1 starDo not purchase a car from Hertz auto sales. They are completely incompetent. The car is good and I feel that I paid a reasonable price, but the experience was a nightmare. Short story: I bought a vehicle from Hertz in Orlando, Florida and they said they would handle my New York State title and registration. After 75 days, many phone calls, and walking into *** to register the vehicle myself, I finally got my registration and confirmation from *** *** that my title was on the way. During this time, Hertz failed over and over to contact me, provide any updates, call me back, provide useful answers to simple questions like “When will I get my paperwork?” That question got the scripted answer “30 to 40 days”. There was a single person at Hertz, Rich at the Orlando office, that actually called me back and tried to take ownership of this process. Rich is an excellent manager and did all that he could to get this resolved. The problem at Hertz: They are so siloed that they get absolutely nothing done. Sales gathers the paperwork they think they need and sends it to “Corporate”. It then goes to the “titling department”. They send it to RegUSA who doesn’t seem to do anything but pass it on to *** ***. Since the Florida sales force has no idea how to register a car in New York, *** sends the paperwork back to Reg USA, who sends it back to titling, who sits on it for a while and finally notifies sales that they need more information. As far as I could tell from the conversations I had with many different people at Hertz, all internal communication is via email. No internal chat app. No phone calls. No ticketing system. Welcome to the 90s - without a phone system. It looks like they submitted information for my vehicle at least 3 times and each time they were missing some vital piece of paperwork. Yes, *** *** is a pain to work with, but auto dealers and regular citizens manage to get cars registered every day.Review fromKateri O

5 starsDear Hertz, I was hoping you would send me a customer satisfaction survey after renting one of your cars, but I guess this will have to do. I was one of the many people who's flight got cancelled a few weeks ago and had to rent a car to drive home. Thankfully you had inventory in the *********** and ***** got me quickly from the counter and down to the car pick up area. Getting the car had some issues, there was only one line regardless of car type, regardless of status... let's just say I'm glad I wasn't a President's **** member because I would have got sent to the back of the line. I was told to try two different cars before the third one was the winner. On the way out, there was an issue with the rental I was given and thankfully again, there was a great human, ****, who fixed my paperwork and got me out as quickly as possible for my 7 hour drive home. If it wasn't for the speed and friendliness of your staff, I would have had a miserable experience.Review fromNelson

1 starReview: Hertz Pearland HLE - Discrimination and Unprofessional Conduct I recently had an appalling experience at the Hertz Pearland HLE location that left me shocked and outraged. Despite being a loyal customer for over 10 years, I was met with blatant disrespect and racism. I had a confirmed reservation, complete with reminders, ensuring me that everything would go smoothly. However, when I arrived, I was greeted by a young black man, presumably the manager, who struggled with my reservation. He ultimately informed me that the discount I used would not be honored, abruptly changed his tone, and walked away without an apology, leaving me stranded. When I expressed my frustration, he accused me of cursing at him and declared he was "Muslim," demanding I leave the store. This was a shocking display of unprofessionalism and an unacceptable assertion of superiority based on religion and race. To add insult to injury, he threatened to blacklist me from renting from Hertz ever again. Following this ordeal, I reached out to Hertz for a resolution and received no response, indicating Hertz's support for such abusive and racist behavior. It is clear that Hertz does not value customer loyalty or uphold basic standards of decency and respect. As a result of this experience, I am demanding the following: A formal, public apology from Hertz addressing the disrespect and racism I endured. Full credit for the reservation that was wrongfully denied. Immediate action to address the unprofessional and discriminatory behavior at the Pearland HLE location. I urge anyone reading this to reconsider doing business with Hertz, especially at the Pearland HLE location. The behavior I encountered is a stark reminder that discrimination and poor service are alive and well in some businesses. I will not relent until this issue is addressed satisfactorily. Terribly disappointed and unsatisfied, Nelson M******Review fromArun K

1 starWords fail me to describe the performance and conduct of Hertz Rental Company at Union Station In DC. Our car reservation was confirmed from 20-22 July 2024. They even followed it with reminders re the upcoming trip and offers for an upgrade - to a Nissan Pathfinder. On arriving there in the morning 30 minutes prior to our scheduled time we were confronted with a long line of customers waiting to pick up cars. Took an hour to get to the counter and were informed that no car is available and they have no idea when it would be available. Minimum wait time 1-2 hours and they would call us once the car is available. As we surmised and you would guess, no one called. The staff seemed overwhelmed and most unhelpful. And I happen to have a Loyalty tier of President's Circle. They will not see me again! Enterprise in Virginia, on the other hand was efficient, professional, timely and economic. If I was management of Hertz Rental i would be seriously worried.Review fromJaime H

