I’ve been a longtime Hertz gold member and have had a great experience with them. I had reserved a vehicle in late March for a trip to the Ft. Lauderdale airport a week prior to my arrival. When I arrived at the Hertz counter the manager told me that my vehicle was not available, nor others in the compact/midsized range and only had more upscale cars available. A Maserati for $1700 a week? Sorry that’s beyond my price range. The manager sent me to one of the off brand outlets outside of the airport where it was inconvenient to get to and I paid more for less. Even though it was spring break week they should have had my vehicle available. I reached out to Hertz corporate twice, they got back to me once saying that they are reviewing my claim but still haven’t resolved it. I’m also filing a complaint with the Florida department of consumer affairs. Thanks, ***

I have had an absolutely horrible experience with this rental company. When I visited Austin, TX I booked the rental online for the airport and paid for the amount I was quoted. We had to switch drivers at the airport because of the credit card that was used. The only additional fee I was told would be incurred was the additional drive fee each day, which amounted a little over $50. It wasn't until I checked my credit card the following day I realized they over charged me $300 for the rental. When we were switching the rental driver no new contract language was shown and on the screen where you put in your card it doesn't even show you the amount you are being charged. On top of all this the car broke down on day 3/4. I had it returned to the the airport, I did not request a new one. I have not received any refund for the day it was not used. I have contacted customer service multiple times and never received a response back.

I reserved a car on-line from Hertz to commute from Charlotte Douglas international airport to Raleigh Durham international airport. Pick up was at 6:00 PM and drop off scheduled for 10:30 PM the same day. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was told that they did not have any vehicles because the system can't keep up with on-line reservations and will reserve vehicles that are not available. I checked with the other car rental companies lined up in the same area and almost half were operated by Hertz and was told the same thing, no vehicles were available. Furthermore, one of the car rental agents working at the desk said he knew someone that would drive us to Raleigh from Charlotte if we were interested, he made a phone call and said they were available and it would cost $750, which I presume is a conflict of interest for a car rental employee to have a business partner in ride share when rentals are not available, seems a little suspicious and something they should look into. At the end of the day, I incurred additional expenses and lost time because of Hertz.

I was charged for coverages I excluded in my reservation and Hertz refused to refund me. I will never trust my business to Hertz again. This seems illegal!

We were quoted $298.01 through AAA to rent the car at the Orlando airport. I noticed when I reviewed my bank statement they charged over $600. When I called customer service they said I added insurance. I did not. I even repeated it back. No insurance, no toll. They are scammers and instead of writing this review I really wish someone would do something about it.

If you want to pay double than rent throw Hertz. They don't return your 500 dollar holding fee.

I reserved a car through AAA with Hertz for a trip to *******. Picked up the vehicle in ****** and returned it to ******* 8 days later. Initially I was charged approx. $1100 by AAA. In the end with insurance, an upgrade fee of $750 and roadside assistance, my final bill when dropping off the vehicle was $2300 (more than my house rentals in ******, ****** and ****** combined!). Hertz **************** has been atrocious both on the phone and via email. They continue to claim that the charges were correct even when I explain that I was never informed of the upgrade. I will not be renting from them again.

On 3/29/24 rented a Chevy Bolt. Mapped trip with “charger finder” provided by Hertz. The locations given were to TESLA stations. The charge was decreasing. I phoned Hertz (on hold for 47 min.) & requested a gas vehicle. Hertz DID NOT ask about my safety. Said if I swap cars I would be charged for a new rental. Informed that the car wasn't holding charge. He suggested that I go to another station (farther than the amount of charge left). A man heard my conversation & told me of a closer station. Went & charged for 3.5 hours. As I drove, charge went from 100 to 40% in 22 minutes. Found another station & charged the car again. Made it to my destination @ 7pm (left at 8am & this is a 4.5-5hr trip). As I drove, the charge decreased fast. Went to another Hertz provided station & it too was for Tesla. Had kids with me & it was almost 12am. A person in the gas station told me a charging station was 28 miles away. Only 18% charge left. Phoned Hertz. Spoke with agent & supervisor. Supervisor said he could see the car was having issues & he'd get a tow to the nearest charging station @ NO CHARGE. He also stated he would provide a Lyft to follow the tow truck @ NO CHARGE. Was sent a link to Lyft. The tow co. was closed so I had to wait until 8am the next day. Had to get a hotel. The tow truck arrived @ 10am. I requested Lyft. Lyft never came. Had to find a way to the charging station. Car was due back @ 8am but I returned it later. My concern was an extra day charge. I received my credit card statement & I was charged for the tow! I was NEVER told I had to pay for the tow. The car’s issue was not my fault. Contacted Hertz & was told to go online for help. Was informed by email that I needed to have paid for roadside assistance to cover the tow. Then, was told that no one authorized a tow. False! I had no way to contact a “Hertz” provided tow & if so, I would've had to pay on the spot. I phoned Hertz again & was told the case was previously escalated and can't be reopened.

I reserved a rental for $330.10 and approved the fuel purchase option for $3.64 per gallon. I did not know (nor did the representative tell me or was there any sign) that gas left over did not count to the refueling. I thought I paid the difference. This was very deceptive. I would have refueled if I had known. Regardless, the receipt and bill charged me for $10.64 per gallon versus what the repressive told me would be $3.64. They are tripling their profit! There is no gas here for that price!! My bill increased over $100. This is unacceptable. I want a refund.
