I decided to end my contract with Network Solutions and transfer my business to another provider. I notified Network Solutions at least a month before my termination date. Every time I called them they a) tried to get me to stay and b) gave various excuses for why the transfer of my domain name was not going through. They delayed until after my contract with them had expired. They then told me the only way I could transfer my domain name was if I had a current contract, so I had to buy another year- long contract from them. This is clearly a scam. I did pay for another year, was able to transfer my domain name elsewhere, and then terminated my contract with Network Solutions. I would like my money back.Customer Answer

Hi
the business did contact me and sent me the refund I had requested. Thank you for intervening - I am sure that is why they responded to me.

****** is a web hosting company which I have used. I tried to cancel but could not get thru. I called and emailed all of their sites and they all came back undeliverable. When I called the message stated they were having problems with the phone lines. It appears they may be out of business. If so how did they get my money?Initial Complaint

Many years ago, I worked for a non-profit called RainbowRec, and we have had our website domain registered with Network Solutions since then.5 years ago, I left the organization, and I transferred the Network Solutions domain's main contact to ***** ******** who remained at RainbowRec.Out of nowhere, my credit card was charged by Network Solutions for this account. I contacted their support to let them know this was fraudulent, as they're charging my card for this organization's domain name renewal, and without my permission.I requested a refund, which they offered, but then they later recharged it. So I issued a chargeback to my credit card company. I got the chargeback, then they recharged me again. I charged it back again, they then fought the chargeback, providing materials from ***** ********** account, not mine, even though their support acknowledged the fraud originally. They won the chargeback, even though, again, this isn't my account, it's RainbowRec's. Then they stopped responding to my *********** request is that they refund me this money and ensure that my credit card is permanently removed from their records so it can't be charged again.Initial Complaint

In late January my Email (******@****.com) abruptly stopped working. I already had trouble with my domain host (Network solutions) and their appalling lack of support. You did help me a lot with the in the past. The only way to contact them is a busy phone number. When I got through I was informed that I needed more disk space and multi-year service contract to get my Email working again. So I let them charge my City credit card ending in 0001 for $207.69 and $378.86 on 2/3/2025. I also decided right then to drop them for good. I transferred my domain to Bluehost later on which was completed on 3/18/2025. As stated in Email and letter to them, I want reimbursement for Network solutions for their multi-year "service" and disk space that I will never use.Initial Complaint

I have been locked out of my business *********************************************** January 2025. I have made numerous unsuccessful attempts to comply with Network Solutions updated security policy. Upon reaching out to customer service multiple times, they have asked me for sensitive information beyond what the policy states, including a color copy of my US Passport, despite continuing to pay my domain bill. I recently received a bill dated 3/12/25 for $336.59, which I informed them I wouldn't pay until access to my domain email was resolved. I still have not been able to resolve this issue, and I am looking to BBB for assistance, as my 20-year-old business email has not been working and has affected my business. The irony is that the only way Network Solutions is willing to restore my account is by contacting me through the email account, which they are not allowing me to access.I look forward to hearing from you soon to resolve this matter.Thank you.Sincerely,******* *******Initial Complaint

On January 14, 2025, I transferred four domain names to Network Solutions. The website stated that the charge for each domain would be $9.99, totaling $39.96. I authorized this amount, but shortly after, four additional charges appeared on my credit card, totaling $163.40. These extra charges were not disclosed during the transaction. Believing my account was compromised, I reported these charges as fraudulent to my credit card company. On January 23, 2025, I contacted Network Solutions to understand why my domains were marked as "inactive." I was informed that the extra charges were for an additional year of registration for each domain. At no point during checkout did I select or authorize additional years. I only agreed to the $9.99 per domain fee for the first year. After explaining this to a Network Solutions representative, an escalation ticket was created. However, the follow-up email stated that my domains would only be activated if I accepted the additional charges. I do not believe it is fair or legal to demand payment for charges that were not authorized.I called again on January 28, 2025, and after a lengthy discussion, the representative informed me that the Escalation Team would waive the extra charges and my domains would be activated within 48 hours. Despite this assurance, my domains remained inactive. After two more calls, including my most recent on February 28, 2025, Network Solutions insists that I must pay these unauthorized charges to activate my domains. I was informed that I could request a refund afterward, but it would be at the discretion of a supervisor, which I find unreliable given the circumstances.Resolution Requested:- Immediate activation of my domains without the unauthorized charges.- Assurance that such practices will not be repeated in the future.I believe these practices are deceptive and unethical, and I am seeking the BBBs assistance in resolving this matter.Initial Complaint

Network Solutions called our Manager ******* ******** and talked him into buying a domain and started charging our credit card $12.11 for 8 months until we canceled our credit card.
Usually, a domain is only a one-time charge and it does require a monthly fee.
We want to transfer the Domain (******************** from Network Solutions to our provider. I called and emailed Network Solutions more than 6 times regarding the transfer and they told me that they're going to help but they haven't provided any assistance.Initial Complaint
