      Reading these reviews is depressing - Hertz used to be the gold standard for rental car companies. Two months ago I would not have fully believed the reviews, but after 40 years of renting often from Hertz, I just had an experience very similar to those described. I picked up my car at the Cincinnati airport on 1/12. I dropped it off, as scheduled at the Cincinnati airport on 1/15. On 1/23 I learned that Hertz had not logged in the car until 1/23 and that I was being charged an additional $384. I complained and was told they would investigate. Their investigation showed the car had been returned on 1/23. I sent boarding passes, baggage claim tickets and specific information regarding the gas station where I had filled the car on my way back to the airport - all showed clearly that I had returned to the airport and flown home on 1/15. Hertz agreed and refunded me $69 (not the $384 they had erroneously charged me). I complained again and they refunded me the $48 fuel purchase option (something I had not actually purchased). I sent a letter overnight to Laura Smith and EVP heading up Customer Experience at Hertz and the Executive Response team agreed to a "final" refund of $87. Given that they charged me $384, again, erroneously, they're still $180 short. Not sure how they think this is a solution. They've also gone dark on me now, so I guess they're writing me off at a customer......after 40+ years as Gold President's Circle customer. Not exactly a good way to rebuild a business after bankruptcy during Covid.

      Our family had made a prior arrangement prepaid arrangement with Dollar for a rental in New Orleans. However, upon our arrival, we were informed that they had no vehicles available and that we would need to wait for approximately an hour. Despite patiently waiting for three hours, we eventually decided to search for an alternative car rental service. This unfortunate experience has left us without a resolution for an entire week, with only generic responses from the company. We strongly advise against renting from Herz or Dollar due to their exceptionally poor customer service. All I wanted was someone to refund me for my out of pocket cost from the prepayment. I also wanted them to confirm that i will be refunded in writing. Last communication with Hertz that they were unsure if they could repay me for my lost. DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ or DOLLAR!

      I honestly have nothing positive to say. I rented with these people after waiting a whole week afterward they gave me a car that had a check engine light so I told them I needed a better which is my mistake ig. That took another 3 hours of waiting in the physical location. Afterwards they gave me a vehicle with a tire rod issue. I didnt know until it was time for renewal that my car was extremely dangerous. I drive for Lyft as well so my lively hood is at stake shaking my head at these rental companies services.

      Hertz did not have the rental that I reserved, I was told that I would have to upgrade in that that fee would be waived. As soon as we got into the rental I called Hertz customer service and was told that the fee could not be refunded until after we had returned the car. We return the car, they tried to scam us and charge us an extra $80 for gas when we delivered it full of gas. We literally filled up at the corner before we dropped it off.Now they're completely ignoring my emails and calls, every time I call I get told that they cannot refund me. It is not my job to ensure that the vehicle that I reserved is there on their lot when I arrive in the morning for pickup. That is their job. This is a gap in their process and I don't feel I should have to pay $500 for the gap in their process.

      I made my reservation at Hertz 2 days before the day of picking up the car through my credit card app, and select the option to pay in advance to make sure it was available on time and because it was cheaper to pay in advanced.. When I arrived at the Snellville Ga location to pick up the vehicle, they told me that they had no inventory of vehicles at that time and that I could wait but that they did not guarantee that any would arrive. They didn’t consider to contact me ahead of time to tell me they were out of stock. I lost my money that I paid in Uber to pick up the car that day. Customer service didn’t help much, at least I could get a refund a week after. I am not going back to this site or renting cars again.

      My husband and I rented a car from Hertz in Florence Italy and returned it to their Rome location. When we picked up the car it had multiple dents and damage to it and we took pictures of it and also made the company sign off on the damage on their invoice, because they told us they didn't have another car available. They told us we wouldn't be liable for the damage. When we dropped off the car to the Rome office, they didn't say anything about the damage but then proceeded to charge us over 400 euros on our bill because they said we did it. We disputed it with them and sent them all the paperwork but they ignored it so we disputed it with our credit card company and they gave us back the money because Hertz also ignored their many calls. Now, we are being dunned by their collections department for the rest of the money. I reached out to the collections company and sent them copies of all of the documents but have heard nothing. They are threatening to destroy our credit because of charges we don't owe. I also reached out toHertz Global and received an email from them saying they would look into it over a week ago and there was no way to respond to the email address. I would never use Hertz again. I think you're crooks and I can understand why you went into bankruptcy a few years back if you try to rob people and charge them for money they don't owe.

      I had reservation and it was canceled twice. The customer service employee was with her child at the counter and she was more interested in pleasing her child than providing customer service.

      This was THE MOST HORRIBLE RENTAL EXPERIENCE. I have heart failure and require a wheelchair and oxygen. I had requested wheelchair access onto the bus. There wasn’t even standing room access on the bus!!! My husband attempted to pick up the car and pick me up (the reservation was in my name and he had my Driver’s License and Credit Card). They refused. I waited by the bus curbside for over an hour and a half. After much opposition at Hertz LAX, he finally picked me up. Trying to avoid the arrival fiasco, I TRIED calling and reaching a human to arrange for departure drop off. After finally getting through to customer service, roadside service, and executive service—it was over twelve agents-NOONE CARED NOR WOULD HELP! In fact, the only idea they had was “have your husband drop you off”…. Dreading the return, we arrived two hours early. NOONE helped to assist loading the wheelchair, portable oxygen, two bags of medicines and two suitcases. Upon arrival at the terminal, my husband helped me get off the bus and unloaded the wheelchair and bags of medicines WITHOUT even the lift of a finger from the driver. In fact, he almost drove off with the two remaining suitcases. This is a HORRIBLE COMPANY filled with uncaring, bored, half-listening people. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WORK WITH HERTZ IF YOU HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS!

      I rented a car on-line and also joined the ********** When we flew into the *************, there were no cars available (even though we had a reservation). We waited for over an hour before we received our vehicle. They said it was first come so whatever vehicle came in, that would be the vehicle we would receive and the reservation would be honored. When I reserved, the daily amount was $37.00 per day. When we received our final charge, it was $160.00 per day. I would never pay that much for a car. When I called to dispute, they said when I got into the car, I agreed to the new change. They would not even discuss it with me. I will never rent from Hertz again. They robbed me of over $500.00. My total bill was supposed to be $161.00 and they charged my credit card $749.00 DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ
