I am filing a complaint against ************** for an unfair and inconsistent account suspension. On August 12, 2025, my account was locked until September 10, 2025, for alleged violations of their Be respectful to your neighbors guideline. The suspension stems from a heated discussion thread where multiple participants used similarly strong or insulting language. For example, one participant posted:Maybe your kid is the raging a****** you think everyone elses kid is.Despite other users making equally or more inflammatory remarks, my account was the only one suspended. This shows clear selective enforcement of Nextdoors moderation policies.I was also given no prior warning or chance to edit or remove my comments before being locked out. Their appeal process is opaque and does not allow members to present full context or evidence of enforcement inconsistencies.I request the following resolutions:Immediate review and reversal (or reduction) of my suspension with full context considered.Consistent application of rules to all members in a discussion, not selectively.A transparent and accessible appeal process allowing members to provide evidence and receive clear explanations for disciplinary actions. This is not just about my own account access, but also about ensuring fairness, consistency, and accountability in Nextdoors moderation practices.Additionally, you are once again in violation of my first amendment rights and my right to freedom of expression. Profanity not directed at a person is not a problem why do you enforce it as such? Finally, you are at risk of me terminating my account effective immediately.

    Business Response

The neighbor had been suspended two times prior which is why the length of the suspension is as high as it is. Each time they agreed to stay within the guidelines before rejoining.

We don't share neighbor details with other neighbors, but each neighbor is responsible for their own content. It's quite possible action was taken on the other neighbors, but those actions may have been different depending on their account history.

Emailed Nextdoor for information regarding my account flagged due to "account compromised" response. here is my email content:"I am requesting all evidence supporting your statement regarding my account being compromised and the specific details pertaining to your decision. If my account was compromised I need this information to take immediate action to protect my personal information."Below is the response:Hi neighbor, Thanks for asking questions regarding the security of your account. We sincerely apologize, but we are unable to disclose how our ************** team takes action on accounts, even to users who may be affected. As per company policy, we're not allowed to provide further specific information regarding the reason for disabling, but our system detected recent suspicious activities in your account. As part of our process on Trust and Safety, we have to flag the account. This restriction is in place to: Protect the privacy of all users, including those involved in a report. Preserve the integrity of our enforcement processes. Prevent misuse of internal systems and avoid revealing information that could help others bypass our safety mechanisms. We recognize that this might be frustrating, but please know that we review all reports carefully and take appropriate action in line with our policies and community standards. I know this isn't the answer that you hoped for, but we thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a safe and respectful platform. Best, *** ******* Nextdoor I would like the information to be provided in order to put rotections in place for my personal information as they had stated my account was compromised.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/14/2025

The neighbor has received multiple instructions about how to get their account back. They are also using a fake name and the reason we're not sending details is in case that account has actually been compromised.

    Complaint: 23720210

I am rejecting this response because: I have contacted Nextdoor and was never told I was using a "fictitious" name (which was my question to begin with). My personal account had been re-established per instructions but the account in question is for my business and I was never given instructions for it.   I have attached my proof of business to prove it is not a fictitious name.

    Sincerely,

    **** *********

The neighbor is using a name of a store rather than their personal name, which is why their account is suspended. ******** has a real name policy.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: 23720210

I am rejecting this response because: This response does not address that the "account was compromised" as Nextdoor stated. A simple response that they used the wrong terminology in suspending the account by calling it a "compromised account" and actually stating it was rejected due to using a business name (although I see businesses on the app).

When stating "compromised" I assume the following:

A compromised system, account, or password is often a result of being hacked, as "compromised" means it has been accessed or controlled by an unauthorized party. While hacking is a common way a system becomes compromised, other factors like phishing or exploiting software flaws can also lead to a compromise.

What does "compromised" mean in a cybersecurity context?
    Access by unauthorized parties:
It signifies that an entity other than the legitimate owner has gained access to information or a system.
    Loss of integrity or confidentiality:
When a system is compromised, its confidentiality (secrecy) or integrity (accuracy and trustworthiness) is adversely affected.
    Potential for further attacks:
A compromised system can be used for malicious activities, such as sending spam from an email account or redirecting users to fake websites.

