      Date of Transaction: 5/14/2024 Amount: $55 Description: My computer was blocked for no reason. All of a sudden JustAnswer.com came on line and offered to help for $1.00. Obviously in the small print was a statement that it was $1.00 + $55 membership fee. I never agreed to a $55 membership fee. I canceled the membership. This is a scam. As soon as my PayPal account was charged the $56 my computer was unblocked. I want a full refund from this company and will be watching my PayPal account to ensure that I am not charged any additional fees.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  However, I am concerned about this company's practices.  Given the number of recurring complaints submitted to BBB, I would urge BBB to investigate this company and, if appropriate, take action to stop what appears to be anti-consumer behavior.

      This site is a complete scam!!!! I googled a veterinary question as my cat had ingested something that *** have been toxic, and was brought to this site. After explaining the whole situation to an AI Chat Bot, they required me sign up for the site and told me word for word that it would be a $5 FULLY REFUNDABLE fee to receive an answer from an expert to my question. As soon as I moved through the sign up page, my card was charged $5 as well as an extra $35 for a membership fee that was NOT advertised anywhere. After sending multiple messages to customer service team who would rather argue back and forth than admit that they scammed me, I find out my question and entire conversation was posted to the site WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I had a simple phone call with the expert - I never once filled out any kind of question post and hit send. I didnt even know my information would be made public in any form that I assumed was confidential within a chat service and phone call. This company preys on those who are vulnerable and in need of an urgent response to a concerning circumstance and takes advantage of customers through deceit, telling them they need to sign up for the site to receive an answer but its all refundable so dont worry!!! and uses their information in ways they do not consent to IE creating an account on your behalf, posting your personal information, and charging your credit card for a membership you did NOT agree to!!! This needs to be refunded ASAP.

      I used this service for a one time payment, it was only a couple of dollars to ask a question and receive an answer. The question was quick, directs to my personal phone through texting. Now Ive been charged monthly for a couple of months! The kicker is, I dont have an account, no registered email, username, anything! Now Ive been stuck waiting to get in touch with customer care. So frustrating.

      I was forced to sign up for a monthly subscription before getting an answer to a mental health question and never received any help or answer of any kind yet could not and did not get a refund.

      My puppy had an issue with their ear and I needed to try and figure out what was wrong so I found just answer.com and was told I would be charged a fee of five dollars question. I was entering my credit card information. I signed up for a subscription that would be charged monthly at $35. I did not agree to this and I asked customer service to, refund me the $35 after canceling my subscription they refused. I asked as a courtesy one time courtesy to do such and they still refused. I did not agree to signing up not to mention your representative. Failed to tell me that entering my credit card would sign me up for a $35 monthly Enrollment

      On Feb. 16 I thought I was contacting Whirlpool to get info about my washer which had sprung a drain problem. Apparently, it went to Just Answer which I did not realize. I was directed to pay a one time fee of $5 for a question but they required me sign up for a subscription which I was told could be canceled right away. I asked my question and 24 minutes after starting the online interaction, I canceled the subscription. The bill was paid on my wife's Discover card. When she got a bill there was this unknown $40 charge from Just Answer (remember I thought I was interacting with Whirlpool and didn't know about Just Answer). She filed a dispute with Discover and now after 3 months Discover found in favor of Just Answer because of their fine print cancelation policy. I was never properly informed about the cancelation policy and was led to believe that when I canceled it that was the end. Now we have to pay the $40 to Discover for this deceptive policy. I believe that we should be refunded the $40 from the company. Also from the number of complaints with this issue BBB should check into this and probably lower their rating at least to a C and probably an F because this is very deceptive business policy.

      I am rejecting this response because: Just answer has never addressed my request.  They keep having a different person respond to my e-mails and it always just more repeating their policy when someone signs on.  They say there is nothing open in my name or e-mail.  Yet, I have contacted the credit card company and they informed me that on 5/9 they resent the $40 to them.  They are just stonewalling and I find it reprehensible.  They are truly a SCAM organization.

      I am rejecting this response because:  they have not addressed the issue that I have told them about.  First, every response is always with a different person.  They are not putting one person on the dispute.  Therefore, they keep going around in circles.  I have told them that Discover sent them another $40 on the 9th of May.  It should definitely be in their system by now.  I just want them to refund me that money right away.  I'm getting ready to take them to small claims court here in **** since they can't get their act together.

