  I recently bought a car througjh ***. The transaction, in the final analysis went well. Only because I had very good seller. *** contracts transport - God help you when your new car gets damaged. No one is responible. Basically *** is a bunch of ************* based (yeah - Left Coast) computer nerds who could give a good p*** what your car experience is. The *** guy I spoke with on the phone was basically clueless - some poor soul they hiered with no real insight. They (***) void all bad reviews. Do yourself a favor and stick to Hemmings or *********** The in person auctions are all dealers dumping inventory. I have personally been shill bidded at Mecum and I know for a fact ***************************** has had shill biders. If you don't stick to these precepts you will be screwed.

We are a peer-to-peer marketplace, and though we are not party to the transaction between buyer and seller after the auction ends, our customer service team is ready and able to answer any questions buyers and sellers may have.Our shipping service does have it's own dedicated customer service staff, and our shipments are insured above industry standards should a vehicle be damaged in transit. Lastly, we do not censor or remove reviews, though we do reserve the right to moderate our comment sections on the site in order to ensure they remain civil and adhere to our posted commenting rules. Shill bidding (or any other attempt at collusion by buyers or sellers) is strictly prohibited.

  I will say honestly to anyone considering this venue either to sell or buy to stay clear of this company and its Business practices! In a little over 2 yrs Ive tried to list my cars only to be denied or told that they are to be sold only under a no reserve auction ! Ive seen junk on this site allowed to be listed that are sub par yet miraculously sold for astronomical prices? Normally I would never bother to write or comment on anything, however I can not emphasize to anyone even remotely thinking of dealing with these individuals to stay clear of them !

To give you some additional perspective, we are a curated marketplace and are very selective with the cars we accept for auction. Unfortunately, that means we are often faced with the difficult decision of turning down good cars from motivated sellers like yourself.Ultimately, we want you to have a successful auction. Based on the results of other similar vehicles we've had on the site, our curation team felt that we would simply be too far apart on reserve expectations to offer a listing at this time. We appreciate the merits of your cars and our decision does not mean they aren't desirable. We wish you the best of luck with the sale and hopefully we'll have the opportunity to work with you in the future.

  Bring a Trailer is a fraud. I purchased a F430 ******** posted a deposit and BAT did nothing to get my deposit back when the seller did not produce the car. Refunded their fee thats all. Also I tried to sell some items and with no reason they just did not approve what 8 Was trying to sale with no explanation or suggestions on how to resubmit. Tonight I bided on some rims and the last bid was mine for *******. My bid was confirmed when the time ran out. I was taking off on a plane at the end of the auction but was able to see that I was the final bidder when the time ran out. When I got a signal again the time had been changed and a new bidder won the bid at $2900.00. Further research showed this bidder had been a repeat customer on previous auctions. I have not been regular. It is clear that BAT manipulate the time to accommodate their regular bidders. Ive heard other people say this, but I did not believe it. Now I am a believer. This site needs to be shutdown from being able to do business. Also after reading all of the reviews they clearly are doing these things as a standard business practice. Someone needs to hold web based business owners accountable legally. Dont do business with this site. You will not get the result you are looking for. Sad today businesses like BAT do this and profit from it at the expense of innocent consumers.

  And the Goverment, authorities, etc., allow this. Thats why companies like BAT do this because they know the odds of them getting shut down or even to make it right to a bidder or seller is slim to none. Do business with this site at your own risk. Their are truly enough reviews that demonstrate their unethical business practices and also that the agencies that are supposed to hold them accountable simply do not and apparently have no desire to hold them legally accountable.Sad day that we live in when companies like BAT can conduct business like this.

  Also I tried to cancel my account after this last experience. They will not let you cancel your account. They currently have a $250.00 hold on my credit card for the fraudulent auction results.

  We did assist this customer with the attempted purchase of the ******* F430, though he paid a non-refundable deposit to the seller to have some work done on the car, and unfortunately that agreement was directly between this customer and that car's seller. This customer did bid on a set of wheels near the end of the auction, though they were later outbid before the auction ended. When a bid is placed the auction timer resets to two minutes to prevent sniping, and another bid was placed before that timer expired. We absolutely DO NOT manipulate bidding or the auction timer under any circumstances. Lastly, the hold on this customer's credit card was in relation to their bid on the wheels, and was released immediately following the end of the auction when they were not the winner. That *** take some time to reflect on their statement, depending on their bank. We have since deactivated their BaT account per their request.

