1 starOne of their drivers hit and damaged my vehicle. I’ve waited for a month for an adjuster to my case and received no help. My car is damaged and whenever I call, I am told that I need to wait for an adjuster. No information was provided to me as to why I must wait so long and I am still in the “pending” state for getting my vehicle repaired. Everytime I call, I am on hold for 30+ min and then the people on the phone are very rude. HERTZ sucks as a company and have no hesitation to take your money but when they do damage and rent these cars out to crazy people, you as a the victim must beg and plead to get any sort of help. HERTZ = CRIMINALSReview fromJean B

1 starDo NOT use Hertz. I had to pick one star, but would have rather picked no stars for them. ALL of their employees lie!! I never leave reviews, but had to this time. I had a reservation for Hertz through Expedia for my rental. They did not honor the fees at all and charged me four times the rate I was promised. Then when I tried to fix it after my trip, I was told it was because I had asked for an upgrade, which was 100% false! I had also called Expedia for help and they convinced them I asked for the upgrade and they too were finished helping me. There is so much more to this story, I am not going to bore you with the details, but when I rented the car, they lied to me about so many things and sent me on a wild goose chase for the return of the car to a place that was closed and then I got charge late return fees. I was ridiculous. I also filled the tank on my return and it showed up as such on my return sheet and they still charged me over $50 of fuel charges to fill the tank. What??? Yeah. Run from Hertz.Review fromCatherine W

1 starMy husband and I went to Trinidad for a family funeral. The car they gave us the brakes were bad grinding on the disk. We called the hertz office and they wanted us to drive it back which was an hour and half away. We were afraid to drive the car. They then called back and said we could drive it 40 mins away for a different car. We had no choice but to do so. We were in the middle of planning a funeral and had to do borrow someone's car to get the running around done. When we took the car to exchange no apology no condolences no compensation for all the trouble. When I returned I got a survey from hertz and stated my experience. They said they contact me in 72 hrs never happened. Now for over 2 weeks they keep saying a supervisor will call back. That never happened either. I don't understand how they can rent unsafe cars. We are going for vacation in December there and I am staying clear of hertzReview fromRichard M

1 star1. Hertz charged me $133 more than they were supposed to. Did they send me a bill explaining it? No. You have to REQUEST the bill containing the extra charges and they will send it you in SEVEN DAYS. I am not making this up. So shady. 2. I called about the $133. I was told that $25 was a cleaning charge. The car was pretty clean when I turned it in. They refunded the $25 without much hassle. How many times do they charge an extra $25 and the customer doesn’t notice it or doesn’t call? 3. I was told that the other $108 was because I stole the EV charging cable from the car. This is such a scam. I had it in the back seat originally because I couldn’t actually figure out how to get the trunk back open (I’m not proud). The fellow at Hertz who checked the car when I turned it in was kind enough to help me open the trunk so that I could put the cable back in there. Obviously, he watched me move the cable from the back seat into the trunk, which just makes this even more infuriating. Hertz has refused to refund the $108. Twice, they have promised to have a supervisor call me back since speaking to one was not an option, apparently. Over a month has passed with neither a phone call nor the money they stole. I intend to sue Hertz in small claims court. I am not going to let them get away with this.Review fromvictor a

1 starI was given an Electric Vehicle that was not fully charged. The vehicle ran out of power on the freeway after driving it approx 150 miles. The distance on a fully charged vehicle of this type can avg up to 400 miles. I had to get a tow truck since this car was dead. I was told by the SMF mgr on duty the fee for roadside assitance would be waived . The fee was not waived and I called the Executive office to have them contact the mgr who had promised it would be waived,.. They refused to reach out to validate with the mgr, said there were no notes. NEVER AGAIN HERTZ OR THEIR BRANDS - Maybe this is a scam,.. they give you a less than fully charged e vehicle so that it can break down and then they can charge you for the roadside assistane... Crooks, Liars,.. dishones business practices,.. Executive office agents located overseas... Bad impression overall.Review fromAlison C

1 starWould put zero stars. This business is awful and needs to be shut down! We had a reservation and we got there from the airport to get our car and they said they wouldnt honor our reservation because we were late which was not true. They did not offer to help set another car rental up or help us find a way. Instead they told us we can make another reservation on line but when we get here tomorrow they may not acknowledge the reservation anyway and that we were just screwed because no one in town will have a rental car available for us. Shut this place down! They are so mean and the one lady behind the counter was drunk. Not good business!!Review fromTracey W

