Peoplefinders.com advertised a phone number lookup report for 95 cents. ($0.95). I received the 95 cent charge then a 5 dollar charge showed up and their website said I would be charged ***** per month after that. I didn't get the report I ordered and I cancelled my account. I want them to refund the 5 dollars and delete my credit card info. I don't care about the 95 cents because I did authorize that.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I did not receive the product I requested. I will explain:
The company offers to retrieve records associated with a telephone number, among other offerings. This Phone Report should contain a name of a person whom it is registered with and maybe other details such as emails or whatnot. The system showed Name: ***** with the ability to purchase the report at 95 cents to reveal the info that was hidden in asterisks. I did not receive any information for my 95 cents. I was asked to enter my credit card for a 95 cent purchase. After I clicked to accept the charge it reported I would be charged 5 dollars plus 24.95.
I entered my complaint against the 5 dollar overcharge and not the defective phone report product for 95 cents. My reasoning is that I took a chance that the product would be unsatisfactory (even though they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee) and I can overlook the fact the product was deficient. However, the 5 dollar overcharge was absolutely not part of the agreement. I was very offended that this business uses sneaky tricks to overcharge customers. They may have some hidden terms of services agreement that I would have to dig deep to look at to find that there is some surcharge but this is not what was advertised. There was no indication that I would be charged more than the 95 cents I was advertised. I am still unsatisfied about that but I have to be reasonable and they refunded the 5 dollars promptly and I cannot maintain a grievance against them for the overcharge. So that is why my response is "satisfactory". Not stellar, but I hope this record is available to any would be customer of theirs to avoid their deceptive practices.

For weeks I have tried to have my information removed but I never get the promised email. I have followed their directions to a "t' but all to no avail. This company is a total scam who are stealing people's private emails and telephone numbers and selling them for a fee. They "promise" to remove your information as long as you send them your email or phone, but once they have it, the email or text of course never comes. Clicking on "don't sell my private information" at the bottom of their site does nothing. It just spins in an endless circle, never connecting to any page.Business Response

In June 2023, I used Peoplefinders.com to find a lost friend. The website doesn't ask for any money until it finds the person you are looking for. Then it tempts you with the names of the individual with his wife and children; they found him, now pay to see the results. The website displays "One Month for $29.95*" Since I only needed their service for one person, I clicked the button, and gave my credit card information.Attached is a Screenshot of that screen. It is designed to deceive! When the page opens up, your eyes are immediately drawn to RECOMMENDED! Most Popular 1 month of unlimited reports $24.86/mo The asterisk explanation is in very small type at the top of the screen, not where you would expect it at the bottom of the page. There is no mention of a subscription in the payment boxes.I looked in detail at my credit card charges in September. I was charged $29.95 in June, July, and August. I did not know that I had subscribed to their service. I immediately called my credit card company to dispute the July and August charges. They were *********** the June charge since I used their service. Credits (temporary) were issued.I called Peoplefinders. I told them to cancel my subscription, and explained that I didn't know I had signed up for one in the first place. They had just charged me for September. I told the person I wanted a refund for September. I also told her that I had disputed July and August, and to let the dispute stand so there would be no further action to be taken. She agreed to this.On Oct. 6, the credit card company reversed both disputes saying the vendor had prevailed in the dispute.I called Peoplefinders. The first person wasn't helpful, so I demanded to talk to his supervisor. ***************************** answered the phone. I explained the situation to her and she told me that I had signed up for a subscription, no refund especially since I had disputed the charges. I received a statement from my bank explaining an overdraft charge of $28 for a $29 charge from "peoplefinders.com". After calling the bank I found out that not only did they take money out my account once, but three times without my knowledge. It is fraud, plain and simple or my information had been leaked. I have never used this service for any reason and would like a refund for the $60 as well as the overdraft fee. I reported this to my bank already and have replaced my debit card.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I know there is no account with my name because I never signed up but somehow, magically you are taking money from my bank. You have to have my bank card info somewhere. I want my money back. The bank already looked into it and someone told them I agreed to be charged 29 a month. I have no clue what this company even is.

I have a membership with PeopleFinders.com, and was looking to cancel. I asked to have my password reset, which worked the first time. When I logged on with my new password, i was not able to continue past the initial screen until I answered WHY I used PeopleFinders. I selected an answer, then was given a prompt saying PeopleFinders was unable to help me with this account, and then booted me off. I tried to log in again with my new password, and it failed. Came across peoplefinders in February, was in process of signing on to try however after looking for email confirming subscription I discovered I hadnt been given any information how to contact them to cancel my subscription, no email with confirmation given I decided to not use their services as they service ofvfinding out if people have been convicted was inaccurate ( as a person know was guilty of DUI had clean record)5 months later ( July) I discovered they had just taken out ***** a month without communicating that o indeed had an account. I contacted my bank but wasnt reimbursed It seems they are still taking money out of my account Its stealing to not let people know how to contact you and just take money from your account in particular in the company promise to be able to find out any prior convictions people may be having.This is fraudulent Not only taking money from my account, not giving opportunity to cancel but also not providing service I signed up for Reimburse 7 months of ***** which is ******Business Response