      I am writing about repeated, unauthorized charges to my debit card by JustAnswer. I discovered the monthly charges May 15.The charges of about $32 a month began in November 2022 and have occurred every month since then. I never received any correspondence from JustAnswer indicating I had a membership, and I never received a receipt for any services or transactions. I have no recollection of ever having used the service, if one in fact exists. When I called the number listed on my bank statement associated with the charges to investigate, I was told that my phone number (which I have had since 2009) was not associated with any account. The representative said however that my email was associated with an account, but the representative could not give me any information, other than to say it appeared to have originated in *****. She instructed me to write an email to *********************************** I have not received a reply.At this point, the charges total more than $600.

      I am rejecting this response because: by partially refunding about 60% the charges to my account, ********************** has implicitly accepted the argument that the charges to my account were unauthorized. However, they are refusing to refund the remaining 40%. My stance is that ALL of the charges were unauthorized, regardless of the date of the charge. I never received receipts for the charges, I never used the service aside from an initial consultation in November 2022, and my debit card was used 19 times to collect fees for a monthly membership I did not knowingly register for.

      To sum up:

      1. The company did not make clear that the November consultation was a de facto registration for a permanent membership with a monthly fee far in excess of the fee advertised for a single consultation. This is a common experience among JustAnswer users, as evidenced by the many complaints voiced about the company (including on the BBB website).

      2. The company further concealed the fact of my monthly membership fees by NOT providing a receipt for charges made to my debit card as is standard business practice and making no attempt at communication. My email inbox shows NO communication from JustAnswer from the initial contact in November 2022 until I issued a complaint about the unauthorized charges in May 2024.

      3. A further evidence that I was unaware of my "membership," neither myself nor any member of my family used the JustAnswer service after the initial consultation in November 2022.

      Therefore, I am requesting a complete refund of the remaining unauthorized charges totaling $253.80

      I talked to what I believe *** have be a chat bot on the website and was told that in order to speak to a lawyer I would need to join just answers.com by paying a $5 fee right away and that while I was processing the transaction a lawyer would be consulted for me so I could get the answer to my questions. While waiting for a response after processing what I thought was just a $5 fee, I checked my bank account and saw that there was an additional $46 taken from my bank account so I immediately contacted customer service and found out the $46 was for a subscription service and I immediately requested to cancel the subscription. After canceling I used the customer service chat portal to request a refund I was told by the bot that due to their terms and conditions I would not be given a refund. I have an issue with this because I had not even used the site for a full hour yet, the service that I paid for had not been rendered at this time and I was not told I would need to subscribe to use the site, All I was told was that I would need to pay $5 and join the site in order to receive answers to my question. I do not believe I should be forced to pay $46 for a subscription when I was not agreeing to pay for a subscription, I was agreeing to pay the $5 fee that I was originally told I had to pay in order to speak to the lawyer. I want a full refund of the $46 subscription fee because I had no intention to get a subscription and had I have been told upfront that I would be charged a $46 no refundable subscription fee I would have declined to use the website. This behavior is predatory, dishonest and unethical.

      On 5-14-24, I was an ad for JustAnswer because I needed a question answered about a roommate is***. When on their site, it says "Join for only $5, cancel anytime" I submitted my question and was connected directed to pay the $5. I entered my card information and was connected to an attorney. Her name was *******. I asked my question and was given an answer. I am trying to *** a roommate for breaking the lease. She asked me what state did I live in and I told her. She told me I needed his home address because I had to send him a demand letter. I asked if it could be sent to his place of employment because I don't have his address and was told no, I needed his home address. If he did not respond, I could then file the lawsuit and the sheriff would serve him. Today, May 15, my daughter went to the courthouse where we would file and was told the information given to us by "*******" was not true. We could file today and he could be served at his place of employment. I checked my bank account and was charged $60 for a membership and $5 to join. I did not want a membership, I only wanted to ask the question I asked. I have requested a refund several l times and I've been told by *************************** VP of ************** I am not eligible. After I told them "*******" gave me inaccurate information, they will not respond to my emails. I want my $65 dollars back!

      I am rejecting this response because: There are pending charges against my bank account and I have attached them. As laws vary per state, I was asked what state I live in before being connected to an attorney and should have been connected to an attorney from my state. I was provided inaccurate information. I also did not see anything about a $60 membership when I paid the $5. Most online transactions will ask show you what you are being charge before you submit your card info and give the ok to charge. I was not. Please refund so these charges can drop off my bank account.

      Directed to site from another. At the site I did not check any options or ask any questions and exited as soon as I recognized that this was not a place I had any reason to contact. This was on 3/25/2024. I was directed there from the Virginia DMV as they failed to sent new parking stickers and I was fined $40, although I had had the inspection done 3 weeks before the old stickers expired. I asked nothing of these people and was still charged.
