1 starThis company is the height of junk fees and administrative fees that are ruining this country. Even when you pay for the service up front, they still charge you extra mystery charges. If you reach out to Hertz, they clean their hands and say its PlatePass who you have to contact (owned by Verra). Then conveniently for Verra, they have a 5 day SLA and a horrible website to dissuade people from fighting the bogus charges. Suddenly, even if I want only use a $2 toll in my whole trip, I either have to pay $13.99 to PlatePass for a day charge or get hit with an administrative fee of $15. There is no cash option for the toll, so I get screwed either way. Truly a slimy business making money off of a government problem. Shame on Hertz, PlatePass, and Verra Holdings for taking advantage of customers so egregiously.Review fromRick M

1 starIt took over 2 months for them to process an electronic toll incurred during a company rental. I was charged more money as a "Convenience fee" than the actual tool. I no longer work at the company that had me rent the vehicle, so now I'm left a bag holding a Fortune 500 invoice... feels greatVerra Mobility

1 starStart to finish a bad experience. First I called to inquire about local pick up and drop off for a weekend rental, I was told they couldn't do it on a Saturday due to limited staffing. I said I would add friday and asked to be picked up Friday around 1230. On Friday we went to lunch early so I called to let them know I was available early. The guy who answered said there was no note about a pick up (should have been my first clue of how this was going to go) but there was a guy shuttling cars who could pick me up. I had looked at prices etc. And figured it'd be around 60 per day. He asked what size car I wanted I said small is fine. He told me they would put a hold of 560 on my card, seemed high but I'm not experienced with renting cars so I didn't think much of it. The car was a ****** sentra, ok car, not fancy or anything. I asked if I should come in early Monday to be brought back He said yeah that should be fine. When I dropped the car off I saw the hertz sign, got out if the car in front, the woman there (clearly the one I had originally spoke with) rudely said if you are looking for hertz it's around the other side (well excuse me) so I drive to the other side she comes around the corner and takes the keys, charges me 360$ and begins to walk away. I said excuse me am I going to get a ride back. She rudely says it won't be for a couple hours. I said a couple hours, I *** to get back for class!! She says well sorry nobody is here till then. I Said you know if you are going to offer pick up and drop off you should really communicate it better I asked all these questions, she says as a manager I don't offer that. Not wanting to argue with someone who clearly is not a happy person and not going to budge I left. I was outside doing my best to find a ride she's coming in and out with clearly no concern of how I'm making out!!! I finally found an Uber and got to class a half hour late. 1 star****-Mobility / PlatePass is a 3rd party ** who takes your money on your card without any foreknowledge. They readily refund the money b/c they're WRONG, less admin fees, in 5-10 business days. This happens because WE TRUST the initial party (Hertz) but PlatePass **mes back behind to handle the "admin nightmare" of paying tolls. This will be a class action lawsuit and I want it noted I'm claiming my spot in line right now. What a rip off! and we have no re**urse because the state highway system is money-grabbing. except *******, they want your CASH - be careful!Verra Mobility

1 starI never went through a toll with my rental car from Hertz. According to them I went through a ************* toll they then charged me a conveinence fee of 9.99. Talk about highway robbery!!! Hertz and this company are scammers.Review fromMichael H

1 starThe "A+" logo on their website shows that they are actually bragging about how corrupt and bold about it they are. Their entire business model is predicted on intimidation "you will be sent to collections" to pay what is literally highway robbery. Even if you make arrangements to pay the toll they charge you anyway and there's no recourse. This just proves the BBB is an equally impotent organization.Obviously every single person here will point out this company is a scam but due to an cartel in the rental car industry is permitted to thrive.Verra Mobility

1 starAbsolutely shocked that BBB would give this company an A+ rating. SHAME ON THEM.I wrote a very nice email about unauthorized toll charges that I received on my rental from Hertz. I paid all of the tolls myself and setup through the toll website before I even drove the car off the lot. The PlatePass in the car remained COMPLETELY CLOSED for the entire duration of my rental.I have receipts for all the tolls that I paid through the Illinois toll website. I relayed all of this information over to PlatePass and they don't even have the decency to respond.This company is running a scam and I suspect the rental car companies may be in on it... Everyone wants their free slice of the pie. Seeing as how hard it is to recover your money from their scam... I'm sure they just "get away with it" because people get tired of fighting.If you rent a car and it has a PlatePass in it, ask to have it removed. There is absolutely no way you want that thing in your rental car. It will charge you regardless of having the transponder open or closed.To give you an idea of how much of a scam they are running... I paid about $15 in tolls for my entire trip... Those were already paid... and then Hertz charged me $90 and told me to take it up with PlatePass.I've found a large group of people who have gone through this same thing with PlatePass. Hopefully PlatePass is ready, because it isn't a good thing if you have 100's of people going through the same scam.Verra Mobility

1 starGot a speeding violation for my black SUV in the mail stating that I had to pay a $75 fine by the end of the month of March. But their own pictures show a white pickup truck and the tags don't match and I was not even in the city at that time on that date. I called them and pointed this out to them. I was told that they had to go to "review." Almost a month and a half later, still no resolution. I called again on I called again on 5/2 and was told that I now had a fine of $75 that was past due. When I pushed the representative they finally said "oh now I see it is in review status." I asked to speak with a supervisor and told that they could not transfer to a supervisor because of their phone system. So their technology is sending the violations to the wrong people, no contact about the review process and you cannot get an update through the website (another technological flaw, and you cannot talk to a supervisor because of the lack of technology on their part. It all makes me question if this company is purposefully trying to defraud the public under the auspices of making driving safer. I am also reaching out to **********************, and the City of ************** because they deserve to know what Verra Mobility is doing in their names.Review fromRalph C

1 starI have been going back and forth with Plate Pass for two months. I rented a car and used it in upstate ** where there are no tolls. I returned the car to Hertz at ************** and about a month later received a bill that automatically charge my credit card for $167.94. The tolls were conducted with a transponder in ***********. The transponder was never present in my rental car and the tolls were never reading my plate which would have proved that it was not my rental car. Plate Pass has told me they are valid tolls yet I showed them my Vrbo statement, bank statement and credit card statement proving I was never in ***********. I have now contacted my bank but have little faith it will work out in my favor. There is obviously a stolen transponder that was used by a criminal yet they charge me for their usage? No one seems to care so now I am writing the *** of Hertz since I cannot find the *** of Plate Pass. The next step will be the *****Verra Mobility

1 starFor the ***************** they treathe customer horribly and give a run around I've been dealing with somebody hitting my car and had the insurance for 6 months now and no one has came to see the damage . But been told somebody will reach me within ***************************************** an adjuster is not available at all
