I recently opened an account here after being members of a PA based credit union for 20 years. Within 3 months, Ive had fraud activity TWICE where they froze my account and didnt even notify me. I realized the issue when my debit card was declined, The first time resulted in being issued a new account number, new debit cards, and checks (which I demanded for free since they are not cheap). The hassle of changing direct deposits and automatic payments was annoying, but was grateful they caught the fraud. Three months later, it happens again. The customer service rep told me to have my devices professionally cleaned as I probably have malware. Funny, none of my other accounts have been compromised. I will be marching myself into the branch today to close my account and switching back to my old credit union (lucky for me I never closed my account there)). I only recommend if you dont like having access to your money.

Suncoast came through. Specifically, "**************." at the ******* Branch (******/****************). I was hit by an internet Paypal scam for $13K over the long New Year's weekend. I discovered it, but couldn't do anything about till everything opened back up Tuesday, 2 January- no sleep, worried- all of it. I was waiting on the doors to open (****), and was the first customer- ****** took me to her desk, I explained the situation, showed her my proofs, etc..she calmly and professionally- and very nicely- reassured me all will be OK. She corrected my original "disputes (26 transactions for micro-amounts)- She had a 5th option in the selection window that the customers do not see/have, and she worked all of them one-by-one- she did this with me for almost 3 hours! Bottomline- she helped get my money back, and helped me set up different accounts to prevent further pilferages. Plus, the recommendations about possible spyware at the home PC, etc...as for Paypal (which was the vehicle to do these thefts)- while on the phone with them- and ****** pulling up the name, transaction ID #'s, and everything- Paypal couldn't "verify"- (over the phone maybe)- But they know who it was- and it originated from them, using my account info. Anyways, this is for ******************* - of Suncoast Credit Union- Thank you, Thank you! You are my bank- I was considering of course of pulling the rest out, and running away- but you more than earned my confidence and trust. Thank You! I was despondent all New Year's- but so very relieved come the second day of the Year! You saved me. Thank you!

I will not EVER refer ANYONE to bank with this credit union! They will not work with me on anything! They gave me an extension on my auto loan for Nov-Dec 2023, but took the Dec payment anyway, and now claim that they can't refund it back to the account it came from. Instead, they deposited it into my savings account with them, knowing full well that I cannot access it because I moved out of state and do not have an atm card or branch to visit. They were supposed to email me a document to apply for an atm card, but still have not sent it to me. DO NOT open any account with Suncoast Credit Union, and if you already have accounts, I feel sorry for you!

Terrible customer service, they will put you on hold for over 30 minutes simply because they refuse to do their jobs and by the way always expect a hard to understand accent and rude behavior I my self am a customer service agent and have an accent and I have never treated someone with as much disrespect as they have treated me. Glad it's only my personal account I have with Suncoast and not my business as these people are a nightmare to deal with.

I used to like Suncoast, however, that opinion has definitely changed. Depending on who I get when I call in, the customer service is horrible. With that said, I did recently call in and the girl that I walked with was amazing (even bragged on her to her supervisor). However, previous people have been horrible. But that is not the main reason I am giving this bank one star. The main reason is because when I first got my account years ago, I was told it's the "teachers bank". They are for teachers and want to help teachers. However, I have learned that they are more for themselves than for the teachers. I bought a house and Suncoast held the loan. When I sold it, it was considered a short sale but I still had to pay back the amount that was owed (which confused a majority of other financial institutes). When I did move out of state, they wanted me to make the final payments as if I was still paying on the mortgage. They didn't care that I had other bills and a rent to pay. They did make a payment plan for me, however, it was consistently reported that I was delinquent because it wasn't the total amount... talk about a huge hit to my credit score. Then, when I did pay it off, they didn't even realize it and called asking why I wasn't making payments! Now, I still have a credit card with them and because of their BS policy, they refuse to change the due date so I am always "late". I have explained I only get paid at the end of the month since moving. Their solution, make a double payment on month so from that point on I will be ahead. So, I am supposed to pay them twice in a month just so I stop getting late fees since they refuse to change my due date. I have talked and asked about this multiple times and get nowhere (just the same, we have strict guidelines). If this bank was truly for people, they would learn how to work with them. Not always make it to where their credit and bank accounts take a hit! I wish I NEVER banked here!

This response is being provided by ******* (ID ****), Senior Member Escalation Analyst with Suncoast Credit Union (Suncoast). Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your mortgage and credit card account with us. We partnered with the leadership in the Member ******************** to review your concerns in greater detail. Our research confirmed that Suncoast shared the impacts of the short sale and your responsibility of the deficit with you on 4/21/2015. As discussed, the payments were required to satisfy the remaining balance owed on the mortgage. We have confirmed that the mortgage was paid in full and is reporting accurately. Although the credit card due dates set by **** are unable to be changed due to regulatory compliance,Suncoast offers an array of assistance options that can fit our members needs. We confirmed that you were able to discuss your options and request assistance on 12/6/2023 with an Advisor from the Member Solution Team. Our parents are members of SCU. We followed in their footsteps and have been members for over thirty years. Tomorrow we will be closing our account. I needed to transfer funds around today and accomplished a $1,500 transfer no problem. I then went to make another transfer and received a notification pop up that only $1,000 max transfer allowed a day. So I called and the lady informed me it was changed a year ago. I explained we want it removed and asked how to accomplish that. She refused. We deposit ~$300k annually into Suncoast and like every red blooded American want unhampered access to all of OUR money ALL OF THE TIME! My husband then called and requested to speak with a manager, THE LADY REFUSED TO PUT A MANAGER ON THE PHONE. Make no mistake, our accounts will be closed tomorrow. Over $1,000 they will now lose $300,000. Sounds like they have some of the brightest minds working at Suncoast, or actually not working. Take your money elsewhere!!!!!!!

Never had any issues with this bank, been using them since 2019. They were always by my side if I needed to deposit a check through an ATM or the Mobile App, dispute a charge or refund an overdraft fee. Until October 13th 2023, I'm working a job outside of the **************** (where I live, which I also told them I would be doing, as to not place any holds on my account) so I've been working this job for about 2 weeks now, cashed via the mobile app at least 4 checks of varying amounts (nothing over 2k). Long story short they freeze my account, demanding I produce this letter from the check issuers bank, well **** of America wouldn't make me a letter. 30 days past still nothing. Back in ******* now, I go to my local branch to get some clarification on this issue, I'm told it could take up to six months! Meanwhile my account is frozen with 1,200$ in it. Criminal if you'd ask me. Thankfully the job wasn't over and so I still had cash coming in otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make it home, pay my bills, etc. Beware if you decide to bank with them they can and will freeze your account if you decide to deposit money.
