary of my electrical utility. These come fairly regularly and warn that the water and electrical lines connecting our home are the homeowner's responsibility. The pitch is for an exterior line "protection" plan (insurance). In the case of the Sky Protection sales pitch to me, the company is obviously unaware that my vehicle is fully electric and still has over two years of factory warranty remaining. No one should ever respond to these unsolicited mailing advertisements. A dead giveaway that mail is just an advertisement is the postage: "PRSRT STD U.S. POSTAGE PAID".

Thank you for your feedback.  Sky Protection is a marketer of vehicle service contracts for third party service contract companies.  Sky Protection provides a valued opportunity for consumers to make an informed decision whether to purchase coverage to protect their investment in the event their dealer may not have offered you the opportunity to purchase one when you acquired your vehicle.

Like what everyone else is saying. I got a letter in my mailbox, the paper was pink, which usually signifies urgency. Reading through the letter it is ambiguous, but deceptively sounds like my vehicle service agreement has not been activated and that my Warrenty will expire if I dont activate my coverage. It uses language that if you carefully read it they are able to explain away by saying you have not contacted US to activate a vehicle service agreement and warranty expiration is based on the mileage and age of your vehicle. Call now to activate your coverage. Which is all general statements, but it could be easily interpreted as meaning that they are affiliated with your current warranty. I only noticed after reading someone elses comment that towards the bottom of the page there is small text in a different font stating that they are not affiliated with any dealer/manufacturer. This text is above where it says in bold, Call no later than: July 5, 2024 Very deceptive. I hope these businesses and practices are put to an end and that those in charge of these types of scams face their due consequences.

this company sent a elderly relative of mine a scam letter about a warranty on their car, but dummies that they are, it came to my address instead with their name. I knew what it was, told them about what they were trying to do to them, and they shredded it. They should do something about this company, that is taking advantage of the elderly and harassment as far as I am concerned because I too in the past have received their stupid mail. This company doesnt even deserve a "one" rating but the site wont let you give no rating which it does deserve.

In May 2023, I purchased a used car and an expensive warranty from a dealership in **********, *******. A few weeks later, I received mail from SP Activation Services, stating that I needed to activate a vehicle service agreement for my vehicle. The language in the mailing was purposefully ambiguous and urgent, making it sound as though they were affiliated with my dealership, and that the warranty I'd purchased would expire if I didn't contact them with my VIN number. The language at the bottom of the mailing stating that they aren't affiliated with any dealership is extremely and purposefully tiny, and in a different font, making it exceptionally hard to read (see attached). This is purposeful, and I'm sure their legal team has deemed it's barely legible inclusion as just enough to prevent criminal liablity in a court of law. Thinking this company was affiliated with my dealership, I contacted them, and a representative told me that I needed to give them my VIN number, and that there would be a one time activation fee of $167.23. I explained that I'd already paid over $3000 to my dealership for a warranty and protection, and the SP Activation Services representative I spoke to simply reiterated that there was a one-time activation fee of $167.23. At no time during the call was I told that SP Activation Services was not affiliated with my dealership, and at no point was I told there would be a recurring monthly charge. I have since learned from BBB reviews that this company DOES withdraw funds monthly. I was also told that in a couple of weeks, I would receive a package of documents to keep in my car in case I needed it for future claims. I never received this package. I am demanding a full refund of the $167.23 immediately. I have also contacted Illinois Attorney General ************************* office with details of my interaction with SP Activation Services, and am actively researching regional ************* outlets to bring this to the attention of the press.

