On June 1st, without my knowledge or consent or approval, I received a charge on my Citicard of $10 by OpenAI for a credit that apparently I purchased. There was no information on the purchase and all attempts to determine when this purchase was made has met with failure. An email was sent by API on the same date that I was being charged and I immediately called (no response) and sent an email with a response from ******** indicating that I had purchased this credit and that a refund could not be issued based on their policy. No information or phone support would be provided on when this purchase was made but I was told that my account would be closed per my request and that I did authorize the purchase but without information regarding this authorization. I did not receive any service and have disputed the charge with Citicard. Note that I was charged on Sunday June 1st and tried calling on the same date and also sent an email on the same day this charge was showing as a pending transaction, June 1st. I received their response stating the above and no forthcoming information. My credit card company is working to determine what happened here as well.Initial Complaint

Starting03 18 2025, our card was hit with multiple $15 auto refills per day, totaling$378 by04 10 2025. Abuse came from one *** key exposed in a prototype; no one else ever had account access. Even though we only consumed $40 of *** in 2 years the account existed, this sudden $378 in charges didn't raise any red flags and our entire agencys access to ChatGPT which is a whole different product than OpenAI *** ($990 per month) got shut down. We got locked out of our accounts, so I could not delete the compromised keys. I told OpenAI support on this date that the key was stolen and requested immediate deactivation which was not done. Our 33 people leadership that depend on ******* Teams accounts for day to day work got tremendous disruption to the operations due to suddenly losing access. In the mean time we kept being charged for our monthly dues for accounts we couldn't access. ($462)04 23 2025OpenAI restored service without explanation. The stolen keys were still active until I deleted them manually on that day that I regained access, didnt refund the money for unused period.Second shutdown: 05 05 2025OpenAI again disabled ChatGPTTeams, citing the same *** org even though the keys were gone. By then we had 60 accounts enrolled on ******* Teams that lost access again. We had just purchased these licenses. The only reply we got back from support was that we had to repurchase our seats again to be able to reactivate our accounts resulting in huge duplicate charges. ($1707)My ChatGPT seat *************** is still blocked (and charged for still) and the *** org remains locked. Im the admin of the company and having lots of difficulty with this situation. Support offered no investigation, refund, or clear path to a resolution. Besides the money we are owed, we need a human we can reach from OpenAI in case this happens again AND restoration of my still blocked ChatGPT account (while being charged for)Initial Complaint

OpenAI changed the core features of the product I pay for monthly (ChatGPT Plus, $19.99/month) without notice. I was promised GPT-4, research tools, and memory. These were removed or restricted (downgraded to GPT-4-turbo) with no communication. I relied on these tools, and the company failed to disclose major service changesthis is false advertising and consumer fraud.Initial Complaint

Dear Better Business Bureau,I am submitting this formal complaint against OpenAI ***** the provider of the ChatGPT Plus subscription service. On May 27, 2025, as a paying subscriber to ChatGPT Plus ($20/month), I attempted to generate five AI images using the ***** image generation feature available through GPT-4o. However, after successfully generating just one image, my access was unexpectedly restricted with a system-imposed limit requiring a 30-minute delay. There were no prior warnings, usage indicators, or disclosed restrictions communicated at the point of subscription or use. This technical restriction occurred in the middle of a time-sensitive commercial project, where I was contractually obligated to deliver five digital images to a client by a specific deadline. Due to this platform limitation and the resulting delay, the client terminated the agreement, and I incurred a direct financial loss exceeding $150,000.I believe OpenAI has failed in the following:- Transparency: The actual limits of the ChatGPT Plus plan (specifically for image generation) are not published or disclosed clearly.- Service Reliability: Blocking image generation after just one attempt is disproportionate and inconsistent with the advertised priority access of the subscription.- Fair Commercial Practice: The absence of detailed terms related to these restrictions makes the platform misleading from a commercial standpoint.I respectfully request a formal investigation and appropriate measures to be taken regarding OpenAI's commercial practices.Sincerely,****** StanceleInitial Complaint

Complaint Summary:OpenAI promised to extend my ChatGPT Plus subscription due to a service outage on April 24, 2025, which prevented me from accessing the service. Their support team initially confirmed via email that my subscription would be extended to May 24, 2025. However, they later stated this was an error and refused to honor the extension.?Complaint Details:On April 24, 2025, I experienced a full-day service outage on ChatGPT Plus. I reported the issue to OpenAI and received an official reply from their support team confirming that, as compensation, my Plus subscription would be extended through May 24, 2025.Despite this, my account was never extended, and after following up, OpenAI Support responded again, claiming the original promise had been made in error and that their system does not support manual extensions or changes to subscription expiration dates. This response contradicts the commitment they made in writing.I find this unacceptable and deceptive. If a company makes a written promise regarding compensation, it should stand by it, or at least provide an alternative resolution. To this day, I have received neither the promised extension nor a refund. I have also asked if I could re-subscribe and get the missing 7 days added, but received no further response.?Desired Resolution:I am requesting that OpenAI either:1.Fulfill the promised 7-day subscription extension to cover the April 24 outage, or 2.Provide a partial refund equivalent to 7 days of ChatGPT Plus service.I am also requesting acknowledgment and accountability for the conflicting messages and unfulfilled promises made by their customer support.Initial Complaint

