      Greetings. I would not recommend using this company for a car rental. I reserved a car and because of a family crisis had to cancel. I cancelled 3 days before my pickup date. The company charges me $50 cancelation fee!

      Someone stole my credit card and used it to run up charges with hertz. I called Hertz to ask them to please remove my credit card from their system, and they refused. They said that I would have to reach out to the thief, and get them on a threeway call, and have their permission to remove my payment information. This is fraud and I am in the process of hiring an attorney.

      Unfortunately I didn’t check these reviews before renting with Hertz. I’ve always been an enterprise member but decided to go with hertz for costs as this trip is to see my mother with stage 3 cancer. I was told AFTER I signed the contract that there’s an additional fee for other drivers if you’re “not a gold member” which I’m assuming not a lot of people are given their service. When I called corporate to try and get this waived I was basically told no cause you signed the contract. Ruth at the corporate office with badge # **** was incredibly rude, talked over me, was condescending, and genuinely spoke in a manor that I find hard to believe is accepted at any company. Then again I guess Hertz is okay running business this way because idiots like myself still rented with these clowns to “save” money. Best part, I ended up spending MORE with hertz for a vehicle I didn’t even ask for because that’s all they had when I have had this reservation for almost a month. AVOID THEM. Go with Enterprise. I promise, you’ll end up saving money and peace of mind.

      Rented a car to travel to NYC from Boston after Christmas. Confirmed rental on Monday and prepared for the trip. Received a call few days later, 2 hours before the pickup time from Hertz saying they did not have a car available. Frustrating but figured they blamed it on Expedia, so I guess they have some miscommunication there. Okay so try to find a different car: totally unhelpful service they don’t even bother to try and suggest another car. Calling around all over and finally find a location downtown Boston to take a car over, they increase the price to $450 for 4 hours drive, but I get it it’s the holidays. Problem is trying to confirm this car as well I called the local Boston 30 Park Plaza phone number 6 times and got no response to confirm reservation. I go in there and fortunately they have it. They also have allegations of price gouging. Avis was a much smoother process.

      Hertz practice of holding funds for deposit, although standard for the industry, is borderline criminal. My experience with Hertz has been extremely frustrating. I rent from Hertz as a rideshare driver through the Uber program. Every Friday, Hertz puts a hold on my account for the agreed upon rental amount, then charges the agreed upon amount a few days later. The hold is supposed to be released at the time the actual amount is charged; however, on several occasions, this has not happened, and Hertz has kept the hold on my card for several days; even as much as, up to this point, 27 days and counting. As of this communication, they have two(2) holds pending simultaneously. I have contacted Hertz several times, and they blame my financial institution, saying it is incumbent upon my bank to release the funds; and as you can imagine, the bank says it is Hertz responsibility. This back and forth is both confusing and frustrating. As a consumer, I have no way of knowing who is right, or if both parties are responsible. Can you help get the relief I seek?

      Hertz acknowledges that I declined the monthly toll pass bundle for $700 on my rental (I have a copy too). They then charged me $700 for a monthly toll pass bundle. When I called to ask about it they said I have to speak to a third party they do business with but the charge on my credit card says Hertz Tolls. I've been using Hertz for 30 years, I will no longer be using Hertz. Unbelievably dishonest.

      They overcharged for my rental, and have been pulling money out of my account in the weeks after I turned my car in. They are engaging in fraudulent activity. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. They owe me over $500, and have continued to take money from my account despite me fulfilling the terms of my rental. I contacted customer service and they still aren't doing anything, or responding to my emails. This case will end up in court, and may become part of a class action lawsuit.

      The worst customer service I've ever seen. Too long a story to tell but this company cares nothing for their customer's needs or problems with their vehicles. I will never be back,.

      Worst service ever, at airport we were told they are running behind at least 1.5 hours, no cars available!! They were careless and rude. Drop off was in a different location at Christmas Day, was told there is a drop off box! Spent an hour to find out that there is no drop off box anymore, called customer service, they were rude, saying that I have to add another day and pay for the extra day! They did not care that this is not my problem as they are the one that approved my contract! Instead of waiving the additional day, they offered or to pay for the extra day, or call emergency towing to tow the vehicle and bring it next day, or to drive to the pick up location to drop off the car at the airport, which was 4 hours away!!! Next day they forced me to pay for an extra day and if I want, I have to call customer service after 24 hours to try to ask for a refund!!! Absolutely unbelievable and terrible!

      I was mislead at the Hertz pick up counter, and signed what I thought was a waiver of collision insurance because I have that through my private car insurance (USAA). Turns out, I was signing a contract to ACCEPT collision insurance and special roadside assistance from Hertz. The counter agent did NOT make this clear even though I clearly stated that I had my own insurance and did not need the Hertz insurance. Additionally, the entire contract was not made available to me when I signed on a small electronic module with my credit card inserted.After spending hours on the phone with Hertz today, I realize I signed a document that stated the opposite of what I thought I was signing.This is a cheap and slimy business practice, designed to take advantage of tired customers who have just flown aa long distance and face more hours driving. I will never rent from Hertz again and urge anyone reading this review to not rent from them.
