1 starI booked online at one location which I had to switch 1week later bc the location was closing why was I allowed to book it then? The was told to cancel my reservation and switch it I would be charged a cancellation fee, then my reservation would be rebook and I would be paying different rates after much back and forth and being told I wasnt allowed to speak to a supervisor because that is hertz policy the reservation was rebooked with no extra charge fast forward to pick up day and I was told my credit card number was put in wrong, which doesnt make sense because my card was charged and I had done my new reservation over the phone. I was told I just had to call corporate customer service and tell them just to modify the card numbernothing else they proceeded to charge my card 2 more time, cancel my reservation and tell me I owed anther $240 I was SPECIFICALLY told that I would not be charge again and they werent booking a new reservation I told the lady that she didnt have permission to charge my card again and she reassured me there was no charge, she was just changing my card number then charger me another $260 I need up just canceling the rental and Hertz pretty much ruin a family vacation. Im still waiting on refunds and am now getting a lawyer involved.Review fromCarol H

1 starI was denied renting the car after they declined my credit card - Equifax NOT my bank - and then declined my debit card - again NOT my bank - which had sufficient funds of the rental plus the $500 deposit leaving me stranded at the airport with no transportation. I was on a business trip for the ********** ************** and missed a whole morning of meetings scrambling for transportation. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again.Review fromAlyssa G

1 starMade a reservation a week in advance. Upon picking up, no car was available.***** the "manager" at the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional to myself and my wife because we had asked why no one called in advance to disclose there was no vehicle available to pick up. Mind you I'm traveling from MA to ** for a funeral to say the least. I was advised to drive an additional 20 mins to another location to pick up a car.Once I arrived at the other location I waited over 2 hours to receive a car.The car provided was not cleaned or looked over. Tire leaking air with other lights on the dashboard. Smelt of cigarettes with burn holes in seats.I went back in and told the employee and was told to still take the car and swap it out at an airport on my way to my funeral.I used my personal EZ pass to cover tolls from Mass to **. Over a week later was charged by Hertz for tolls i have already paid via my ezpass with receipt statements. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a rental company and will never use this service again. I will be sure to spread the word about my experience to my family and friends.Review fromChanel G

1 starHERTZ IS A COMPLETE FAILURE FOR A CAR RENTAL SERVICE I rent 15 cars per year, and rarely from Hertz, this time I gave them a try again. I reserved a car at Tthe ************ Airport, but there was no agent at the counter upon arrival. I called customer service and they had the reservation, and stated I'd have to wait 2 hours until the agent checked back into work. I waited 2 hours, he said: "we have no vehicles". I went outside where the Hertz lot was full, and took a picture. the agent said he couldn't help me. In complete desperation for transportation, I went to the competitor's counter and the only vehicle they had was a truck, the rental was $120 MORe for one day than the reservation. I rented the truck. I reached out to the executives at Hertz in FL who handle the reservations and received an email that they were looking into this. They then emailed that the Ceder Rapids branch has to take care of this. So at this point, no facility had refunded the difference in rental amount. Totally irresponsible car rental company.Review fromJayden P

1 starThe security guard here gave me his number if I had any questions about a vehicle, I ended up calling him a day later to ask a question about the car, he couldnt answer this question and said hang on a second, I hear in the back ground him asking an employee if he remembers (me and my aunt) but the way he described my aunt was awful especially since I overheard him and what he had said, he said and I quote do you remember that ***** that was yelling and the guy who rented the ***** electric car he has a question and proceeded to hand the phone to the other employee to answer my question. My aunt never yelled she used a tone of voice to the lady at the counter because who was being disrespectful and wasnt able to do her job correctly, she kept interrupting us as we tried to tell her that we went through triple A (you cant rent a car if your under 21 unless using a credit card unless your under triple a I guess??) thats besides the point she never yelled but the security guard has the audacity to call a customer a *****, this guy needs to be talked too. If he has the role to help customers out he should be trained customer service or just be a security guard and keep his mouth shut and not offer people his phone number. I want a refund or an apology to my aunt.Review fromJav D

