1 starTold ********* on the phone needed new furnace. He said might be repairable so would send someone out for FREE to look at it. What they failed to explain it's only "free" if you buy the furnace right then and there, no time to consider MAJOR expense. When I told **** that I really needed to think about it, and wanted another bid, He was okay that's $160 for the visit. I told him what had been told to me over the phone by ********* "would send someone out for free". **** said "No. you're mistaken he did not say free I'll play you the conversation." Well **** played the conversation back and the term FREE was used with no further explanation. **** said "Well that is not what he meant" Please remove the word FREE from your conversation because that is the last thing you mean. Be happy with the $160 you got because Lion isn't getting anymore money from me or my friends.Lion Home Service

Hi ****, I'm sorry you feel that this was handled incorrectly. I reviewed the call from ********* and he advised that the estimate would be free (at no charge). When **** was out there, he provided you with the cost of the diagnostic which is needed to identify what is wrong with the unit. The cost of the diagnostic was provided to you prior to the furnace being looked at. We do this to ensure our clients are aware of any charges, and can approve them at that time and not after it has been done. In addition, I do not see a charge for $160. The diagnostic fee that was charged was for $112 which is the cost of the diagnosis, and does not include the $29 dispatch fee which was waived for you. If you would like to discuss this further, please call in and we would be happy to discuss a resolution with you.Review fromJoy A

1 starStarted with replacing Electrical Panel, then they advised my Hot Water Heater and Furnace we past their normal life and should be replaced so I agreed to the work. After the installation of the Furnace, they said 'the inspector would not approve my furnace because of moisture in the crawl space'. Quoted me $10,000 to install the sump pump which I said was too expensive and questioned why so high. They said it was that expensive because of being in a crawl space. I did NOT see an itemized estimate but felt I better get it done because of a failed inspection. After the job was completed, I received an invoice by email with detail. They charged me $7,500 to dig the hole which took 2 guys 1/2 hour and they raved at how easy a job it was with nothing obstructing like pipes, etc. I felt I had been taken advantage of as another contractor told me he would have done it for $1,500. I called and asked to talk to owner but was called back by Quality Control. Despite all the work I had just had them do, they would not budge or offer any concessions. I have no complaint on the quality of work or the employees. Their flat rate for jobs is a rip off and I will not have them do any further work for me and would recommend that you get a competitive bid before authorizing work! No Inspector ever came either. Very unhappy!!Lion Home Service

All of our pricing is given up front and prior to work being started. Signatures for approval of that work is also required prior to starting the work as well, so there are no surprises and any concerns regarding cost or work to be done can asked at that time, or at any time along the way. The charge for the dig itself is for manpower, the tight location (difficult access in a crawl space) and pouring of the concrete to include equipment, tools, and supplies. Our rates are flat an based on average industry time to complete that task. If it takes longer, we will not return to the customer looking for more money because the project is taking longer than expected. And there are occasions where a project takes less time than the average. Regarding the inspection, a letter with the permit and next steps for scheduling the inspection is mailed about 6 weeks post completion of work. This is a result of the timeline from getting final documentation from the city/town/county. That paperwork will advise you on how to schedule your inspection. This is done by the customer to prevent frustration with a middleman trying to coordinate schedules of the inspector and the customer. We encourage a second opinion in an effort to ensure our clients are comfortable with their purchase, especially on a high dollar job. This way we can answer any questions that *** arise.Review fromJR C

1 starBeware. Called for a plumber. Inquired the cost. $29.00 to send a plumber to look at the situation. Asked the cost to fix the faucet leak, could not tell me. Did not know the hours etc. to fix. Plumber was here working less than two hours. Charge: $990.00.Turns out, they did know the cost when I made my appointment. It is a FLAT rate. They are NOT upfront. Will never use again!!!Lion Home Service

Our cost to send a tech out (dispatch only fee) is $29 which is advised at time of booking. Our Customer ********************** Representatives do not have access to pricing due to the variables related to individual homes. Old plumbing vs new pluming, access to the issue, etc are all factors that can change the pricing. We cannot give pricing accurately without seeing the issue. In addition, pricing was provided to you prior to the work being performed. This was signed off and authorized for prior to starting work, and we do this to allow clients to choose the best option for their situation and finances. Again, the ***s do not have visibility to pricing, so cost was not known by the *** when the customer called in.Review fromJeannette S

1 starWe called to have out HVAC system serviced and the water heater. The project manager, *******************************, came out and told us what all needed to be done on the furnace. The estimate was $1054.10. The date was Dec. 19. 23. A service technician came out and did the work. When he was finished, we tested the furnace and it was running VERY loud. We told him that it had not run this loud before and he became defensive right away and said he did not change anything and would not investigate further. We called the office and they sent someone else out and he said everything looked ok. We had to wait for an installation manager to come out. He never showed up or called. We called again and they sent out an experienced tech who told us that the furnace was running too hot and it blew out all of the fire damper springs. That needed to be replaced. We were unable to use the system and had no heat for 2 days. At that point we called another company and they checked. The furnace was running high (158 degrees) . They replaced all the parts and fixed the problem. They found that the gas was set too high. The safety mechanism will come on at 160, that is what broke the system. I just called to let them know what is happening and wanted to talk to the owner. All they could offer that someone will call back within 48 hours.Very dissatisfied customer here!!! Minus stars if that would be possible!Lion Home Service

Our goal is to always have our clients be comfortable and safe in their homes. After the initial visit in December, customer called back in to advise of loud noise coming from the furnace. We returned to verify the unit was working correctly and there were no issues. At no point were we advised that the unit was not functioning or that they had no heat. When our install manager went to the home, he verified again that the unit was working to specifications and identified that the issue was with the fire dampers in the registers and that their housing authority needed to be notified for those repairs. The fire dampers are not something we work on therefore any work we did prior to this issue would be unrelated to the work we did.Review fromDanita M

5 starsMy technician, ***************************** was beyond wonderful. We got chatting about working for Lion Home Service. It sounds like they are a fab company to work for. When I had my furnace and hot water tank installed a couple of years ago, those guys had the same thing to say about this company.Lion Home Service
