Our first car came with malfunctioning brakes and an engine that wouldn't go faster than 60mph without shaking apart. It was dirty. The 2nd vehicle was dirtier, but at least it worked. Kind of. Customer service was non-existent. The counter agent at O'Hare talked to me like I was the most worthless pos in the world but then didn't know how to fill out any forms what so ever. He was my counter agent BOTH times at O'hare, so that was fun. He acted like it was my fault the car has major braking issues and engine issues because I could really do that the whole 15 miles I drove the thing. The 2nd vehicle had its own problems; couldn't lock it most of the time, which you know would've been nice in Chicago. No one gave a single eff that people could've been hurt or injured by a vehicle with improperly installed and incorrect brake pads, never mind it was hardly running; I was jerked around by Hertz for the entire day and I can't even get someone to reach out and offer a half-arsed apology.

Trashy a** customer service. A rep was literally arguing with me on several different attempts to speak to a manage. Seems like they train their staff to do this when the manger is suppose to be the person that the call should escalated to. Why do you as a regular rep wanna argue with a consumer that has paid to rent one of you me vehicles. Large corporations company need to invest in an extensive service training call asap. Still have not after a week spoken to a customer service manager that was suppose to reach out over 2 weeks ago.

They dont maintain their vehicles properly. I had 2 cars have tire issues in 3days and they charged me for 5 out of the 3 days the car was in my possession only giving me a $65 credit after overcharging. Spoke with a supervisor who was disingenuous during the conversation about the inconvenience and was still given the same response. No email was received in response to my complaint with pictures and mileage but read over the phone to me. Im furious and want a refund. From the *** wait time to receiving the second rental wasted a day. 2 days they couldnt get anyone to pick up the car at the location I had to pull over and catch a Lyft from with 2 children and suitcases. This is unacceptable

Hertz loyalty program is a SCAM. I tried to use points an the online program doesnt allow you to do this on line. I spent an hour on the phone to use try to redeem $25K dollars work of points. Their stories kept changing. First I couldn't rent a certain class of car, then I was told they have black out dates and the points will now be 4X higher than what the last agent told me. Then I changed the location and was told I can not use points for that location. I was also told that certain car classes had black out dates...only the ones I wanted to rent. The story keep changing as I tried to accommodate their mystery guidelines. DONT BOTHER RENTING FROM HERTZ and DONT ****** BEING A MEMBER OF THEIR LOYALTY PROGRAM....ITS A SCAM!!

If I were stranded in the middle of the desert, and a Hertz rental was the only way out, I'd walk. The rental car broke down. Employees will not make any effort to reference, itemize, close, explain, discuss, confirm, or deny any of their line item charges to my rental contract or its inaccurate charges of almost $8,000. Hertz :Consistently disavowed knowledge of pertinent information.Directly contradicted each other.Ignored Hertzs stated official policies.Changed Hertz's official policies to benefit each rental location Refused to take responsibility by referring me to a different division.Denied me the right to speak to a supervisor, except one. That employee ignored at least a dozen requests for contact before responding.Ignored email requests for resolution Denied and hidden from me the existence of a Director of Operations Excerpts from Hertz employees follow, including their own spelling, punctuation, and grammar:There is no manager and hasnt been one for some time.I can see the breakdown [of costs] I cant tell you about it.I dont know who is in charge of the tow bill. Its not my responsibility to fix that bill. Thats not what Im here for. There is no breakdown [of the charges]."We cant change anything on the contract. It doesnt exist....cannot help because we dont do billing systems for franchises.A supervisor wont help. There are no supervisors available. They are helping other customers.*****************************, the "Director of Operations Eastern **************," knew about and ignored all requests. Then, I uncovered her email address.Excerpts:"I have [not] even looked into thisyou are not giving me time to see what I can do for you [after 100 days]I apologize on you getting incorrect informationwith all your threats [I'd told her I'd share facts with the Better Business Bureau] I am not able to move further. The document detailing the facts of Hertz Corporations failures is 18 pages long.

Worst rental experience. Ever. I was told to bring the vehicle back to my repair shop with only a 1/4 of a tank. My experience has always been returning vehicles with a full tank, but the agent assured me they just needed enough fuel to bring the vehicle back from my repair service shop. Well, that was a big lie, as I was called today after returning the vehicle with a 1/4 tank. Had Hertz not told me that, I would have filled it up. I'm very surprised that a brand like Hertz willingly commits fraud to be able to apply redundant fuel surcharges to customers. I will never rent from here again. They deserve 0 stars, not 1.

Hertz Harry Reid Airport left me fuming. I pre-booked a Tesla Model Y, but upon arrival, the ordeal began. They made me wait for an excruciating hour. Finally, they handed over a dirty Tesla Model 3 with only 70% battery, despite no mention in the paperwork. Las Vegas' scorching September heat necessitated functioning AC, but the one in the car emitted a vile odor. The tipping point was the unauthorized switch from the Tesla Model Y to the Model 3. This was a blatant false advertising ploy. When I called customer service for a resolution, I was met with someone barely fluent in English who displayed shocking rudeness. Not only were they unhelpful, but they also refused to provide a refund to adjust the rate. Adding insult to injury, I requested to speak to a supervisor, but was told that they don't connect calls to supervisors, insisting that I send an email instead. This evasion of responsibility is simply unacceptable. Hertz's actions during this experience were unprofessional and disrespectful to customers. My Hertz Harry Reid Airport encounter was a disaster. I feel cheated and mistreated. I'll be sharing this experience widely, urging others to reconsider renting from Hertz. This company has lost a once-loyal customer.