  First, I shouldve done some online homework about Bring-A Trailer. Yelp 2-1/2 Stars out of 5. ConsumerAffairs.com only has 1 and 2-star ratings no 3, 4, or 5-star ratings. Better Business Bureau 2 stars out of 5.I have a **** VW Thing that has $30K invested in a complete restoration and new motor. It looks terrific, and it is in excellent condition. On the submission of the photos, *** stated that the reserve be set at $18,500 but stated that it would allow for the potential for room to go higher in the auction with competitive bidding. And but there's always the chance the bidding goes higher in the auction. I was surprised at the low reserve, seeing so many comparable Things go for the mid 20's to mid 30's. So, I the told the representative that there was no way Id take a chance of the Thing selling for $18,500 and lose that amount of money.When I inquired why the low reserve, BaT's representative *************************** told me the undercarriage was below par. The pans have high-quality undercoating, which is in good condition no tears or holes. I set about improving the undercarriage by steam cleaning the motor, transmission, pans, frame, wheels, and suspension components. Then the undercarriage was painted. I resubmitted new undercarriage photos to BaT.The response was the same $18,500 reserve. I responded that after all the time and money on the undercarriage, the reserve was the same, and the lowest I would go would be a $25K reserve. The response was I'm afraid this one is not going to be a good fit for us with a reserve in the $20s. The portrayal of ***'s position with regard to "being a good fit" of my vehicle's listing on BaT is spurious.I have serious questions about BaT transparency in dealing with potential clients... nowhere does BaT state that the company has the right to set a reserve price for listing a vehicle and reject listings based on the requested reserve of the vehicle.   Worthless form letter. Doesn't address BaT's advice to improve the look of the undercarriage to increase the value and raise the reserve. I spent $400 on cleaning and painting the undercarriage and resubmitted photos to BaT, BaT came back with the same low-ball reserve. BaT would lose several hundered dollars on the sale commission with a low reserve, but I would lose thousands of dollars on the sale.

  We do appreciate the extra effort and cost you incurred in having the underside of your VW cleaned and painted, though again our reserve recommendations are based on our market experience and history on the site with this model. We never want to see anyone dissatisfied with their auction result, though as the purpose of an auction is to sell the vehicle, we tend to be conservative when setting reserves. We understand that can be lower than some sellers are able to accept, and we would certainly welcome the opportunity to resume that conversation via your submission if you would like.

BaT is a curated marketplace and we unfortunately cannot accept every vehicle that is submitted for consideration. We appreciate the merits of your bike, but I'm afraid that with our current volume the team simply decided to move forward in a different direction at this time. This does not mean that your bike isn't desirable.We appreciate that you considered BaT Auctions. As much as we hate to pass on any listing, it is sometimes a necessary part of our curation process.   The overall experience was poor and I do not recommend ***. I paid for the ad on August 23rd and it did not go live until September 30th. Had I known this ahead of time *** would not have been an option. They should disclose upfront before the ad is paid for that the ad may take up to 6 weeks to go live. The ad they developed did not highlight the strengths and unique features of the vehicle. They use a cookie cutter template for developing the ad. They allow too many negative comments that are personal opinions, which in my case served to discredit the cars value. I was offered 100k and 115k for my vehicle prior to the *** auction, but due to the unjust negative comments the high bid was 75k. After the *** auction I was offered 105k. In addition, high end vehicles should have a starting bid assigned to them, it serves no purpose for each auction to start at 0$. The overall process needs improvement so each seller receives maximum value for their vehicles.

Lowering wait times across the board is a priority for us, and we've implemented some new tools and features that enable us to do that. You are correct that you paid your listing fee on 8/23, though it's fair to note that we did not receive a complete photo gallery from you until a month later, which was part of the delay in getting the auction started. As for the language in the ad, we have honed the BaT "voice" over the course of 80k+ auctions, and our experience has shown that it is best to state things clearly and plainly without embellishment, and to let the car speak for itself as much as possible. We understand that *** not serve to highlight the aspects you wish to highlight, however that is why we encourage sellers to be active in the comment section to answer questions and speak to their specific experience with the car. Our open commenting system *** not be perfect, however part of what makes BaT successful is the ability for bidders to ask questions and critique the car at hand, which enhances bidder confidence. Many of our users are very knowledgeable, and the expertise they bring to the site is part of what gives people confidence to bid.We appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, and we sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to work with you again in the future.

  I submitted an application to get my vehicle posted for auction. I asked for a specific reserve price and I was told that they feel the reserve is too high. My research indicated based on 4 vehicles matching RELATIVELY close in mileage and condition are selling for *****K. How does a company tell me what a reserve price is going to be and then not accept what I want?Tell me a reserve price of 21K so If no one bids you can scoop the car up and profit. This website is a scam and needs to be shut down by BBB

Ultimately, we want you to have a successful auction, and as the goal of an auction is to sell the vehicle, we tend to be conservative in setting reserves. To be very clear, BaT does NOT purchase vehicles from our own auctions or collude in any way with buyers or sellers to influence the results of our auctions. If an auction ends without bidding meeting the reserve, the seller keeps the vehicle.
