1 starSeems like there is discrimination at work in the selection process. I own a classic 1979 ******** hot rod with close to $200,000 in documented improvements and was turned down by BAT. They would not allow me to post my car for sale and offered no logical explanation. My car was originally owned by my grandfather who purchased it new in 1979. It was passed down to my mother, father, and brother before finally making its way to me. I invested a ton of money and spent more than 10 years customizing the car, using the best of everything available. I have a professional appraisal and receipts for every ***** spent. They claim to carefully curate every car on the platform, yet there are multiple cars similar to mine but nowhere near as beautiful. Makes no sense and the worst part is the lack of professionalism in simply providing a clear policy detailing how the selection/qualification process works - because it doesn't.Bring A Trailer LLC

Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your Cadillac. We are sorry that we won't be moving forward.
To give you some additional perspective, we are a curated marketplace and are very selective with the modified vehicles we accept for auction as they tend to have a narrower buyer pool than more stock examples.
Ultimately, we want you to have a successful sale, and our team simply decided to go in a different direction based on our current volume and your requested reserve amount. We appreciate the merits of your car, its family history, and its modifications, and our decision does not mean it isn't desirable. As much as we hate to pass on any listing, it is a necessary part of our curation process.
We appreciate that you considered BaT Auctions and wish you best of luck with the sale. We hope to have the opportunity to work with you in the future.Review fromFred P

1 starI have had the worst experience with BAT. They are typical corporate mentality. They see they way and the bottom line and $$$$$$. I listed a vehicle to be sold on their auction website. Of course they offered their WHITE ************** for a large fee they would, photograph and present the car in a better fashion. My car however was just detailed in and out and including the undercarriage and professional photographed. So I chose the regular listing and supplied them with all they needed. The listing went live and bidders made bids and asked questions. I kept in touch with bidders and supplied them with any info asked. I kept bidders interested by sending more info and photos as the week went on. The auction was for 7 days. On day 5 a bidder bid enough to reach the reserve threshold and that means the car was being sold. He bid more than 25% more than last bidder. He , the high bidder asked a few detailed questions and I did the best to respond to the questions. End of all correspondence at the *** website. Since he out bid all others. The auction ended and immediately BAT charged the high bidder $2500 on his charge card. For three days , I received no response from BAT or new owner. When I finally text the new owner. He responded, "my bad" I am not paying you. I Bid on the wrong car. BAT said, "that sucks"We will gladly re-list your car....Funny, so they can sell it again and make more money. Well the buyer said he lost $2500, I asked BAT to give me that $2500 and we can resell the car for a lower reserve and they can get a chance to recoup their money. BAT response, we cant do that. The bidder might dispute the charge. This company is a money grabbing joke. Look online about the honor stories. I am the only one stuck. Paid $99 for an auction that blown up and a bidder refuses to pay after he chased any other bidders away and exposed my reserve. BAT want another chance to RELIST my car and s**** me again.Bring A Trailer LLC

We are sorry that the winner of your auction apparently bid in error and did not follow through with their bidding commitment. That is something we take very seriously. These post-auction situations are very rare, and in most circumstances our customers have been able to complete over ******* successful auctions. When issues do come up, we do our best to find a reasonable solution for everyone involved.Between all the different parties involved, BaT incurs a significant cost when we draft and host a listing on our site. Each listing, whether it is brand new or a relist, passes through multiple hands internally to ensure it is accurate and well-written. Once it is live, we have dedicated teams that monitor the comment section, ensure things run smoothly, and answer questions from sellers. While we can understand how you might feel that the fees we collected from the auction winner could be passed to you, the reality is that the fees paid by the buyer are a separate transaction between the buyer and BaT and those funds are not interchangeable between BaT and a seller. We will gladly relist the car for you, at no additional cost and with a clear explanation as to why it is back on the site, so that you can find a buyer and have the successful auction experience that so many of our customers have had.Review fromDAVID B

Thank you for your feedback. We rely a great deal on our community to help us make sure that the comments in our listings are constructive. We have a "flag as non-constructive" button for members to use, should they find a comment that they feel is not constructive to the listing. If enough users flag a comment, it is removed from the comment section. We also actively monitor our comment sections for comments that violate our posted rules, including political speech, slurs, personal attacks, etc. We aim to keep our comment sections a friendly and welcoming place for all of our users.Review fromGerard W

1 starI had listed a vintage car on BaT. A BaT member repeatedly posted negative comments about certain aspects of the vehicle and actively invited other members to acknowledge his opinions and do likewise. The same member then proceeded to bid on the vehicle. It seems fairly obvious that this bidder was trying to depress the value of the auction. I flagged the comments as not constructive but thats like trying to reel in a f*** After the auction BaT marked a significant amount of the other comments as not constructive. When I emailed my BaT agent to say I thought a BaT member was manipulating the auction, I got a response stating BaT appreciates my feedback.Bring A Trailer LLC

We understand your frustration with some of the commentary during your auction. Our open commenting system is imperfect, but giving interested parties the opportunity to discuss a vehicle at auction and ask questions of the seller is a vital part of what makes BaT work. The system removes comments that are flagged as non-constructive by multiple users (not by BaT). There is always an array of comments, some more critical than others. Being polite, accommodating, and active in the comments is one of the best ways for you to realize a successful auction. The comments you specifically mention were quite subjective about the color/type of seat upholstery. In our judgement this was simply a statement of opinion and not necessarily an effort to devalue the car.Review fromjames c

1 starI paid and they took a week to acknowledge payment despite it being an instant bank transfer. Then, they registered the car in ******* and I live in *********** and have never been to *******, but would love to go.Bring A Trailer LLC

Thank you for your feedback. We are working on improving the turnaround times and communication around payment processing, and we appreciate your patience. For registration, our partners at Caramel will provide temporary plates in all cases, even when permanent plates may transfer with the vehicle. The ensures that you will be able to use the vehicle while the active registration is transferred. Temporary registration and plates are often delivered from *******, as their DMV offers an expedited process to issue temporary registration across markets. At the same time, ******* works with your local DMV to get your permanent plates and registration issued. Your temporary registration is valid for 40 days. If it is set to expire in less than five days, please contact Caramel so they can send you another.Review fromSteven V

1 starI began listing my car with BaT a week and a half ago. I asked to raise my Reserve and they said no. So that was the first thing I was not happy with. I got everything they asked for quickly within a couple days and then they had my listing ready soon after. I approved it middle of last week. I asked when my auction would run and they said they had several of my car ahead of me. Not sure why it matters but ok. Someone who had looked at my car before I ever even started with BaT came and bought the car today. Well above the reserve, BTW. So I have sent them messages trying to get a response confirming they know I sold my car and should cancel my listing since the auction has not yet gone live. No reply. Given this is a time sensitive message I want them to acknowledge it ASAP. So then I tried to call and all of the phone choices go to VM automatically and indicate they will respond in 24 hours. Not acceptable. I need to know immediately that they understand my car has sold and I want the listing canceled and to not go to Auction. The 4th phone option went to their shipping department who does actually answer the phone. But the person there could not get me to anyone or even a manager. Any company such as this that makes it impossible to talk to someone cannot be trusted in my opinion. Verbal communication is sometimes necessary and this is one example. Not happy.Bring A Trailer LLC

Thank you for submitting your review. When scheduling listings on the site, we aim to schedule vehicles so that they are not directly competing with each other and time them so that each vehicle gets its time in the spotlight. We also aim to be as responsive as possible to urgent customer inquiries, and our various customer service teams prioritize those inquiries as they come in. In this case, though we were not able to immediately answer this phone call, we removed the vehicle from the scheduling queue within minutes and followed up with this customer within the hour. Thank you and congratulations on the sale of your vehicle, and we hope to have the opportunity to work with you again in the future.Review fromShawn T

1 starAt this point I must strongly recomend AGAINST using this service as a seller. If you r a buyer, its a great site for you in my opinion. The reason for my comment is they seem to have very little interest in the market value of your vehicle and helping you get a fair price. They want there 5k fee, so they try to wear you down to a reserve price this is BELOW trade-in/wholesale. Your better off using e-bay in my opinion. If anything changes I will let you know, but they have been wasting my time for over a week now and continue to ignore market values on Mecum that are only weeks old! Indeed, they refuse to recognize published sales, and just ignore you when you point it out to them. Very shady!Bring A Trailer LLC

We're sorry that we were unable to come to an agreeable reserve for your submission. When setting reserves, our curation team looks at a number of factors aside from recent comps, with an eye on settling on an amount that gives the vehicle a fair shot at selling while also understanding what the seller is willing to accept. Obviously that is a balancing act, and we work hard to keep that balance in place.Bring A Trailer LLC

1 starRude stuff that refused to enforce their own website rules. Allows user who never never bid or bought a car on the platform for years to attack each other in the comment section, then refuses to remove comments until the parent company Hearst executives are contacted and corporate lawyers are involved. I stopped bidding on a car because of the hostile environment allowed by BAT staff which in turn only costs the seller money because my high bid was going to be higher than what the auction ended for.Bring A Trailer LLC

We are sorry to hear that you were dissuaded from bidding on an auction due to your dissatisfaction with the comment section. Our knowledgeable and passionate community is a key component of BaT, and our comment sections are intended to be a place where that knowledge and passion can be demonstrated, to the benefit of buyers and sellers. The comments for this auction were moderated and flagged consistent with our posted commenting rules by both internal staff and members of the community. We appreciate your concern for the **************Review fromRedak H

1 starBring a trailer has no support once the auction ends. The highest bidder backed out because they could not afford the car.
