Staff your locations!!! Having an appointment means nothing, every time I pick up or drop off a car I have to wait 30+ mins. People have jobs to get to.

I would do zero stars if able. Fraudulent charges for fuel on a car I brought back full. No one was at the desk to check ** in. Have been through the call tree a dozen times and reached out to the corporate office too. This place it dirty and dishonest. This was after the original pick up fiasco when they tried to give me a stained, foul smelling car with significant cosmetic damage outside as well for a 2 week rental. Never again!

I rented from Hertz on 3/31/24. Everything went was expected until I received my receipt. They charged me $22.50 for gas but I filled the tank less than a mile from the return center. **************** says I have to submit a receipt in order to get a refund. I didnt expect Hertz to make a bogus gas claim on my return so why would I have thought to keep the receipt? Im very disappointed in their deceptive ploy to eek additional fees out of their customers.

Never rent at hertz at any location, period!! I rented e-car in ****************, ** location on *************** and I was asked to pay extra for switch from ***** bolt to Tesla even though pricing was same for all 3 models they offered, and ***** was clearly avail and not reserved - I was told its been at service recently etcand possibly reserved but upon returning bolt next day, ***** was parked at same spot and never picked up or used. No wonder hertz is in legal problems for reporting customers for stolen cars when long-term rentals get reported as falsely stolen and customers get pulled over and charged with possession of stolen property, falsely alleged.

We showed up to pick up our car.She had it there in plain sight. She refused give it to us.She said it was not available for our contract agreement terms. She said we could only rent it for 48 hours or more and at a much higher rate. Our plane leaves the state the following day so that was not possible. We were stuck and had to take an Uber back to our hotel without the use of a car for last day of our vacation as planned.

Hertz Rockford, IL was horrible. Car was supposed to be ready at 10 am. It wasn't ready until 11 am. Then, after pre-paying, I was told I would need to supply a different card (not debit), which I didn't have. Why did online reservations accept my debit card initially? I had to call my husband to come & bring another card. Then, because the reservation was in my name, I had to cancel & make a new reservation in my husband's name to match the card. Online wasn't working to cancel my reservation & the in person rep said he couldn't do it either. I had to wait on the phone for 20 minutes to get someone to cancel it. Ridiculous.

BEWARE! I went on a vacation, returned the vehicle with gas as stated on agreement, and was still charged $222 dollars for gas. I emailed the Hertz team my receipts of everything and it would take around a week just to get a response each time. Hertz was not able to address my problem or find a solution so I contacted my credit card and reported fraud (because it was just that) and now I received a letter from collections over $222. I will never do business with Hertz again.

I was driving your rental when a 6 ft tractor retread came at me and I couldnt avoid it without causing a deadly accident. Damage happened to the car. The amount of fees you are charging me for this are insane. You are robbing me for your cost of doing business. It is unethical and a completely ignorant way to do business. Not only will I never use hertz again but I will be discouraging everyone I know to ban hertz. The amount of social media posts I will be making will cause even more to go elsewhere. You also charged me for a toll and I was never on a toll road. You seem to think you can just use my credit card as though you pay the bill. You are a rip off unethical and ignorant company not to mention your total lack of customer service as I have been trying to contact your claims department and never get a call back or a live person to speak with.

Hertz left me stranded, helpless & in tears. Despite pre-paying & diligently following all instructions provided, my evening turned into a nightmare of wasted time & mounting stress. The desk worker’s rudeness & cold demeanor bordered on intimidation, as she flippantly flung a pamphlet across the counter when I requested the billing contact for a refund, because she wasn’t able to do anything about it at the counter. (WARNING: Even if you pre-pay a reservation & THEY deny the car, they are not able to cancel the reservation at the desk nor can the issue a refund. You have to contact customer service. Prepare for a LONG wait & the run around if you call.) Her dismissive attitude, short responses, & eye-rolling only added insult to injury in an already upsetting & stressful situation. I then spend nearly an hour on customer service, mostly the initial wait time & then an extra 20 mins for them to “pull the file.” After finally speaking to someone to cancel the reservation, I asked to share feedback on my experience. She said I’d have to contact customer service. I told her that I thought that’s who I was talking to, & she said that was a different department. I asked if she could connect me with that department. She said she could not. I’d have to call directly. I asked for the number, & she gave me the exact number that I had dialed to reach her. I asked her what department/extension I needed to hit, & she said to dial 5. When I called the line, that extension did not exist (clearly a strategy to avoid the feedback & end the call.) Our entire evening was squandered on futile attempts to secure the car we had pre-paid for, only to be met with indifference and even intimidation and aggression. We also wasted an hour-round trip to the airport with nothing to show for it. The complete lack of accountability and customer care is truly shocking. Clearly it’s pervasive, as no one seems to care or feel any level of accountability. How do companies like this even survive?

The individuals who work here are scammers and represent the Hertz business model unfortunately. Upon picking up my vehicle, I drove it 3.4 miles home and parked it in my garage. Next day, the tire indicator came on when I was leaving for work so I added air to the one tire that was low and headed to work. The day was cold, it was possible that this caused the tire to lose air. Fast forward 10 days, the tire indicator came back on when I was leaving work at around ~5:30pm. I called Hertz to inform them that I think something is wrong with the tires and the customer service representative said no problem, take it back and they can swap out your vehicle. I took the car back and they assessed it and tried to charge me for a tire. I asked them to produce the vehicle inspection report prior to renting the vehicle to me and they could not produce this report. It is questionable that they even inspected the vehicle or prior to renting it to me or they knew the tire was low and they just added air as the PSI on the tires were all around 40 PSI, which was strange whenever I was trying to figure out which tire needed air. I spoke to the regional owner and she said she'd call me back but never did. Two weeks later, their damage recovery team calls me and says I owe $40 for the plug and an additional $25 admin fee. No one ever called me back and I called to leave messages on the regional owner's voicemail as well. Don't do business with a company whose practices are shady. Had they just told me I owed $40 and closed the loop, I would've just paid but because they sent this recovery, I am now out an additional $25. Keep in mind, the timeline of all of this is 1 month. Please please do not give you money to these shady group of people. I will never do business with Hertz or its affiliates. This includes Byers Toyota since they allow Hertz to operate within their business.
