      Hertz seems to be about short $ not long term customer service. I am a long time 5 star customer, treated like a 1 star. They didn't have the vehicle I reserved for me and then charged me for a no show, I had never clicked on prepay. I never use prepay for business travel. Their customer service is " no customer no service. You cant reached a human for a long time and when you do they refused to transfer me to anyone and even refused to give me the name and address of their senior executives. Very frustrating

      DON’T USE HERTZ! Zero rating. How is this company in business?? We made a reservation through Expedia and paid over $450. We get to the rental office and the employee kept trying to sell us the Hertz car coverage. I kept declining and told her I purchased the coverage through Expedia. She then tells me I have to put an additional deposit so I gave her my debit card. She then said by using a debit card, I’d have to pay $600. I agreed. I gave her my card and then she said she can’t continue with the rental process because the company policy is they can’t accept debit cards for a mini van rental. We had to get to Houston because we had already rented a hotel room for our trip so we wound up taking our personal vehicle. We have taken many road trips in the last 10 years and normally rent our vehicles from AVIS directly with no issues but, we tried a different company and learned our lesson. DON’T USE HERTZ!

      Rented a car in Pensacola FL in May 23, waited 42 minutes in line at the terminal then another 20 minutes in the garage only to be told they didn't have the full size car I already paid for, offered me a truck, ect.. Needed that car for my dad's 90'th birthday.. ended up with an upgraded compact that didn't work for anything. What a joke these people were, unprepared, inept, that's the last time for me. What a disappointment.

      Don’t rent from Hertz. Period. We reserved a car in San Jose, Costa Rica. It was confirmed a week before our arrival. There were no vehicles available whatsoever on our arrival. We were forced to pay more than double at another agency since we had no existing reservations there.

      I had an awful experience with Hertz. I rented a car due to car repairs and was able to return the car early. When I spoke to the representative at the pick up location to inquire whether there was a penalty for returning the car early she said there was not. That was not the case. After returning the car early and calling billing, where I encountered two unprofessional customer service representatives I was told that I would be penalized for returning the car early and that I "should have called to change the reservation and I would have gotten a better rate." This did not make sense to me. The representative informed me that I would be charged an additional 20 dollars per day from the original rate I agreed to since I had returned the car early. I then spoke to another representative after reviewing the paperwork from Hertz, where I did not find any information about a penalty for returning the car early I spoke to another representative. The second representative I spoke to was quite rude and at one point asked me to hold, thinking that she had me on hold when she did not and I heard her laughing loudly and making passive aggressive comments (which were clearly about the call with me). I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was able to do so and explained what happened when talking to one of the agents when she thought she hung up on me, along with the explanation about my confusion in the penalty which I was misled about originally. All he was able to do was say, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" and that there is nothing more that he could do regarding the additional charge. At this point, given the unprofessional attitudes of staff on the phone lines as well as the misleading information and unwillingness to correct mistakes of misleading information on their end, This is not good business and I will no longer be utilizing Hertz services. There are plenty of other rental car businesses that treat their customers with respect and kindness all around.

      The employee was very friendly and polite so I am very appreciative of that. However I reserved the vehicle 2 days in advance amd paid for the insurance and they failed to tell me when I reserved the vehicle they would need to charge me a 500 holding fee... for what exactly??? I paid for insurance. I get a deposit but 500 seriously I wasn't even going to have the car but maybe 10 hours maximum. To top it off i wasted 3 hours of my time to drive all the way there and now back home because they failed to state I'd need a deposit and didn't plan on having to pay it. Now if I had known this prior I could have planned for it and would have been able to pay the deposit. This is bullshit they need to adjust their shit. So now I've wasted 3 hours of my time when and waited a day I could have left yesterday so realistically I've wasted a day and a half of my time for some bullshit. Never again will I even consider renting here ill pay more somewhere else before I come back.

      This is the absolute worst car rental company. Do not rent a car. Stop and find a different car rental company. They rented me a car in Philadelphia from a location about 20-25 minutes away from the airport that was sketchy at best. They tried to give me a NASTY DIRTY ford explorer and was willing to take off $20 and we could go get it cleaned! WTH I don’t want to take time away from my vacation to get a car cleaned. Rented me a Kia optima and then never put it on the agreement, just changed the price. I drove it in Philly, Gettysburg and Washington DC. If I had gotten pulled over, I would’ve went to jail because it would’ve looked like I had stolen a car from Hertz. When I called back to complain about all of the issues that I had and how I was overcharged, they had no idea that I had ever been in that car. I had to send them a video to verify that I had rented that car from them. I had to pay $40 for a taxi from the airport to that location. I had asked the Hertz at the airport if I could’ve just rented a car from them they said no I had to go and rent it from where I have the reservation that was a lie I could’ve canceled and rented from them, they do not know their own policies and they are not good at customer service

      Horrible experience with Hertz!!! My husband and I rented a car from them on a recent vacation. Prior to renting/paying for the car, I called the Hertz location that we were wanting to rent from to verify a few items, one being that I was going to add my husband as an additional driver and if there was anything we should be aware of or any specific documentation that would be required when we arrived to pick up the car. I was told there was nothing that I need to be aware of and that he needed his Driver's License and our insurance card (which we brought). When we arrived, we were told that it was an extra $189 to add him but if we had signed up for the loyalty membership it would have been free (and it was too late to do so at that time). We found this odd as we have rented from Hertz before, issue free, and there was no additional charge to add myself as a driver. So, being that we were at the airport at midnight, we paid the money and took the car. Once getting home from vacation, I called Hertz to get to the bottom of the issue i.e. - why did we not have to pay this fee before (only 3 months earlier) but did this time. I was told that if my husband had been the primary and myself the secondary, there would have been no charge. Apparently when we rented before the lady was kind enough to sign him up for the loyalty program so there was no fee to add me but, we were completely unaware of this! It baffles me that we are part of the loyalty program but since I was the primary and not the secondary it becomes null and void and you're stuck paying the fee. This is HORRIBLE business and I can assure you we will NEVER rent from them again and I will tell anyone who asks the same!! Shame on you Hertz, knit picking immaterial details to drain money from people.

      They are THIEVES! DO NOT rent from them. Rented a car for a month in Nice France and spent well over $1000 for the rental, took pictures at pick-up (except small parts like the review mirror casing) as no one is there to verify the vehicle condition with you. Guess what? Upon returning the car 30 days later at 4am (again no one is there to check the vehicle), they supposedly found a minor scratch on the mirror casing. I emailed them, asking for proofs and they sent me 2 pictures that show NOTHING!!! Now I am taking this up with my credit card company. Stay away from this company, they are a COMPLETE SCAM.