This is an unquestionably fraudulent company, and the **** the call center representatives and the lawyers involved with this company should be doing hard time in prison. I will be contacting this company Monday morning to cancel the nonexistent coverage and get the full refund that is promised within 30 days of purchase. For the first time in my life, I fell for a scam, thinking these criminals were affiliated with the warranty package I'd just purchased from my car dealership. The representative clearly told me that I'd be charged a one-time fee of $167.23. I can't wait to get a response from Sky Auto Protection/SP Activation Services about how I was told there'd be a monthly charge, because that absolutely DID NOT happen. I was also told I'd get a package of documents to keep in my car in case I needed it to cover and claims. Surprise! Three weeks later, no package of documents. And that supposed "prominent box wherein it advises the recipient that *** is not associated with any dealer or car manufacturer"? That "prominent box" the company responses tell you is right there on the mailer if you were only bright enough to know how to read? Well, the box itself is prominent, but the disclaimer that they're not affiliated with your actual warranty (despite pretending that they ARE affiliated with it) is in print so tiny that you need magnifying glass to read it. The company responses about how "we understand that customers sometime change their mind" are as insulting as they are jaw-droppingly patronizing. Scamming people is bad enough. Making it seem like the victims are simple-minded children for falling for the scam is beyond obnoxious.I have contacted Illinois Attorney General ********************* about Sky Auto Protection/SP Activation Services, and have provided details of my fraudulent interaction with them and others on this BBB page. I am also actively looking for local ************** outlets who cover consumer fraud and are looking for a story lead.

I would like to thank the people who were kind enough to write a brief summary of what this company does. Thank you for your clear warnings of what your experience was with this deceptive firm. Appreciate you taking the time to write a note. Thank you BBB for publishing these messages. I received the same letter from SP Activation Services today!

I wish zero stars was an option! Whatever you do, do not give them your card or your time. This business is an absolute scam and lies to people about car warranties. I genuinely have no clue how they got my information, but apparently, they did. I received a letter stating that I needed to get a car warranty, pretending to be from my dealership.During my first phone conversation, I said I already had a warranty from my dealership, and the representative claimed that they were that warranty and I just needed to pay a one-time activation fee, and then I wouldn't have to pay again. This was an utter lie because they set me up for a recurring payment plan totaling over $4,000, which I was never informed about and is utterly ridiculous. When I called to cancel, they were exceedingly rude and gaslit the entire situation. I finally managed to cancel, but something seemed very suspicious. So, as any diligent person would, I called back several times to make sure they actually canceled my "coverage." I currently have my bank and a lawyer on call in case they continue to try to steal my money with monthly recurring payments. On their so-called website, it says you can cancel at any time, and I have my "cancellation reference number" as proof. I also have recorded phone conversations where they confirmed my cancellation and assured me that I will not receive any more charges to my credit card beyond the ones already made. I have spoken with a lawyer and have all the necessary proof to legally dispute this if needed. Please do not follow in my footsteps and trust this awful, lying company. I wish there was a way to shut them down entirely; its so sad they try to do this to hardworking people.

Thank you for your feedback. We ask that you re-review the letter you received. Sky Protection is a marketer of vehicle service contracts for third party service contract companies. The letter contains a prominent box wherein it advises the recipient that Sky is not associated with any dealer or car manufacturer. Additionally in this same box it identifies the name of the service contract companies depending on your state of residence. When you initiated the first call to our customer ********************** department on May 13, 2024, at no point did you mention to our representative you had coverage, nor would we have the ability to know you had previously purchased coverage. We also never misrepresented Sky Protection to be any company other than the company that was identified in the solicitation you received in the mail. Our representative clearly explained the benefits of the service agreement, advising the fee would be $235.53 recurring for the first 18 months and no additional fees after the first year and a half. The representative explained services included all electrical and mechanical repairs and 24-hour roadside assistance. At this point you agreed to proceed with purchasing the service agreement and provided the representative with your credit card information. We understand that customers sometimes change their minds so when you called again on May 13, 2024, our customer ********************** representative promptly assisted you in the cancellation process as requested. Please let me know if I can assist you any further.

My daughter recently purchased a new vehicle and purchased an extended warranty as part of the purchase plan. She was then sent a letter from these shameless thieves stating she needed to call to activate her warranty. Fortunately, before calling the number provided, she sent me a copy. After reviewing the "notification" I called the dealership and found out that Sky Auto Protection was not anyone they do business with and to ignore the letter since she was indeed covered through the warranty selected at the point of purchase. They told me this was a common tactic used by unscrupulous companies to lure people in to purchasing additional coverage that they do not need, or already have. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not fall for this deceptive marketing.
