Very disappointed in Hertz I recently rented a car with them upon picking up the car I denied any insurance and fuel for the car. After they made me sign to check out I noticed they had added extra insurance and fuel cost totaling $426.83 but all they said was since I signed the pad they couldn't do anything about it I tought I was signing to get the car and go not the extra insurance and fuel they snuck in there. They only credited me the fuel charges which was $53.45 not the extra insurance $373.38. I wonder if they get some sort of commission for all the extra stuff they add to your rental.

This company will very likely charge you an additional fee beyond what your rental agreement contract shows. This fee will be demanded when you pick up the car and are in a no-win situation which is exactly what Hertz realizes. This company has no qualms about scamming its customers.Take your business elsewhere.

I patronized my local AAA to schedule my Thanksgiving trip to ** from **. We picked up our rental car at the ***** airport. AAA distinctly confirmed I wanted no extra car insurance. The woman at the Hertz airport service had on headphones and never made eye contact. She asked for my credit card and instructed to sign & initial many blocks on the form. I am disabled and the flight was ***** so we were tired. My bill came and I was charged an extra $167.97 for what I thought i signed as a " waiver" ( meaning I opt out) of this additional insurance. Hertz will not cooperate and the bill shuld be credited . Very frustrated and disputing this charge on my AMEX

I wish I could give zero stars. I am livid!I prepaid for my car rental, to be picked up from JAX at 12:30 am on 11/29. I arrived at the terminal at 12:20 am. I didn't see anyone and the counter looked dark. I walked around for a bit to see if I could find anyone. No luck. I got back in line at 12:25 pm. I thought it was strange since they were supposed to be open until 1 am. I went to the other vendors and was told that they saw the employees leave earlier. Another rental car company attempted to look for them for me. No luck. Then asked if I tried Dollar rental as that was their sister company - they too had left. I was and am, so angry. I rode for 45 min to get to the ************ dropped off and had to have my ride turn around to come back to pick me up, then drive another 40 minutes back home. My niece was in a car accident two weeks ago and is having complications. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery two days ago. I told her that I would be there when she got home on Wednesday. Well, that's not happening. I could have rented from Sixt, but I have already paid for this rental and the agreement says no refunds for cancellations. I need it to be known that I did not cancel - rather the lazy employees decided today would be a good day to leave early, even though there were existing reservations in their system.

First time renting a car from HERTZ and will be my last. When I showed up with my husband, they wouldn't use the credit with his name on it to purchase the rental car because my name was on the reservation. They said the would have to rebook the entire thing under his name in order to use the card. Okay, fine. Then they charged a fee of $40 to add an additional driver - This is insane to me as we are married, on the same insurance, and they charge for me in case I drive the car. They didn't even tell me there was a fee to do this and then they charge 15% tax an additional $43.63. I booked on Expedia and the total cost was $243 and by the time they were done adding fees and all the other extras my total was $100 more then when I originally booked. For those who rent cars please use Enterprise as they do not charge additional fees for married spouses to share a rental car NOR do they refuse your payment even with proof of ID.

By far the most excruciating, terrifying, unprofessional experience I’ve ever had with a car company. This was my first time renting through HertzNovember 21st. I went to pick up the car, as I was doing the check-in the woman explained to me at the front desk that I had an electric vehicle. Immediately I explained to her I did not want an electric vehicle, and I apologized because I was unaware. I explained to the representative that I was driving to North Carolina from New Jersey and I needed a vehicle that was reliable to get me that far. She ASSURED me the electric vehicle will not be an issue, she told me to download the EVgo app. I downloaded the app and because I was in New Jersey there were more stations available. I do not have an electric vehicle and I’m not familiar with them.I asked her again can she change my vehicle because I didn’t want to risk it, she told me they had no vehicles in their lot. I asked if there was any way she could get me a car from another lot, she again told me no. At this point there’s nothing that I can do. It's two days before Thanksgiving a day before I need to travel and I was in a very tight spot. I told her I will take the car, again I had no choice because the representative made no effort to reach out to another location to see if they had a car available. To make matters worse they gave me the car charged only at 20%, with two flat tires in the back. I had to pay to get the tires filled with air, and I had to pay $58 to have the car charged before I left. She said there’s no air pumps at the Ferry Street location, nor are there any electric chargers. I drive the car off the lot and have to go through a rabbit hunt to find the nearest electric station, being that the car was already 20% charged and the mileage was dropping rapidly. Two hours for the car charge and I realize there’s only 168 miles in the car. The drive to North Carolina was 596 miles

It is very bad experience to pickup car from hertz. They dont have the model Y I reserved, give me a model 3 without telling me it is a downgrade. Refused to refund the difference. When I booked from Expedia, the tax is $70 pay when I pickup car, but hertz charged $129!!!

Reserved & paid for a car 3 months in advance. When we went to pick up vehicle they did not have the size of vehicle we reserved. They tried to stick ** with a little crossover or a truck. Hertz also informed us of a charge of $13.50 per day for additional driver which was my spouse was going to be added to my credit card. When we returned the vehicle on time as per reservation, they informed us that there would be taxes added to the extra charge for an additional driver. So in the beginning the cost was $777. When we picked up vehicle and additional charge of $162 was being added for my husband to be able to drive the vehicle & then upon returning vehicle the $162 became $182.66. We do not recommend Hertz.

Reservations made 11/16 returned vehicle same day but they close ticket out 5days later causing additional charges of $400 along with $200 deposit after vehicle returned and have spoke with 6 representatives over a 4day period along with Supervisor stating monies will be released in 24hrs it's now 72 hrs and when call to complain they make you hold for 2mins while they search for supervisor, purposely drop your call and when call back they said Supervisor will call back it's been over 24hrs then call back they send you over to Reservations ,call back again told Supervisors not 8n on Sunday! They should be out of business

Hertz is very unprofessional. I rent through them for ride share. When you call customer service you are on hold for hours. No one comes back on the line to let you know theyre still working on the issue. You have to wait and pray the phone doesnt hang up. They love to transfer you to the wrong departments. This is by far the worst company Ive dealt with
