Went on website to explore possibly getting an order. Had to go all the way to the point of ordering to see prices and options. Once it was clear I didn't want anything. I had to cancel a subscription that I didn't choose and didn't want. Removed the payment info before I left the site and received email stating I canceled that minute, that was 1/17/23. I woke up to two charges on my debit card Monday morning, 6 days later. One for $17.98 and another $50.03. Charges are pending and I will file with bank to get resolution. I continue to have problems with Green ************ (and it's affiliates). This is my 2nd complaint to BBB (last one on 8-10-22.) On ****-2023, I tried to get in to my account to change/skip/verify a meal delivery for ****. I could not access my account because website stated my "account was de-activated". I did "not cancel, nor de-activate" my account! I tried 3 times to get in to my account, and/or change my password to gain access to my account, so I could see the recent Order History. Finally, I contacted "agent on chat" to verify if my account was de-activated. Agent said "yes, it was de-activated". I told them "I never cx'd or de-activated my account". I told CS agent, "since it appears de-activated now, "without my approval", I will give my approval now to de-activate, and keep it that way!", as I was very upset. Agent then "confirmed" to me my "account was de-activated", per my request "at that time, on Chat". The next day, on 1-20-2023, I see Green Chef has "debited my bank $112.31, for the meal order for **** (which is the very meal order I was trying to "verify/skip/change", when I found out my account had been "de-activated" BEFORE I finally did on the chat conversation of ****.) Now, I have been charged $112.31 for a meal order "after" my account was "de-activated" & "confirmed it was de-activated", twice, "during the chat conversation". I am totally frustrated and angry about this latest s**** up. Very similar to mistakes made by GC last year about "de-activating" my active acct w/ Factor75); and, sending me food from another acct w/Home Chef, which had been "cancelled" for almost 2 years! I want a full refund of $112.31, as I have been wasting way too much of my time/efforts in dealing with this company (and it's affiliates), in trying to "un- scramble" their messes. (All this is too bad, because I have been mostly very satisfied with the competitive prices for this service, and enjoyed a wide variety of meals to choose from.)Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. This is an acceptance of refund of $112.31 for my previous complaint: However, on the same day as refund appeared in bank account, I see a "new charge" of $40.01. And today, I received a meal order box! I also received an email from GC, as a "general advertisement", to reconsider "skipping" orders. When I opened it and it went to GC website, I AGAIN see that my account has NOT been de-activated! So, today, "for the 3rd time, I manually de-activated my account"! I assume I must make another complaint following this mess up of charging me $40.01. I will now go back to BBB to file a 3rd complaint.

Good morning,I am writing you to ask your assistance in my recovering money from Green Chef.I became familiar with Green Chef the week of January 14, 2023. I entered all the required information required to register and view their menu options. Green Chef had automatically pre-selected three items that I did not care for. I zeroed them out and proceeded to look at other menu items. I did not care for anything Green Chef offers. I immediately deactivated my account. Today, Sunday January 22, 2023 I have an automatic bank debit of $32.78. I contacted green chef and their representative told me that they could not issue a refund. I explained that I did not care for the preselected items. I zeroed them out. I looked at other menu items they offered and I did not care for anything. I advised him that I immediately deactivated the account. I reiterated that you couldn't even see the menu items until you entered all your payment information. I didn't care for the preselected choices, I didn't care for anything that they offered. And I again told him that I had deactivated the count within minutes of opening it. He was adamant that they will not issue me a refund. I feel this is pretty much a hook if not a scam. I was previously a subscriber to Green Chef, but had cancelled last year. I went to my account because I was considering starting up again. But in order to review menu items, I needed to log into my account. Before I had even decided that I wanted to renew subscription, I learned that I was automatically charged by logging into my bank. I never gave authorization for the $113 charge. When I logged into my account, i saw that I still had an old address and that I had until 1/21/23 to make a decision to keep my order. I updated my address and decided on 1/21 that I did not want to receive an order due to the limited choices in meals. I called and was told that there had already been an order sent out on 1/19 to the old and incorrect address and that this charge would not be reversed! Since I never approved nor received the order I asked that the amount be reversed to which they refused.Business Response

