AARP has to be the largest scammer of the elderly in the United States. I finally dumped the crappy United Healthcare AARP Medicare Advantage plan since it doesn't cover help that I need and I was paying for UH to use AARP's name. Stupid.

I'm 68 and just sold my company today. Over the years I have checked into AARP benefits in anticipation of not working any further on no occasion, be it evaluating insurances, consumer discounts, or Medicare health or drug supplemental insurance programs, Etc, that they promote to at best ever offer a savings to its membership that could not be easily found for 15% less or greater on the internet. AARP takes advantage of senior citizens ignorance or the false hope they seed to seniors thru their multi-million advertising campaigns paid from their membership funds. Violating a trust IMHO they disingenuously and knowingly create!

They provide a decent rate the first year, after that they continue to raise there rates with out a notice. They are scamming people who have auto pay. Not recommended to have this company. I, had to find someone else because this AARP is not accurate.

This is a waste of money. Their call centers are outsourced to people who not only are off shore, but pretend to not understand discounts from reputable chains.

      Dear Ms. Plunk,
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or frustration you may have experienced with your AARP Rewards purchase.
I have spoken with the Consumer Care Ombudsman Team representative who has been resolving your issue. Apparently it was a delay due to a different credit card being used for the purchase of the gift cards. The issue has been resolved.
We appreciate your past and continued support --- and wish you a happy holiday season.
      Sincerely,
      Bruce

Renewed my membership for 2 years as they were offering a "classic courier" for free, but what I received was a 3-piece accessory set to put my toiletries in when traveling. Not at all what was pictured, and I feel deceived. When I called to find out where my courier was, they said they ran out, so they sent me a substitution. I am very disappointed with this substitution and asked for a refund. They told me it would take over a month for them to issue the check.

      Dear Mr. H****,
Thank you for your comments. I reviewed your phone call to our contact center and our representative did try to provide a satisfactory replacement for the out-of-stock premium item. However, you asked for a refund, and our agent complied with your request.
As your payment was made by check, we provide a timeline of 4 weeks to take processing as well as slower USPS delivery windows during the holiday season into the equation, so as not to set unrealistic expectations. You may receive the refund sooner than anticipated. Had your payment been made by credit card, refunds usually appear within 24-48 hours.
We thank you for your past support and hope to see you back in the not-too-distant future. Wishing you a happy holiday season.
      Sincerely,
      Bruce

Their website and benefits are so hard to understand and obtain. I selected groceries and there was zero results. The search shows unrelated items. Every page is covered in a sign up for aarp banner. Lousy is a good word to explain the website. Lastly, the companies appear to be far away even when I put 50 miles from my home town

      Dear Ms. G******,
Thank you for your active AARP membership.
Among many other benefits, AARP offers discount coupons in the restaurant, shopping, and entertainment categories, which can be found on our Membership & Benefits page - a free benefit for AARP members.
As a member, you can filter your search by specific categories to search for available coupons. However, these local discount coupons are sourced through a third-party vendor, not by AARP; therefore, coupon availability can change and is regularly updated.
We hope with some time, you will find multiple opportunities to explore some benefits closer and more to your liking.
We thank you for your past and continued support.
      Sincerely,
      Bruce

What people don't understand about auto pay is only use it for house & vehicles.
      AARP IS ONLY A BROKER

AARP Is a 3rd party entity.
      1. You PAY AARP.
2.AARP gets company's to get you discount.
      3. You pay for the company for discounts.

So if there is a hiccup you have to use the company you payed for the services.

ARRP IS ONLY A BROKER & THATS THE BOTTON LINE

Please stop sending your members Renewal Notices if they are active members with memberships that are not close to expiring. I renewed for THREE YEARS in April 2023 ($47 base donation + $7 addional for $50 total) and I continually receive mailers with RENEWAL REMINDER on envelope and a statement that my last 'gift' of $7 was in April 2023.

If AARP wants to call this an Additional Gift or a Fundraiser, please do so and note that the recipient's Membershio is Active.

This is deceptive practice that preys on the elderly who may not recall paying their membership dues.

Let me tell you about dealing with this insurance company AARP my mom had homeowners insurance for 30 years with no claims whatsoever I patched a couple places on the roof and all of a sudden it’s we dropped you when I didn’t even know she was dropped and did not have homeowners insurance because of that issue. I have been doing Sheet Metal roofing for at least on and off 30 years as a union member, I know what I’m doing when I patch something with no claims whatsoever, they just dropped her. I think they owe her some money because they took advantage of her and we don’t even into the life insurance crap yet it’s unbelievable when you call him up they lose your POA and his time to freaking go through. It needs to be whatever they call it approved , it is a nightmare they take full advantage of senior citizens and here’s my email address. If you have any questions
