On September 12th I was shocked to discover that Beachbody had unilaterally increased their prices for their services without any prior notification. They claim an email was sent with a subject of "Upgrading your membership important changes with 35 days of free access!" A more appropriate subject line would have been "Price Increase: About your new Membership!" That wouldn't have changed the fact that I didn't receive it, but being forthcoming about their plans should have been done. The customer service agent I contacted told me to "scroll down to the bottom of the email and I'll find the part where the increase is mentioned." How is this even ethical? I find this to be a clear violation of the trust and agreement I had with Beachbody. The lack of transparency and the sudden price increase have left me feeling frustrated and betrayed. As a loyal customer, I expected to be informed of any changes in pricing or services well in advance so I could make an informed decision about continuing my subscription or exploring alternative options. This type of business practice is completely self destructive. It's disheartening to see a company that claims to promote health and wellness resort to such shady tactics. The credit card that was billed for $191.53 is a rarely used card and not one that I check often, which is an $86.00 price increase from membership in the past. **************** informed me that I was outside of their 30 day money back guarantee and refused to help me. They just kept repeating that an email was sent about the price increase and offered absolutely no alternative other than to dispute it with my credit card. Such unfair and deceptive business practices. Customers should have had the option to "opt in" or be forced to sign up under the new program so they weren't completely caught off guard with these unauthorized charges. I am rejecting this response because:I have stated countless times that I did not (like so many others) receive any notifications from Beachbody regarding the substantial increase in cost. In the email you sent me in regards to the BBB follow-up you said, "Rest assured that BODi went above and beyond protocol and industry best practices with notification and implementation of the price increase." Going above and beyond is actually contacting your clients via phone if it comes to that. Going above and beyond is disabling auto-renewal unless the customer has acknowledged receipt of the email and opted in to the new company / membership. Going above and beyond is making your subject line clear in the email that's being sent that there's a price increase coming. Your customer service agent indicated that the subject line read, "Upgrading your membership important changes with 35 days of free access!" What in that subject line makes someone think there's going to be a nearly 100% price increase? Not only that, he indicated that if you scrolled all the way to the end of the email, that's where the information about the increase would be. First, I didn't receive said email, but secondly, there's nothing other than this being a shady increase that was hidden within the email in hopes of customers not seeing it. The subject line had nothing to do with the increase at hand & customers were completely caught off guard and given absolutely no choice to opt in. How this entire process is legal is beyond me.

I recently noticed a charge on my credit card statement from this company. I disputed and was told that I agreed to terms of renewal. I never even originally purchased this so I looked into it further and found I was charged a year ago. I never ordered, received or used anything from this company. I found Info and canceled further charges from them. They refuse to refund me for something I never even purchased.Business Response

When you enrolled into Beachbody on Demand, you checked the box to accept the Terms and Conditions. Within those terms you agreed to automatic renewals which required you to cancel the membership to prevent future charges and eliminate access. Like all memberships that auto-renew, you will continue to receive access and be billed regardless of usage until you take the action to cancel.
On July 2, 2023, your annual BODi membership (previously Beachbody On Demand) renewed. Our systems shows that we sent you an email about the BODi upgrade on May 28, 2023, and it was opened/viewed on May 29, 2023.
After conducting a thorough review of your request, account details, and customer service contacts, we understand that you believe the transaction in question was not authorized by you or occurred on an account that you are not the owner of. However, our investigation concluded that this order met our security, order requirements, as a result product services were rendered. If you disagree and or think that your bank card has been compromised, we strongly encourage you to reach out to your financial institution to report this matter immediately. You may also want to review your account activity and report any unauthorized transactions to your financial institution. Generally, they're able to take the appropriate action to protect your account. If your bank determines that the charges on your account are suspicious and within their policy, they generally have processes to help support you.

03/10/2023 Was charged $196.69, The transaction # ********* Renewal of service I did not authorize this charge or a 100% increase in what I had paid the previous year (see attached email screenshot) When I signed up w/ Beach Body I received a confirmation receipt with breakdown of charges, as well as the renewal at THE SAME amount. I would never have authorized double the amount had the company been transparent. The first time I contacted the business they said there was nothing they could do and told me to fill out an online dispute form. (Im assuming they have many disputes)They would not work with me or resolve my issue. Never received a receipt like I did when I signed up via email. Their marketing practices, under new name **** called it a membership upgrade and were not transparent.Lastly they stated I accepted the new terms and conditions of the upgrade which they cannot produce a record of me clicking on or accepting (just a screenshot of what they claim it looks like Ive never used the service at all this year, didnt realized the company changed names (and doubled their price), received a vague email (see screenshot) that went to spam because they used a different email. I have historically used beachbody for workouts and paid a $99 for an annual membership. After reviewing a rarely used credit card, I saw a charge of $179 from BODI - and was confused as I didnt even recognize the company name. I tried to login to bodi figure out what was going on and my email address didnt even work - I clearly had not accessed or benefitted from the subscription and received no notice of the charge. I reached out to BODI customer service and they told me I was a few days outside their money back guarantee number and would not issue any refund. Further, when I asked the customer service agent to cancel my membership as I was having difficulty logging in, they disconnected and ended the chat. These practices are deceptive and predatory, making it intentionally difficult to cancel, raising prices without notice, and issuing charges without notice. I was charged in May 2023 for another yearly subscription on a **** that had expired. I haven't used this program in a few years and feel that being charge over $200 for a subscription without my consent isn't right at all. I purchased an annual subscription for BeachBody on 7/27/22 and canceled the subscription before it was supposed to renew. When I log into my account it does not show any active subscriptions and it even shows as expired and inactive in my Apple subscriptions, but I was still charged the $179 renewal fee. I was also I tried calling BeachBody and was not able to speak to a person. The charge on my account was unauthorized and I want a refund.Business Response

On 8/18/23 I saw an ad that said save 50 percent plus twenty percent on bodi. Billed today at ******. Renewed annually for ******. I was a Beachbody customer for years and cancelled when bodi was offered for ******. ****** is the full price so, 50 percent of ****** is **** and twenty percent of **** is *****. I called Beachbody to buy bodi for this price but was refused. Team leader (I requested manager) gave me several explanations, all of which fell flat. I sent pictures to the email she provided proving my claim that ***** was the correct price per the advertisement. She kept wanting me to believe that I had old information yet the ad is in effect on bodi/Beachbody website. I have the pictures to prove my claim. I have not used this program in quite some time and was not aware of the renewal which was processed on an expired card and should not have gone through. I was not aware the price was increasing $80 and was not aware of the charge until I received a credit report notification that one of my credit cards which hadn't been used in over 6 months had a charge posted to it. I cancelled the subscription online as soon as I received this notification. All access to the programs has been deactivated but I have not received any sort of partial refund for the remainder of the subscription which I do not intend to use.Business Response

I cancelled Beachbody LLC as soon as I discovered the charge on my credit card bill statement. I did not receive any email or notification that the annual fee had gone up $80. I contacted Beachbody and was told I needed to fill out a policy dispute form (Incident: 230802-001236) since my request for cancellation was beyond 30 days. I cancelled my membership as soon as I saw the charge. I am looking to receive a refund. I would like a full refund, per my calculation I cancelled on day 1 after 30 days courtesy and I requested for an exception but a refund was denied. The worst part is that when you call, the first thing they tell you is that you legally committed yourself and that if you didn't receive the email, it was because it went to spam, that I have to check my span and that it's not their problem, that legally they have the reasons,,, I am seeking a full refund.Business Response