We just received 2 boxes containing 8 meals and our credit card was billed $173.05. We DID NOT place this order. We would never order unprepared meals. I personally had a subscription with Green Chef for my family. I claimed the free box offer for my work where I am a cooking teacher. Green Chef continued to send boxes weekly. When I went to the website to cancel, there were ***************. There was no invoice information or account history associated with the school email and credit card number I entered. Green Chef charged my non-profit school over $836.55 for 9 boxes. 3 of the boxes were never received. I would like to request a refund for the 3 that were never received. $276. There were also 3 boxes that had spoiled food. Green Chef is guilty of deceptive practices and I need your guidance to hold them accountable.Business Response

I "deactivated" my account through Green Chef in December 2022. It was a lengthy process to even find on their website how to do this. Just today I was charged AGAIN. I contacted their support who stated they would not refund my charge of $90 though I had attempted to cancel this service. Had their instructions been more explicit, this could have been avoided.Business Response

I tried to look at the meal options for Green Chef on January 7, but the only option to do so is to put in your credit card information, which I did at 1:30PM. I chose meals and then decided I didn't want to move foward with the purchase or subscription and located the *** section to learn how to cancel my account. I followed the directions on the website which said you have now cancelled/deactivated account. I also got an email that stated my account was cancelled at 1:45PM, but did not notice that they were still going to deliver meals, which I thought I had cancelled already. On January 11 there were two charges on my account, one for the discounted promotional subscription of $55.08 and the other I was unsure of for $67.92. I called and chatted online with customer service and supervisors for over 3 hours (and was disconnected at least 5 times) and they continued to tell me it was too late to cancel the food order that has already gone out and to process a refund. The said the extra charge was for upgraded meals I had selected (which was not clear onthe website, nor was my intent or included on the original belling statement). I emailed my concerns also and did not receive a response back. Their practices seem to be purposefully confusing, shady, and misleading. Why they could not offer a refund or stop the order 6 days ahead of time seems unheard of. Or to comp the meal and offer a refund.I followed these directions then got the email, which is quite vague and does not specifically say to call in to cancel the meal delivery. I inferred that since my cancellation was successful the meals would be cancelled too since it was all within a 15 minute time frame and clearly within 7 days from the delivery date of January 17.Business Response

I was also charged a different amount than on the receipt. I asked for the order to be cancelled via customer service and to be refunded and was refused.

I am trying to remove my credit card information as well as my account from the Green Chef system but they are just giving me the runaround. I used the Green Chef meal delivery service for 19 weeks and finally canceled after they continued to send rotten food in the boxes. I started requesting that they remove my credit card information in October of 2022. The representatives I spoke with all assured me they would remove it, and then when not removed, said they had escalated the case to a supervisor and I would receive a call, but no call came and the card is still on the account. Then I finally was able to get a supervisor to call me back - that supervisor had the same name and same sounding voice as the representative I spoke to, so who knows if it was really a supervisor and he tried to get me to reactivate my account to prove to me that the card was deleted on their end, but was just not showing in the system. I did not fall for this trick. Now they are telling me it will take another ***** days to remove my card and my account - despite the fact that I have been doing this for more than 100 days now. I don't know what else to do and have no faith that they will actually remove any of my information. They say I can rest assured it will be done and I will hear from someone within this ridiculous time frame, but then also that if I don't hear from someone to reach back out to them at a different email address. And when I don't accept this as a response, tell me that a supervisor will reach out to me, but no one ever does. I always get a different representative whenever I reach out and I don't believe that anyone at this company is actually doing what they say they are doing. I just want my information removed from their system, which should be a thing I am able to do myself without going through all of this hassle.Business Response
