The debt this company is attempting to collect is over 7 years old, they think that buying debt resets the clock on the statute of limitations and are not the first to attempt to reset this timer by buying the debt. My credit report now shows 2 new accounts opened in June 19, 2024 with last activity being Aug 5, 2024 which is could only from their side as there has been no activity from me or acknowledgement of debt. They have attempted to contact me but I have never spoken to them. This has now negatively affected my credit score and I want both accounts removed from my bureau as they are past the statute of limitations as well as should no longer be showing on my credit bureau.Business Response

Mac Financial trying to collect 2 debts that they say went delinquent on Dec 4 2017 but gave me the run around when i requested documents regarding last payment yet they are reporting on ******* that the last payment was Dec 1 2019 for one and April 1 2020 for the other which is not true and on ********** they are claiming the date of last activity was Aug 5, 2024. I have not spoken to anyone regarding this until today Oct 30 2024. Delinquency starts after last payment was missed not when the previous agency got the debt or when it was first assigned to an agency or when it was worked. I have not admitted to either of these debts but I can say with certainty that I did not have a ******** **** card in even 2016 so this should not be reporting on my credit file and yet it is and it seems like they are arbitrarily making up dates to keep it open and on there. Their unwillingness to provide written information also suggests they are not entirely above board either. I want these removed from my credit files. * ** ***** ** ********** ******** ******** ************
It is the same complaint but this time I spoke with Mac financial and was told they were from 2017 and that ******* removes after 6 years and yet it is on there with incorrect dates of last payment as there were no payments or anything made by me on those dates

We spoke to the consumer on October 30th. We discussed obtaining the backup for these debts however the consumer hung up on us. It appears as though the consumer does not wish to pay to the debts. In the interest of saving everyone some time we will investigate the delinquency dates and remove the accounts from the credit bureau if they are past 6 years from date of last activity. If they are within 6 years from date of last activity then they will remain on the credit until such time has elapsed.Customer Answer

This has been an ongoing complaint. I contacted the original creditor and these debt were sent to collections in Dec 2017. So the actual delinquency date would be before then. Even Mac financial confirmed this and yet over seven years late they are still putting it on my credit file claiming the last payment was in 2019 which is completely untrue. The last complaint I filed said they would investigate and remove it but they did not. ********** did investigate and removed it however ******* did not. ***** **** ********** *** ******* *********. Even when I spoke to them they told me Dec 4 2017 but would not confirm that it would be removed at that time. It was actually very difficult to get any information from them. I keep getting harrased by mac financial I have no debt of 24000 dollars ,The dcument says employed I amnot employed i get disability payments I have leukemia and it says ******** **** like what i have not been there in 30 years and belie e me imhave no debt with them I dont even drie now,I want to know if this is a **** or they have the wrong person becasue none of this adds up at all If i continue getting bothered by these people i will lay charges for harassment and false docum,ent. Good afternoon,
MAC financial has been continuously reporting to my credit bureaus that I owe 29k+ to them with no proof or mail documents to me. They also keep reopening the date as you see in the attached picture. I would like them to remove this from my credit file as reopening a file multiple times is from what I've read not even legal and is fraud and I fully dispute them.
I would appreciate any help you are willing to provide

Mac Financial collection agency has been harassing my in-laws for months now. They called and asked them if my wife was their daughter, using her nickname, (not her actual name), which tells me they simply got my in-laws details by creeping my wife’s ******** account. My wife and I have never given out our nicknames on our ‘********’ account, nor have either of us ever registered any credit under those names. Neither of us have ever included our parents as a guarantors or contacts. When MAC first called they implied to my mother-in-law that this was an employment opportunity, not a collections agency. This collections agency calls my in-laws several times a day and my in-laws are close to 90 years old and this has become an incredible source of stress for them. They have been reduced to no longer picking up their phone, this is hazardous. You are risking the health of my elderly in-laws, these non-stop phone calls and intimidation MUST STOP immediately. I will also contact the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada if this doesn’t stop today. This includes any calls from any subsidiaries of MAC financial.Business Response

Over the past 10 years or so, I have periodically been receiving collection letters from these people. I have never acknowledged these letters. (Ref#******) There have never been any negative comments on my credit file and my credit rating is in good standing. As I said, I have received these letters on occasion, but this one takes the cake. They claim that they have "verified my employment and income" (funny) and are making threats. I am a 77 year old pensioner and I'm pretty sure Revenue Canada does not give out pension information to collection agencies. I want all communications and threats to stop or I will file a formal complaint against them with the BC Consumer Protection Branch. I want this whole thing removed from their files.Business Response
