      Several months ago, I foolishly subscribed to Scribd not knowing that the "free trial" offer was not free. I was subsequently billed twice within that "30-day free trial" offer so I tried cancelling my membership. Unfortunately, for the subscriber anyway, you cannot contact them by phone so I tried using their chat line to do so and was given a ticket number via email for my complaint. Upon looking at the email they sent me, there was no number, no acknowledgement of my complaint, nothing. I went onto their site and cancelled my membership and was told that I still had til mid-April to use the account. That was in March. I contacted my bank and disputed the transaction. I was forced to change debit cards so they would no longer be able to withdraw any funds from my account. I thought all was well. Then, this morning I received a notice from my bank stating that Scribd had tried again to withdraw funds from my account but was denied...thank God! This company is a scam! If you look up Scribd online as an ereading option, there are reviews about it that say it's a good option to say Kindle Unlimited. What they don't tell you is that Scribd has multiple complaints against them for fraud. Buyer beware! If I could give Scribd less stars than one, I would.

      Their 30 day catalog policy isnt well explained and isnt transparent at all. It should be better stated how things work on their website upon subscribing. I hope one day something like Scribd will come along with a true unlimited amount of books and runs them out of business.

      I never subscribed to this service but somehow they accessed my credit card via Apple Pay and began charging me. I went on-line to cancel but no action. For months i received offers for a free or discounted trail even after they started charging my card. Eventually they provided a partial refund but refused the full refund. The balance of $25.71 they owed me was covered by my credit card company but I wanted to alert others to SCRIBD's fraudulent behavior.

      STAY AWAY! I got the app for one thing which I rarely used. I tried to cancel and they have made it impossible to do. My next step is just to tell me credit card company it's fraud.

      Scribd's claim of "read without limits" is deceptive has left me frustrated & betrayed. Their customer service is virtually non-existent. Scribd's misuse of "read without limits" tarnishes their credibility. Limited access, and deleted reading lists make it an unpleasant experience. Beware this false promise of "read w/o limits" b/c there are. Consider alternatives for genuine reading satisfaction. I've submitted 5 tickets, closed solved no response and my experience is now worse. Instead of trying to resolve the issue and save a customer, this is what the agent wrote to me " I'm happy to help if you'd like me to assist you in the cancellation process. Just let me know if you'd like to cancel now, and I'll take care of that for you." I am not satisfied with the agent or this company.

      I canceled my subscription well before today Dec 2 and was still charged $11.99. I went to the customer support and it said I canceled my subscription. I went further in and found what I need to get a refund but I have to wait to get my money back that this company stole from me! I canceled my subscription and money still was taking out. Please dont get the free trial, they are just gonna take your money after you cancel and make you wait. This is even if I get my money back. Please beware about using this company and their free trial. If you want to keep it cool but if not please dont get the free trial.

      I enrolled in a one-month free trial on Sept. 29, 2023 and canceled my membership in mid-October. I am 100% certain that I canceled the membership. Regardless, Scribd fraudulently charged me for the two subsequent months following my cancelation, stealing a total of $26.02. I emailed customer service twice demanding a refund, but have not received a response. Scribd is running a blatant scam and needs to be stopped.

      Scribd began with many good books but all disappeared without explanation. This service is not free. We should not be charged premium prices for old or obscure books. Please improve your selection or allow refunds dissatisfactory service.