1 starThis was the most offensive and rude customer service I have ever experienced. I tried to rent a car. I was greeted by "We are not open yet, when obviously they were because it was 9:15 AM, and the light were on and she was inside. Forget about a "good morning". I am aware that the requirements are CC, DL, and 25 yrs +. I forgot my CC at home, but had my DC with me. I asked for the additional requirements and the rude lady said. "DC, insurance card, 25+, DL, $500 deposit, and run a credit check. There was no problem at all with all these conditions. But when she mentioned running a background check, that's when I got an issue. Background check??, this is a new. I tried to rent a car not to enroll as FBI agent. I am wondering if my appearance had something to do with it. I own semi trucks, and obviously I was not wearing clothes that I wear when I am at home. I left and she said if you call me later leave a message because I am by myself" The issue was at the Centennial location in Las Vegas NV. I called another location and the requirement were all the same exempt for the background check.Review fromElizabeth K

1 starWorse service ever. I will never rent a car from this place. I was discriminated and over charged. I reserve a rental from Expedia. Reserved an SUV to be pick up at 330pm . When i arrived to the hertz counter at 315 pm i was informed there was no SUV available that i had to upgrade to a more expensive car. I was supposed to return car back on 7/26/24 by 330pm. . There was a big accident on the 15fwy coming from Las Vegas. It was all over the news. . It took us 8 hours to get back. I call hertz Montclair to informed them of the situation the manager German said "I have never heard of anyone taking that long to come back from Las Vegas." German said as long as i made it by 515 hew would wait for me to rerun car but asked for me to call him back by 330pm to keep him update. i callled him back around 330pm to informed him my ETA showed 515. Herman said "that it's just an estimated time of arrival it's not for sure so he then told me he couldn't wait for me because it was against policy and that i had to bring rental back Saturday between 9-12 and pay and extra charge of $108. I called Hertz corporate spoke with an employee whom i informed her of the situation Employee informed me she couldn’t help me because my rental extension was blocked at the Montclair counter. She stated that my best option was to return rental on Saturday and also informed me i was going to pay the $108 extra. So i did. I took car back Saturday. German assisted me with return Informed me i had to pay an extra $168 more because he had to charged me for the entire weekend letting me know that total was going to be $391. When i asked why he had told me and extra $108 his response was "oh well it was an error "no remorse or care for what i was was going through. When i asked why the change he just said that's how it is. So you have the option to keep the car until until Monday for a total of $400. At end manager refused to give me a receipt and charged me $440. Worse experience everReview fromCharles R

1 starI am trying to pay a toll i incurred while driving a Hertz rental. The toll is due in five days and Hertz tells me I can't get a receipt for about 7 days. When I call the company to speak to an agent I end up in voice mail ****. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced.Review fromMi K

1 starWhen did Hertz become a scam? We rented from Hertz on a recent trip and did not buy their fuel refill option, choosing to refill the tank ourselves - which we did, minutes before we returned the car. We were then charged a $100 fuel charge! That's mileage + like $11 per gallon. And we returned it with MORE gas than it had when we started. But that's the beginning of it because then there is no way to get to a human being. I turned in a complaint form and never heard back from them. There was no way to attach my fuel receipt on the original complaint form. I tried getting to a person, got re-routed, and put on hold for over 30 minutes. Wish I had seen these low reviews before I rented from them. Honestly they should be put out of business.Review fromMarion Y

1 starHorrible customer service. I have paid for my lost and found return to be mailed back to me over a month ago, have a fed ex tracking number and fed ex has tried to pick up the return several times with no luck. Fed Ex tracking number I have and FED EX has tried contacting you as well with no luck. Hertz found item number I have and still have not received my item but you have already charged my credit card on June 19th 2024. Why have I not received my item!!!!!!I have emailed eight customer service contacts, a General manager and Regional Manager with no response. I have called 6 different phone numbers, left several messages with no return phone calls, I have been on hold over 5 hours of my time and still have not received any return calls. I have been to the Richmond airport 3 times and doors are locked and the Manager of the lost and found is never available. What is going on!!!! Where is my binder that I paid to have Fed Ex back to me on June 19th 2024!!!! The reason why my binder was left in my rental car is because I returned car early because the check engine light kept coming on and the a/c was blowing warm air with 104 temperatures and my 89 year old mother was not able to tolerate any longer. I was trying to explain to the Hertz attendant at the airport getting out my receipt out of binder , soaking wet from sweating so much, and then she said she did not need receipt, I just grabbed my backpack and left binder on seat. Total nightmare renting a car from Hertz!!!!!!
