You'd be better off trusting a ride from a stranger in a van with blacked out windows.Reservation not ready on arrival. 1.5 hour wait to geta car I didn't reserve. Got an EV vehicle that had ZERO available stations in the area. And spent 3 hours driving and searching based on the app. Upon requesting another vehicle I had to wait OVER 2 hours. And MAYBE get another car. After driving all day we only had 50 mi. Left so we were effectively stranded with a 4 year old who'd been in a car all day.Manager was useless. And customer service was non exiatent. Worst experience of my life and utterly ruined a half a day of our very short vacation stay. We will never use Hertz again.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I rented a car from Thrifty Rental (Thrifty/HertzDollar are all the same company) in September 2023. It was a nightmare from start to finish. To begin with, I reserved the car online thinking I would be able to go to the lot at the airport and pick up a car. Nope, had to wait over two hours in line to get the car that I had pre-reserved. Driving from CA to **. On day two, I was behind someone on the interstate towing a trailer with some boxes, and one of those boxes blew off the trailer and EXPLODED all over the road in front of me. Long story short, it was a box of nails. I thought I had purchased insurance, only to find out that it only covered someone coming out to change the tire for me. *******'s only solution was for me to limp the car across the entire *********** and exchange it at the ************** (after I had replaced 1 of the tires on my dime). Did that, moved on with my life.Fast forward to 2/1/24 - I get an email from Hertz collections saying I owe over $700 for replacement of all 4 tires since I "declined loss damage waiver" at the time of rental. Ended up settling for half with collections, and will NEVER rent from any of those companies again.Beware - they aren't clear with what insurance covers when you rent. *************** for sure.

I picked up a vehicle at the ************** on February 14th at 11:30 AM and dropped it off at 9:15 AM on February 16th.............. for a total of nearly 46 hours. When I returned the vehicle (at the same location), I was specifically instructed by Hertz to leave the car and someone will receive and inspect it later and that I will receive my bill in an email. When i received my bill later on that afternoon, I noticed that the returned time is indicated to be at 1:21 PM. I also noticed that there is an extra charge of $28/hr added to my original and agreed upon contract. I was no where near the ************** at 1:21 PM, I was on a plane at ****** elevation on my way back home. If Hertz doesn't have enough personnel to receive the vehicles when customers return them , is not the customer's fault. The returned time should be exactly when the car is returned to the lot, NOT when Hertz feels like receiving it in their system and charging the customers. What Hertz is doing is Deceptive Trade Practices that BBB should be aware of.Thanks and Regards

As of today February 16 **** I can say I will never rent from hertz again. 1 or 2 bad experiences would have been ok but when every single interaction is worse than the one before it's time to part ways.Hertz wins the award of the worst customer service in the world, I don't think any company can do worst.

Do not rent from Hertz! They continued to take money out of my account even a month after I returned the vehicle which is the reason I returned the car cause they were constantly taking out more than the rental. When you call customer service they act like they are clueless and will escalate it when no resolution!! Disputing with my bank Navy Federal didnt help either because I so called gave them permission when I got the rental!!

I receive as a rental had a couple of rock chips in the window shield at the time of pick up and was not clean. The photos taken to show the condition of the car at the time of pick up were not detailed at all-you could not see clearly the rock ships that were in the windshield because of the dirt. I had to clean and deodorize the car myself. Fast forward -just a few days after picking up the rental, the temperatures in the metroplex reached 14° this is when the crack spread in the window. Upon return is when an agent noticed the crack. I explained to her what happened and I’d mentioned it when making a payment then tried contacting the location after a failed attempt to report it online through the link for maintenance support, etc. I filled out an incident report with Hertz and immediately contacted my insurance company as well. It used to be standard to walk around the car, agent and renter, to verify the condition of the vehicle at the time of rental. Very clever! no walk through, no good photos, no clean cars, poor service. The first Tesla I rented from here was also damaged and dirty at the time of pickup. I hate that for me. Hertz knew that damage was there at the time of rental and took photos that didn’t represent the true condition of the vehicle. I’m going to find proof though. Y’all gotta do better business.

They claimed my rental smelled like marijuana and charged me $500 for "Outside Washing". They are a total scam.

Zombie company - Attempted numerous times to reach local AND corporate offices by phone and email...NO replies back from any of them. Finally, I contested an overcharge with my credit card company, who decided in my favor and reversed the charge. Now, over five months after the credit card company reversed the charges, I received a collections letter in the mail, from a debt collector on behalf of Hertz. Complete zombie company with no service whatsoever...oh, and I was a member of their loyalty program to boot! Avoid at all costs.

I rented a car from Hertz in July 2023 that was damaged in an attempted theft. My insurance company GEICO reviewed the damage report and disputed excessive charges. GEICO requested additional documentation and Hertz never responded. Hertz then passed these charges on to me plus an Administrative Charge($200) and Loss of Use($151.20). When I requested the same proof of damages, your representative Brittany Seligman made no effort to obtain the documentation. She simply said, “Hertz takes their vehicles to shops that are qualified and I am not a mechanic and cannot tell you why the necessary things were fixed on a vehicle. The vehicle was repaired to the standards of the rental car business. Per the terms and conditions, you are responsible for the balance due on file since you are responsible for all damages and fees related to the damages.” If you can’t prove your claims, you simply charge the customer. Great business model—too bad it’s costing you a million Mike frequent traveler.
