  Why is this company allowed to operate?
  
  Guest Reservation charged an exorbitant fee ($332 on a $868 two-day stay) - roughly 40% of the charge was in extra fees. In the receipt email - they state: Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees (See Details Below) . Unfortunately, the 'details' only makes a generic statement with no itemized breakdown of the actual charges:
  "*This charge includes the estimated amount we pay the hotel for occupancy related taxes owed by the hotel and any amounts charged to us for resort fees, cleaning fees, and other fees. The balance of the charge is a fee we, the hotel supplier and/or the website you booked on, retain as part of the compensation for our and/or their services which varies based on factors such as location, the amount, and how you booked." I called customer service and they are unable to provide any further details nor any reimbursement for unnecessary charges.
  I have recently heard a new story about Guest Reservations charging high fees - and unfortunately, I have become another unsatisfied customer. I would recommend not using Guest Reservations.

  Same thing. They are fraud. How can they can stay in business. I notified credit card company as well. They should be charged with criminal fraud.

  This site is a ripoff - do not book any hotel or travel plans through this site, their policies are misleading and will not refund stays, even though the hotel agrees to refund cancellations! Do not use this site!!?? so would give zero stars!

  It's a shame for the hotel booking industry. Like the other customers, I booked thru Guest Reservations thinking that I was booking thru the hotel website directly. I booked Holiday Inn Express Inverness UK for 3 nights 3 rooms. The room rate is $2,357 but the tax+fees is $1,385 which is 58% of the room rate. The other hotel booking agencies usually only charge about 20%. Of course, the penalty to cancel is so high that I am stuck with this bad experience. This is totally a ripped off. Their customer care team can't explain the breakdown of this tax and fees. I would not book thru this company again. With all theses complaints, why hotels are still letting this company to make reservations. They should revisit the business model with this company and keep their customers happy.

  You are shown a rate that is less than the hotel would charge you. But before you confirm, they show a piece that is much higher and if you don't pay attention, you will miss it. It is a VERY deceptive site. I was quote $98 for my reservation, and after I confirmed, my rate was $148. Be very careful what you click on when using this site. I believe it to be malicious in nature.

  This website is a total scam. Do not use! I mistakenly used it to book 2 nights at a hotel where the room cost was $400 a night. They added $550 in fees on this site. When I went to cancel, they told me there was a $950 cancellation fee! If I could give it, zero stars I would.

  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS PREDATORY BOOKING SITE! I was on the hotel website, then duped into making my reservation on this third party look-alike reservation screen. After booking, I found out I, too was charged $124.22 "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees, on a one night $229 room (54% is criminal). Got the run around when I immediately canceled and tried to get my money back. "Call the hotel and get their permission, then call us back". Like, what? But ok. Hotel said "Sure ok". Then I could never get anyone at "Guest Reservations" to respond to my request for a refund. They should be SHUT DOWN for consumer fraud. I am so MAD!

  Their website is misleading. What I thought was going to be $199/night for a room ended up being over $400. The fees were not visible until I booked the room not realizing it was going to be so high. I immediately called to cancel my reservations and got the run around to keep the reservations with 10%, 15% and then 20% to keep the room. When I said no, she said it would cost me $230.84 to cancel. This is wrong and they need to be out of business.

  Should not be allowed to operate. I thought I was on the hotels web site when making the reservation. When I received the confirmation e-mail and noted the guest reservation,.com address, , I immediately cancelled. This was within ten minutes of making the reservation. Upon cancelling I was charged for the reservation but the email says I will received a refund for the second night. So I am out $160 bucks. I called and was stonewalled. What a deceptive practice! Hope I truly do get the refund!

  It's a scam. I thought I was booking with the hotel website. . I had no idea I was booking through a nonrefundable site. It is a nightmare with taxes it was 50 to 60 dollars more than booking through Expedia.