1 starI rented 2 minivans in August and unfortunately ended swapping minivans due to a crack windshield suddenly appearing while driving Hertz ended charging me 500.00 dollars for the repair. I had no insurance but was cover 100% with my current car insurance. I requested a n itemized receipt at the returned location and was told they don't provide that type of receipt. I emailed "customer relations" and Hertz E- Return with ** ******** at least 5 times in the past 2 months (I can forward proof if nesessary) asking for an repair itemize receipt showing the windshield repairs charges so I can forward to my car insurance for reimbursemnt. I received the same replied we will forward the concern to the local office and will get back to you! I was also provided multiple phone numbers to call from Customer Service Number , Claims Dept and Customer Relations and all of them were not able to help since the repair was already paid. Hopefully this complaint will get to the proper teams engaged so they can send me the itemize receipt. Let's not forget I was also charged twice for both minivans gas when I filled up both tanks the morning of the returns. I ended emailing a copy of both cc receipts and received most of the refund! All I want is a copy of the itemize receipt.Review fromPatricia R

1 starRented a compact car from ******************, ****** ** from Sept 19th through the 24th. Upon pickup, I was informed only electric cars are available. I told the attendant I had no experience with electric and requested a gas powered vehicle. I was not given any guidance from the attendant about a different vehicle aside from, "sorry, this is all we have." When I asked about charging stations, the attendant responded "they are everywhere, you'll be fine." Our getaway was the ***** Mountains in *************. It was quite challenging to locate a charging station and understand how to navigate doing this. Then it took HOURS for the car to charge up. It was quite inconvenient as there were no charging stations within 2 miles of our motel. After taking the time to look up information, we figured out we needed to download an app to locate the stations. Ok, did that, but many stations are Tesla only. We lost several hours of vacation time waiting for the car to charge up enough to get us to ************* to visit family. When the car (a Chevrolet Bolt) was fully charged, we got about 175 miles out of it. Again, it took hours to charge up the car. This caused a lot of strife during our vacation. Hertz should have something available in the glove box with information about accessing an app, what to do once a charging station is located and how to use the charging station machine. Had we known this information from the start, I believe it would have saved much time. Upon getting to ************* on the 23rd, my son noticed that the brake lights and reverse lights were not working. Be mindful when renting with this company. Don't leave the lot if you are not satisfied with the vehicle they are providing. Hertz told me I should have called roadside assistance about the lights not working--- then what--- wait around for hours to get bulbs changed? The attendant clearly did not complete a safety check prior to my leaving the lot.Review fromZAFAR M

1 starYou will be ripped off at this location! I was returning a rented car from ***** location (honest people) At ********* location the person in charge started charging me for a full tank while the paperwork clearly was saying I picked it at half tank. Also, he was charging me for an extra 3 hours while the pictures were showing I picked at 2:30. I had to go true hoops to call the ***** location and they explained it for him that everything is clear on the portal, so he apparently accepted it and when I left later checked my account, surprisingly he had overcharged me again, now I have to complain to the authorities.Review fromMichelle R

1 starCharged $400 for smoking, not true. Hertz agreed verbally and it was refuted it w/Bank of America. Now, 3.5 months later, I am sent a bill ******** Washing," $400. BS. Wish I could attach evidence. Now, will probably go on my credit report. IMPOSSIBLE to speak with a person & definitely not an US English native. NEVER again will I rent from Hertz. Avoid Dollar (multiple names). Dishonest too. We need a negative rating. This is corrupt. BS. An Extreme Aggravation for a car that was parked in valet at *************************, **********, ******* for 2 days! BS. Thinking an Uber or Lyft was cheaper to and from the airport & without this AGGRAVATION. !!! NEVER AGAIN.Review fromJames H
