1 starWhat a shady and unethical way to make money. Billing people for something they dont want by sneaking it in the fine print. Hopefully, the word will get out about this company so they will not be used anymore then they will be forced to stop taking advantage of people. At the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Monthly Membership. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at any time on the website, via email, or with a representative over the phone prior to renewal. Your cancellation was not processed until after your renewal occurred which is why you were billed. We can confirm you cancelled your auto renewal and as a courtesy we have issued you a refund for $29.95. This amount will be shown on your credit card statement within 2-5 business days.

That was kind of hidden. I didnt notice whats written on the contract or where the checkbox was. Its deceptive. Why didnt they ask me if I want to continue after three days rather than leaving that to me to cancel? 1 starPeoplefinders is a company that engages in unlawfull Bait and Switch practices which are actionable under the *** Act. Additionally, Peoplefinder's has engaged in illegal conversion of my funds by taking more money than owed under our agreement. It also engaged in willful and deceptive business billing practices, . I contacted customer service and they refused to refund me for $29 in charges for a $.99 report. I am filing complaints against Peoplefinders with the *** , CFPB, NYS Attorney General's and CA Attorney General's offices. This company needs to be taught a serious ****** about what happens when you rip off your customers and then refuse to discuss the problem without lying, deceptive misrepresententations and overalll bad faith and unfair dealing. My goal is to shut these b******* down. It seems there are many others who feel this way about the company. Anyone interested in a class action suit? Please let me know.Peoplefinders.com

False, misleading and deceptive. What I originally wrote stands. I ordered the $.99 report. When I checked my bank account the next day, Peoplefinder had not only withdrawn an unathorized amount of $24.95, and then enrolled me in a monthly plan.. I consider the taking of funds without authorization to be an act of conversion of my money, for which criminal and civil liability may attach. . I immediately called peoplefinders (the morning after to advise the customer service representative as follows:1. I never enrolled in a monthly account. If the Company enrolled me unilaterally, without my consent, they are engaged in fraud in the inducement.2. I immediately cancelled the wrongfully created account within less than 24 hours, demanding a refund the day after the order was placed Thus the representation that I waited 3 days is blatently false. I have the phone lugs to prove this.Peoplefinders refused to cooperate with me as the customer in this dispute. They lied about the facts and circumstances surrounding this trans******. Their misrepresentations and deceptive billing practices are ******able and I will be filing a complaint with the *** and CFPB. Peoplefinders has violated multiple consumer protection laws, including the Fair Billing Reporting Act, the *** Act, numerous statutory and regulatory provisions pertaining to deceptive business practices -- the list goes on and on. Without an immediate refund, I will be constrained to take legal ****** against the company and their ***** of ********** including founder ******************* (who clearly knows better***) for encouraging illegal practices and to protect future clientele from harm. I reached out to the Company's founder today to discuss this dispute. As of close of business today, there has been no return communication. I would go so far as to say that if their intentional misconduct is part of a pattern and practice, a RICO ****** against the company would be appropriate as well. Peoplefinders is clearly a bad actor and needs to be punished for its noncompliance with consumer protection laws. I will also alert the California and New York State Attorney Generals' offices and request an investigation into these illegal practices and encourage enforcement proceedings. 1 starIt keeps charging my card. I dont even know how this happened at the end of the day I needed to stop already disputed it with my bank and they still keep trying to charge the card. 1 starI paid the 95 cents for the 1 search and cancelled the membership. I screenshot it when it said successfully cancelled. Then they still tried to charge my card $29.95 for the membership which I disputed. Then they try to charge my card again. So I look and they never cancelled my membership even though I clearly have it screenshot where it said it successfully cancelled. So I cancelled it again and tried to delete the account and payment info to which I couldn't. They keep trying to charge my card. I have contacted them and sent the screenshots and they are rude everytime and treat me like I'm stupid. They're clearly scammers. I ended up locking my card and then reporting it stolen to stop the recurring charges that I didn't authorize for an account that I cancelled multiple times with proof I did. The background check wasn't even accurate to begin with. So the information they claim to give you isn't as a full report isn't a full report . It is all a ENORMOUS SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Peoplefinders.com

1 starI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with your service and the misleading information provided on your website. According to your site, you offer a three-day trial. I initiated my trial on July 2, 2024, and canceled it on July 5, 2024, at 3:48 PM, receiving a confirmation of my cancellation. Despite this, I was charged for a membership on July 12, 2024.When I called your customer service, I was informed that my cancellation applied to the month of August, which makes no sense since I canceled within the trial period for July. Furthermore, I was told that your policy considers the trial period to be only two full days, with the trial ending at 12:01 AM on the third day, after which the membership charge is applied. This effectively makes it a two-day trial, not three, which is highly misleading.When I asked where on your website this policy is stated, I was told it is an internal policy and that I could have called for clarification. This is unreasonable since I signed up and canceled the trial online. Expecting customers to call for clarification on a misleadingly advertised trial period is unfair and deceptive.I am less concerned about the money than the presumptuous and negligent attitude toward your customers. 1 starI used Peoplefinder one time after paying 95cents in alril 2024. I also used Been Verified. Been Verified was more accurate and provided more CURRENT info. I tried canceling my subscription but for some reason it didn't happen. I started to be charged $14.95 and $24.95 a month. They CLAIM I signed up for BOTH subscriptions. I DID NOT!! They agreed to refund me ONE $14.95 and ONE $24.95 fee. They REFUSED to refund anything else. So, I am here to warn people to be aware of this scam as I see others reported the SAME SCAM!!