1 starUpon pick-up, I stood as the only person in line, observing three workers discussing a cell phone image. The gentleman of the group looked directly at me and then continued to ignore me. He walked to the back, without acknowledging me. After 5 minutes or so, I walked up to the counter. I asked the person assisting me how come they ignored me standing there. In the rudest tone possible, she responded, "Because you're not in line. The line starts over there", as she pointed to the left. Ignoring the fact that I was standing directly in front of them, under a sign. She said, "That's for "Express"." Soooo you mean to tell me, you ignore your "Express" patrons? Ok. Moving forward, I had chosen the "Wild Card" selection. The image showed a car, with 4 doors, a a trunk to hold 2 small bags and 1 large bag. She told me they were giving me a pickup truck. Now, I'm heading to New York City a pickup truck is too big. Based on my past experience and the website's image and description, I expected I would receive a small economy size vehicle. Not a big pickup. I asked if we could change it. Continuing in her rude tone and demeanor, I stated that our energy was off and I would be better off working with someone else. She asked me to move to the side, and called for the next customer. I told her was not moving and that I would like to speak to a manager, at that point. I waited for nearly 20 minutes for a manager. Believing that the poor customer service issue was isolated to one location, I have also rented from FLL and PHL, in addition to EWR. They have all been terrible. However after this current experience and being deliberately hung up on now three times at the 800 customer service number, it is becoming apparent that this is very well the norm at Thrifty. If any of my calls and video of my interactions are reviewed, I keep a calm tone. There's no reason for a person like me to receive poor service. What is my recourse? How does Thrifty right my wronged experiences?Review fromCurt S

1 starI rented via Hertz through the AAA website. The AAA site had a purchase ahead of time rate that was favorable so I paid ahead. Upon renting the car, I was asked to purchase a handful of additional options, which I refused. The only thing I agreed to was to pay fuel upfront so I wouldn't have to refill before returning. I also asked to add my wife as a driver, which was free thanks to AAA. I was then asked to insert my credit card for payment and sign for the fuel add-on and to confirm my wife as a driver. What I didn't know is that I was also signing for premium roadside assistance and damage waiver that added $207.92 to my bill. I am now stuck with roughly $300 in extra charges on top of the $300 I already paid via AAA. This is incredibly dishonest way to conduct business. I have called Hertz to dispute the charges. They said I "agreed and signed" for these services, which I guess is technically true although I was expressly told I was signing for something else. The only way to dispute the charge is to have Hertz send my claim to the rental location to review. That takes 5-7 days and they couldn't even guarantee I would hear back from them without having to call back. Just a horrible customer experience. Not that one customer matters, but I will never do business with Hertz again.Review fromGregory A

1 star************:Hertz doesnt even deserve 1 star. We made a reservation for a car in May. We showed up in September and the apathetic worker looked like she hated her job. She told me they only had one car left and it was an electric vehicle, the ***** Bolt (not what we reserved). I asked her what its charge level was and she said 30%, which would only take us 80 miles if we didnt turn the ** on. We needed to get from ************ to Boston but thanks to these incompetent employees that wasnt about to happen. She told us there were several chargers around. Since she said that was our only option, we had no choice but to take the car.We found a charger in ******* which wouldnt work initially. After finally getting it to work after ***************************************** 11 hours. My wife, 9 month old son, and I were sitting in the hot car while we waited. My wife was hyperventilating from stress and my son was crying from the heat of being parked under the sun without **.Meanwhile, I called multiple Hertz locations to see if they had any gas powered vehicles but they told me there was nothing they could do and they had nothing available because they were Over-booked. Every Hertz employee I spoke with lacked empathy and told me I was out of luck.I finally gave up trying get one of these people to help us and called Enterprise. They actually spoke to me like they cared about their customers. They had a vehicle available and I was more than happy to return that vehicle we hadnt even wanted in the first place.I later emailed Hertzs corporate office regarding our negative experience and how ridiculous their system was. They merely responded with Were sorry but theres nothing we can do.This goes without saying but I will never give Hertz another dime and wont let any of my friends and family become victims of their terrible business practices. I really dont understand how theyre still around, but Ill take my hard-earned money elsewhere.Review fromRaynette V
