1 starMy family has been subscriber since 2023, consistently opting for the annual plan and valuing the benefits it provides. Unfortunately, recent experiences have raised serious concerns about the direction of the companys policies and its commitment to customer satisfaction.We were explicitly informed our legacy account would be retained under the existing terms. This promise was subsequently withdrawn without clear justification.?The communication surrounding the recent price increase deviated from industry best practices. The lack of advance notice and detailed rationale undermines the trust that long-term members place in the brand. Transparent pricing strategies are essential for maintaining goodwill, especially among early adopters who have supported the platform.Attempts to resolve these issues through executive support channels have been repeatedly unsuccessful. Our tickets have been closed without dialogue suggesting a systemic shortfall in addressing escalated concerns.?Finally, I am concerned about the alignment of the current leaderships expertise with the unique needs of a community focused on books, education, libraries, and cultural engagement. While the new CEO brings valuable experience from a military and financial background, there appears to be a gap in familiarity with nurturing literary and educational ecosystems transparently that are central to this service. Will not recommend this service to anyone.Scribd

1 starImpossible to cancel, my ****** was getting charged and when I went in to my account I had no subscriptions, so not sure why or how they could still charge me. No phone number, no live agents, just email form looks like automated replies, no humans. Luckily ****** is disputing the charges and blocking further charges. Worst customer service I have seen at what looks like a legit company. MY BBB rating = F+Scribd

1 starLike every other review on this site, I have had nothing but bad experiences with this organization. I discovered that they have been charging me for their "service" for the past year, though I NEVER subscribed nor authorized any payments. They are removed money directly from my bank account after somehow gaining access to my routing number - (not even through my bankcard). The account, it was stated, was through an email account that I have not had ANY ACCESS TO for over a year - (I retired from that university). As mentioned by others, they have NO TELEPHONE NUMBER and NO LIVE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES to assist you, answer questions, or solve situations. Instead, I have been forced to deal with email messages. I specifically stated that I wanted my money refunded and they stated that they cannot do that as it has to be handled through my bank - (what?). They said that I had multiple accounts with them - (again a big "what?" from me) and they were merging them into one. They then stated that this "new" account was under the email address that I specifically claimed that I had NO ACCESS to. Obviously, they are a very careful and trustworthy organization. I asked to have EVERY ACCOUNT associated with my name CANCELLED and CLOSED. Now, my fear is what others have reported, they will just keep on billing me! STAY AWAY......FAR AWAY.......MILES AWAY.......EVEN FURTHER......from this company!!!! They have no interest in customer service, honesty, nor responsiblity!Scribd

1 starI recently published my book in mid-June of 2025, performed a ****** search, and was shocked to find my eBook version being offered free on the Scribd ******* subscription service website. I never authorized that. My repeated attempts to get Scribd to take down my book has been unsuccessful. They simply refuse to respond. Not only do I need my book taken down (I am considering legal action), I need to understand how this could have happened! I spent six very long years writing my book. For them to steal it and profit off of it without paying me royalties is unconscionable.Review fromZach H

1 starPlease for the love of god stay away from this company. It will be cheaper to buy the texts you are looking for one time with a legitimate company such as ****** I canceled my subscription in January 2024 after a full year of use. Received a cancellation email and thought I we were square. However almost 1.5 years later I see they still have been charging me every month for $12 despite the cancellation and no record of these transactions on their website. This is predatory and they most certainly are doing this intentionally. The lack of a customer billing phone number also alludes to this. Amidst the process of receiving a refund now. 1 starI have been a HUGE user and fan of everand for years, i used it almost daily. i told everyone and anyone about this amazing service. BUT out of nowhere they canceled my plan and tried to blame. ******* cancelled my membership with zero explanation or warning, they first claimed it was my fault so i sent screenshots disproving this. then they blamed my bank, again sent screenshots after speaking with my bank directly. After i disproved every excuse they tried to come up with, they finally admitted that THEY themselves Terminated my subscription manually and will not provide any explanation even though there was no violation stating i have no more information on the reasons for the deactivation. Well, i do. I was grandfathered into my affordable subscription from years ago and by cancelling my subscription for unknown reasons i would be forced to re-subscribe with a new plan, unable to get back my original plan because it is no longer offered to new customerswhich i am NOT. Now they are trying to force me to buy a more expensive and significant less valuable subscription. incredibly dishonest, manipulative, and greedy business practice. My ENTIRE book club pays for individual subscriptions but now we all have to cancel and move to audible.Scribd

1 starI was told by a friend that Scribd/Everand was a good audiobook site, so I decided to give it a try. Initially, I enjoyed the service. However, wanting to cut back on some expenses, I decided to cancel my subscription with the possibility of picking it up again later.
A couple of months later, I noticed issues with my account and insufficient funds, and I wasn't sure why. When I investigated, I discovered that Scribd was still deducting money from my bank account even though my subscription had been canceled. When I checked my account I saw that they had taken money for three consecutive months.
When I brought this to their attention, customer support seemed confused and didn’t understand my issue. I provided them with screenshots showing the withdrawals over the three months, as well as emails confirming that I no longer had an account with them. Despite this, I am still fighting to get my refund back. I have also disputed the charges with my bank, but they claim that they are trying to resolve the issue on their end as well.
I am very disappointed with Scribd for either their mistake or what feels like theft. I might have considered subscribing again, but this experience has left me frustrated. It's been a disappointing ordeal filled with what feels like theft by deception and a lack of empathy.

1 starThis company has stolen my money and has refused to give me a refund. I have contacted them numerous times. They took the money on Januray 4th. 2025 and I have never recieved any of the in-app purchases that they took money from. If i could give this company 0 stars I would.Scribd
