I rented a car at the **** Airport in Houston. The rental process was easy, the car was nice, full tank of gas. Great. However upon returning it with a full tank of gas, I checked my receipt and low and behold there is a full charge on it. Why is Hertz charging me for fuel? This is not ethical at all. I tried contacting them several times to no avail. No one ever answers their customer service number. It's impossible to speak with a human being. It seems as if customer service is not their top priority. If you have rented with Hertz I advise you to check your return receipt..

I’ve been a 5 Stars Hertz member through ******* *** Venture for over a year, using it multiple times. Today, I went to pick up an SUV with my significant other, planning to add him as an additional driver at no extra cost, as my membership allows. However, the staff insisted on charging $25, despite my member status. When I showed proof, they still claimed I’d never rented before and insisted on the charge. Frustrated, I eventually agreed because the regional manager refused to waive the fee, and we needed the car for Sunday. Then, the staff suddenly increased the fee to $81! To make matters worse, the vehicle was filthy, with bird droppings, dirt, and trash inside. They didn’t even do a proper walkthrough for pre-existing damages, and we had to request it ourselves. As we drove, we discovered the oil needed changing and the tire pressure was low. Renting a car should provide peace of mind, not more stress. This experience was unacceptable—1-star review from a 5-star member.

I called them few mins back to change my drop off location and drop off date (1 day before the expected date) and they charged me 300 USD more. They said that if drop off location changes the daily tariff will change accordingly which does not make any sense. There should be some control on fraudulent companies like this. Worst experience

Inspect your receipt closely and ask questions. I purchased a rental with Hertz through their website, declined their optional additional charges of insurance and roadside assistance, and the total was $379. On the day my rental begins, I show up at the front desk and she asks again if I want those services and I say "no, I already declined those online." She prints my invoice and I glance at the invoice which shows a total of $371. In my mind I hesitate a beat because I'm like, "I could have sworn it was $379 but I guess I'm remembering wrong." I'm in a hurry so I sign the invoice. Turns out, $371 indicates ADDITIONAL CHARGES that amount to the extra charges that I TWICE declined (once online and once in person). So in addition to the $379, I they ran my credit card for a second charge of $371 after I completed the rental and returned the car. There are so many ways Hertz could have avoided this confusion. They could stop asking multiple times when I've already declined the services. They could not charge me for something that I declined twice. They could say, "here is the additional amount owed for the additional services requested, would you like to pay for these now or later?" They could indicate on the invoice what those charges are instead of using vague abbreviations: "LDW, LIS, PAI, PEC, PREM RD SVC." Lastly, a service rep could go over with you what each charge is. I suppose there is egg on my face for assuming a corporation isn't going to try to take advantage of me in every way possible and I should have reviewed all 12 line items with the sales agent and spent 20 minutes trying to understand their cryptic invoice. Hopefully this review will help you keep egg off your face as well

Hertz is horrible. They force you to use online app but then if you use it then when you make a change like a time change, same vehicle and same dates, they allow you to update but dont show you that the price of the rental has doubled. You only find out after you update. Then when you try calling their customer service they tell you sorry nothing we can do. Worst rental company ever. Sad thing is the rental reps at the locations are actually pretty good and try to help but their hands are tied. They should work somewhere else, maybe **** or **********.

This car rental place is the worse, the manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. They are giving customers same day returned cars without having the cars serviced or cleaned. The car I was given the brakes were squeaking and the car was jumping. I took it back they told me they could give me a voucher for a repair place or I could wait for someone to return a car. I told the manager that was a safety risk for customers not having the vehicles checked for repairs or oil changes. He responded oh we ask customers if there was any issues with the car, which wasn't true because two women returned a car and was asked nothing. They are not following the lemon law when it comes to the safety of vehicles and customers. They should be shutdown

We rented a vehicle and, upon arriving at the pickup, they didn't have one available. In the process of moving us to a different vehicle, they added rental insurance without our knowledge or consent. This DOUBLED the cost of our rental and they have refused to do anything about it. Be wary, these scam artists might bait-and-switch you.

Hertz charged me for an insurance that I did not sign up for. I tried to contact the company to get the correct billing, but it was not possible to speak to anyone. This is fraudulent and unacceptable.