If this is the case then I should have a right to know how this occurred so I can protect my interests. If it was not "compromised" then I am owed a simple apology for the improper wording.

    Sincerely,

    **** *********

Nextdoor claims to support respectful, local conversation. In reality, the platform is being used in ************** for coordinated political suppression, aided by biased moderation, insider manipulation, and a broken appeals ********** a 37-year ************** resident. Over the past several months, Ive had multiple civic posts removed, including respectful, fact-based public speeches delivered at City Council meetings. These are First Amendment-protected expressions of civic engagement. When I followed instructions from Nextdoor Support (Case #********) to revise one post by removing a flagged sentence, I was told the new post violated spam policies. Another support agent later contradicted that guidance. This is intentional goalpost-moving that punishes users for following the rules.Meanwhile, users aligned with a banned elected official (Councilmember ** ******) continue posting false claims, coordinated attacks, and personal harassment including statements that constitute civil libel with no consequences. These individuals appear to have insider access or protection. Their content stays up; dissent is silenced.Nextdoor is also aware that ** ****** is using multiple surrogates to post city-related business despite his permanent ban. This violates both Nextdoors Terms of Use and its own Community Guidelines, as well as Washingtons Public Records Act. By allowing these surrogates to act on his behalf, Nextdoor is enabling unlawful circumvention of transparency laws and potentially facilitating further violations.I respectfully request: Review and reinstatement of all removed posts Public accountability for moderation Suspension of accounts abusing the platforms reporting tools or operating as banned-user surrogates Until these are addressed, Nextdoor should not advertise itself as a neutral civic platform. It is enabling manipulation, suppression, and legal circumvention.

    Business Response

The reason why the neighbor is being reported for spam is because of the continued discussion about the same thing over and over. We've been in touch with *** frequently about how the guidelines work, including publicly shaming another member.

    Complaint: 23700823

I am rejecting this response because:   BBB Rebuttal Case #********
Complainant: *** **** ************** *****************************start="220" data-end="223"> ********s response to my complaint is incomplete. They framed my posts as spam or public shaming, but ignored clear evidence of coordinated flagging, biased moderation, and unequal enforcement.
    Key Points with Evidence
Coordinated Flagging (Exhibit A Bonny **** ****** post)
Users openly admit to flagging posts in groups so they will get taken down. This is targeted suppression, not organic moderation.
Lead Bias and Report Interception (Exhibit B **** **** thread)
******** Leads are supposed to model fairness. Instead:
Lead ******* ****** is openly endorsing candidates and liking partisan attacks by ****** ****.
Reports against those same posts go nowhere, while my fact-based civic posts are removed.
This shows that Leads are not only participating in partisan behavior but also intercepting reports and stopping enforcement. That makes the platform structurally biased insiders determine which voices are silenced.
    Unequal Enforcement (Exhibit B)
Coalition-aligned users post misinformation, accusations of collusion, and personal harassment with no consequence. My posts quoting City Council proceedings and legal filings are repeatedly removed.
Diversion in ***************************start="1518" data-end="1521"> ******** reduced my concerns to spam and shaming, avoiding the real issue: banned-user surrogates and biased Leads are gaming the platform to suppress civic speech.
    Requested Resolution
    Acknowledge and address coordinated flagging.
Investigate Leads like ******* ****** for political bias and abuse of role.
Ensure Leads cannot intercept reports to shield their allies.
Apply enforcement consistently, including to surrogates of banned officials.
Reinstate fact-based civic posts wrongfully removed.
    Conclusion:
******** markets itself as a civic platform for respectful, local conversation. In reality, Leads and their allies are able to intercept reports, suppress enforcement, and protect political insiders. That is not unbiased moderation it is selective censorship that misleads users and the public.