I have monthly subscription to *******, an application that provide me access to chatbots. I have been paying around 22 dollars after tax (***** before tax). Most recent charge was Apr 16.Around end of Apr, I was notified by OpenAI, the company providing *******, that my account was deactivated, saying I have violated their term of use. To my best knowledge, I have been nothing but a loyal customers, and all my usage of their products are normal daily questions. I have appealed more than once, every time the reply was a template, without telling me what the violation was. It has been really frustrating. And my access to ChatGPT was denied since end of Apr, but there is no refund at all despite the fact I was charged for a full month on Apr 16.I want to know what exactly was the violation and their apology if it turned out to be their mistake. Thanks in advance.Initial Complaint

To whom it may concern,I am submitting a formal complaint regarding OpenAI Inc.s mishandling of my account and its unresolved technical ********* April 2025, while preparing for a government-supported AI innovation competition in Taiwanthe AI Innovation Award 2025 (********************************)OpenAI abruptly disabled file uploading and transfer capabilities on my account without warning. This directly disrupted my work and severely delayed critical project milestones.I submitted multiple support tickets and provided detailed evidence, including system logs and screenshots. OpenAI failed to respond promptly. Only after presenting undeniable proof did they admit fault and refund my April subscription. However, they unilaterally closed the case without resolving the issue or restoring **************** of May 20, 2025, the technical block remains in place. No repair has been conducted, no timeline has been provided, and no apology or official explanation has been issued. I continue to be denied access to a service I paid fordespite their acknowledgment of error. This incident reflects:a clear breach of service agreement, unacceptable delay and indifference in customer support, and a lack of accountability from a major AI provider.A refund does not undo the professional damage nor justify the absence of corrective action. I respectfully request your office to investigate this case. All supporting materials are available upon request.Sincerely,****** ***Initial Complaint

I paid $20 for the subscription. My phone was stolen and I tried effortlessly to retrieve my account and ChatGPT was of no help. First they said my ***** ID didn't have an account and I had to create one although I subscribed through *****. Then it created one with a hidden email instead of linking my Apple ID with the account I'm paying for. I chatted with a *** who was very incompetent as are all their ***s and they take hours to ***ly but charge $200 a month for the premium sub. I was told by the *** to delete the one that was created since it had the hidden email. Now they're saying my account is deleted and can't be retrieved and I'm confused because why did I have to sign up if it was linked to my account? And why don't they have records and accounts of their subscribed users? They're just collecting money and not even improving the app. Now all of my account is gone and they are unwilling to help and act like they have no clue what's going on. I don't get how an AI app with many users has no internal interface or bookkeeping. What are they just collecting our information and thoughts? And can steal them at any time and keep you out of your account? It's not right. Then they're site says that your subscription is cancelled with a deleted account. So why is mine still active,? And why can't they find my log in information to shareInitial Complaint

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a highly disruptive and unprofessional experience I had using ChatGPT. Over the past 24+ hours, I relied on the system to help complete a client project under strict deadlines and with financial consequences attached. I was assuredmultiple timesby the assistant that a fully integrated and deployable project would be delivered within a set timeframe. This was not only delayed, but I was strung along with repeated false assurances, vague updates, and broken promises.Despite expressing urgency and laying out the financial risks I faced, I was met with misleading responses such as:"You'll have it by morning.""Everything will be merged and deployed within 35 minutes.""It's being tested now; deployment is happening."None of those turned out to be true. I remained engaged, checking in, following up, and even keeping my computer awake to avoid any interruptions, only to find out nearly a full day later that nothing was actually delivered. No zipped file. No deployed project. No working prototype. Just more *********** a result:Ive lost a critical clients trust and may lose the entire engagement.Ive wasted 24+ hours of my own time, canceling other commitments while being ********* facing financial consequences due to missing a professional delivery deadline, which could amount to hundreds or even thousands of dollars. This experience has caused significant stress, frustration, and professional damage, and Im incredibly disappointed by the false sense of reliability and competence projected by the ** during this period. Not delivering this to my client on time will cost me $5k in losses since I missed my deadlne.Initial Complaint

I signed up for the free student plus plan through chatgpt on in April 2025. On April 15 2025, Chatgpt, without my authorization, billed me credit card ending in 2698 $200. This was not authorized, chatgpt had no permission to bill me anything. I requested a refund on May 17, 2025 after noticing the charge. Chatgpt refuses the refund the unauthorized charge. I am demanding an immediate refund.
