1 starWe bought our nighthawk less than a year ago. When called for technical support help, their customer service team is a sales team in disguise. In order to get help, we would have to pay $139 for technical support help to reconfigure the router. Well, considering how we didnt change the configurations before it suddenly stopped working, it felt very suspicious that all of a sudden almost exactly a year after buying the device that it would need this fix.We were also told by customer service that routers need to be reconfigured often. It feels more like a ploy to have me pay $139 every year when their product conveniently breaks. Id rather buy a router that works without the manipulation tactics. If you want a product that stops functioning in less than a year, highly recommend Netgear.Review fromTaylor D

1 starBought a wifi extensor that I was having trouble setting up. I called customer support and the first person told me I needed to have a firewall subscription for the product to work (not the case). When I said I wasnt interested he immediately hung up. From there the extender setup corrupted my real router. They then told me it would be $110 to uncorrupt my router. Just shady business practices that make you feel taken advantage of as a consumer.Review fromStephanie D

1 starNetgear has the WORST customer service and "technical support" of any company I have ever dealt with. You only have technical support for 90 days after purchase (they don't even give you a year...) and after that, if you need any technical support they charge you $139 for the year just to speak to an agent!!! Of course, you will likely only need one call so that's $139 for one phone call. Even though my netgear modem and router are still functioning and had several years left in them, I'm getting rid of their equipment and will gladly rent from Xfinity. Who ever thought I'd be praising Xfinity over another another company, as Xfinity has been notoriously difficult to deal with! However, they've been a great deal more helpful than the rude representative at Netgear who didn't help me at all! All I needed was a simple reset of my modem, which I refused to pay $139 for... I will never buy a Netgear product again!Review fromAngela M

1 starI have had a horrible experience with their customer service. I have not used their service in over 2 years and they still charged me an annual fee. I contacted them immediately for a refund and they have been putting me off with emails saying they are still working on it. It does not take 5 weeks to provide a refund for a service I have not used (product disconnected over 2 years ago) in years.Review fromPatrick C

1 starThe Netgear Orbi router works fine but their engineering team is pretty bad. I ran into an issue with the Smart Parental Control (main reason I bought the router), because of a firmware update. The engineering team couldnt get a fix even after 3 months, besides being non responsive regularly! Now, waiting for them to return the subscription I paid for the *** capability! Never again!Review fromGilbert J

1 starMy NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch worked for ONE MONTH then quit. I assumed that it would be replaced by the company. After 16 EMAILS from NETGEAR, most requiring a response of some kind, some lengthy, and three phone calls from Netgear's call center in *****, I finally was sent an RMA form that asked me to choose how fast my return shipping was to be. I chose, "No charge for return shipping," instead of the faster shipping choices. Then I got an email that said I was "responsible for freight charges for shipping the defective unit to NETGEAR." It weighs a pound. Ground Shipping via *** will be $14.07. The original NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Switch cost $18.99 and it's going to cost me $14.07 to get a REFURBISHED product returned? I consider that to be TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Sixteen emails and 3 phone calls for NOTHING.Review fromkevin k

1 starI bought a new Nighthawk router when my last one crapped out on me. The first one that was sent was defective, and then the second one that was sent had issues with the firmware so bad that I had to purchase the gearhead support to help get it resolved. Found out I couldn't use this router for the purposes i bought it for, and I was unable to get a refund. Now over a year later, I find out I am still getting charged for gearhead. my initial e-mail to the company went without a response and I just got charged again in february. Finally got a hold of somebody since I had no way to access my account to cancel it myself. They turned the auto renew off and I asked for a refund only on the latest subscription charge. Told me they'll contact my in 5-7 business days when my refund has been processed on February 11th 2023. It is now currently March 28 2023, and I've received multiple e-mails asking for 5 extra business days, or 7 extra business days and no other reason as to why it's taking so long. Two weeks ago, I had to personally send them another e-mail given that they were already 4 days past their previous 'deadline'. I'm so sick of dealing with companies that appear to just be trying to scam you out of any money they can. I will never recommend netgear routers, or netgear services for anyone, considering that nearly everything the Gearhead support had me try with the router I had already attempted on the internet, only thing that I needed help with was I believe they called it 'flash freezing' the router and reinstalling the firmware because they are perfectly willing to ship out defective product to begin with. The only thing I wanted was a refund for the gearhead support subscription service because they are useless. Only ever called them once over a year ago, and they've continued charging me for their useless service. Beyond that, I was only asking for the most recent charge to be refunded.Review fromThomas D

1 starNERGEAR RAX120v2 terrible product that continually resets and is unusable!!Bought the NERGEAR RAX120v2 as a upgrade to a NETGEAR R8900 router. The RAX120v2 is constantly resets due to an overheating issue. Bought on Amazon and tried to send to back, but was past the 30 days in unopened box rule. 1) Contacted NETGEAR and received terrible customer support - spent one month discussing with customer service before they would consider replacing. Originally requested a different model that the RAX120v2 - since the overheating issue is well documented. NETGEAR refused to send any other model. 2) NETGEAR agreed to send a replacement model if I paid to send the defective modem back. I paid to had defective model shipped back and received the REFURBISHED RAX120v2 model 3) The refurbished Modem they sent performed worse that the one I sent back. It reset at least 15 times a day. Contacted NETGEAR and they gave me the same response as the first time - no resolution. NETGEAR said it was where I had router placed, the outlet, or wiring. 4) I then replaced the router with a different model, placed in same location connected to same outlet and same wiring. There has been no issue for 2 months.5) Have continued to contact NETGEAR every week for the past 6 weeks for a refund for the defective refurbished modem. EVERY time i contact the story is the same - NETTGEAR understand the issue and it has been moved to "escalation team". After numerous time contacting NETGEAR i ask to speck to "escalation team" direct. SUPRISE-you not allowed to talk to the "Escalation team" or write them-as they have no phones or address.I am still waiting and talking to my lawyer to determine next steps - as i have received no resolution for 2 months. The RAX120v2 is a terrible product that NETGEAR should stop selling (25% of amazon reviews are a "1". Based on my experience with customer support - people should probably look at buying something from a different manufacture.Review fromJason M

1 starNetGear is complete crooks just like everyone else has explained!! My router came with a 1 year free trial to some kind of VPN, they sent me an email that my year was about up. I did not want to renew it so I went on their website and app to cancel it. They did not have any way to cancel it so I emailed and called on numerous occasions but they would not answer the phone or reply to my emails. I checked my payment method saved with them so that I could remove it. Their site showed that I did not have a payment method saved with them. So I assumed it would be fine and that they couldnt charge anything to me. But lo and behold my PayPal gets charged $100.00. I try to get in touch with them again with no success again. Luckily PayPal understood that it was a fraudulent company and returned my money. Beware of NetGear!!!!!