I am a Lawyer in **********, affiliated with a national group of attorneys, judges, and former prosecutors working on legal cases against the *************************. Next-Door allegedly bans discussions regarding "National Politics," yet it allows ***** supporters and ***** ***** supporters to discuss "National Politics" all day long and mostly unbridled. Whenever an anti-***** post is made, it typically gets deleted IMMEDIATELY, or the Moderators jump in *** **** with their bullying and intimidation tactics, while supporting the ***** / MAGA crowd! When you protest the egregious treatment and unfair application of the rules against any anti-TRUMPERS, you get insulted, publicly slandered, and your account gets suspended. This egregious conduct appears to permeate the company's entire culture and they give consumers no way to address and pursue serious situations. There are even cases where certain rogue Moderators are "subjects of interest" in retaliation cases by Moderators and complaining consumers.

On February 20th Nextdoor support gave my personal phone number out to a trucking company in ************* **. In 2021 my account was suspended for sexual content that I did not post. This company has refused to delete my personal phone number. I was bullied for not agreeing with the community guidelines on sexual content on the Nextdoor platform. I have contacted Nextdoor support several times but they lied and said they emailed me and did not. Nextdoor support keeps emailing an email that doesnt exist. Nextdoor platform is also racist towards the gay community and suspends accounts for no reason.

My account was "disabled" for "not using my real name" which is strange as my real name is ****** ****-******** or ****** **. **** is my Maiden name. Furthermore, I have a long standing business linked to my Next-door Profile and Next-door app, *******************. Additionally, I was the Original Next-door Founding Member and Lead since 2013. I literally worked for ******** as a Contractor from in ********************* ********* and Visited ************* whete Next-door is headquartered. This appeal is seeking to overturn what appears to be targeted ************ ************* such, it is truly insulting to say I'm not using my real name. As a Former Elected Local Official in ****************** from *********, I used MY NAME ****** ****-********. ****** RW is a shortened version of my name. A simple ****** Search could verify exactly who I am and plus my picture has been on the account since the year 2014.This "suspension" for allegedly "failure to use a real name" is literally a complete fallacy and an insult. I would like my account immediately restored as I equally have a business account on Nextdoor and that business account has over a number of HIGHLY POSITIVE Reviews stating about our business (which is BBB A+ Accredited) is operated inside of the same area. Also, in light of all of this, I demand a formal apology in Writing As Well from the Director Neighborhood and Member Experience (or other associated title) with Next-door or its CEO, directly.

No transaction, but a sanction against my account. I was suspended wrongfully and erroneously. My original appeal is below."I understand the importance of being respectful. While I did swear, it wasnt aimed at anyone and wasnt meant to offend. It was just an expression of frustration. Ill be more careful with my words moving forward. I ask you to please reconsider."Id also like to hold ************* in contempt of the constitution and all its amendments including our right to free speech and expression including swear words that are non threatening and non racist, bigoted, or otherwise not protected under free speech rights. I need help with getting my name removed from an account on Nextdoor. It's listed as ***************** *** ********-***** ************. I was a producer for the agency on ************, which is showing on the map listed on this account. I left this agency in 2021, and I no longer sell insurance. The strange thing is that the email address listed on this Nextdoor account is the address for me when I was going through the process of becoming an agent and opening my own office ( I just realized that today). So, it's showing a map of the agency I worked for as a producer, and an email address from when I was becoming an agent, which are two different roles. I'm confused about this whole thing and concerned. I don't remember ever creating this account. I stumbled upon this account last year when I ******* my name and it popped up. I had never heard of Nextdoor before this. I contacted Nextdoor in August 2024, with no response to me. I provided my address, phone number, and email address, which is listed on this complaint. I tried contacting them today, but there website would not allow me to submit my contact request. So, that is why I'm contacting you for help. Thank You

Please reach out to Nextdoor Support about this. It looks like there was an attempt to do so last year, but there was no followup.

Make sure you include the links in which your name is showing up and which email address shows up.

I am rejecting this response because: I have already tried several times to contact this company over the last year and have been unable to speak to anyone. In my opinion, their website is not user-friendly. I would like to know why they didn't reach out to me a year ago, when I brought it to their attention that I was not aware of ever creating this account and no longer in this business. I simply want my name removed from their website. If they need to contact me, that's fine, but I am not going through the hassle of trying to contact them anymore. I've tried for almost a year now.

    Sincerely,
