They keep contacting my work place, so I sent them a cease and desist email to only contact me by mail.
This alleged debt is over 5 years old.
So they cannot sue me.
Should I send them a registry letter by mail also? Or would my email work as well?Business Response

Keep getting continually harassed by this company for a charge from 9 YEARS AGO. After 7 years it should have been dropped but nope I just received a letter a few days ago threatening that they'll garnish my wages and seize assets. Not to mention the original bill was around $200 and has accumulated somehow to over $800. I will be suing for harassment if they continue.Business Response

I’m called at all times of the day, I don’t answer any phone calls as I have a TBI after brain surgery for a 4cm growth.

MAC Financial Recovery Inc. alleges that they purchased the Debt from ******* **** some times on December 2024
According to my records the only time I delt with ******** **** was on August 2017 for a disputed charge on a Credit Card. The dispute was filed in writing and did not receive any acknowledgement from ******** **** until 2024 when my family retrieved the mail from my mailbox. I was not available at that time as I was recovering at the hospital from open heart surgery.

Mac financial has put into collections for ******** **** credit card that is over seven years old. I have had a new ******** **** card in good standing for the last 7 years.
***** ***** credit report shows that every 2 weeks mac financial adds $150 in interest on that account. I was under the understanding that interest stops on the date of your last payment on that card.
So I would like the amount changed and removed from my credit report. Is it not illegal to continuously add interest while in collections and is seven years past the time limit for it to even be showing up on my credit report ?
Thank you for your support in looking into this matter.Business Response

When a debt is sold the purchaser of the debt is allowed to charge the contractual interest rate. Accounts are listed on the credit report by date of first delinquency, not date of last payment.Customer Answer
Date: 25/06/2025
Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: According to a lawyer I spoke with a collection agency can only collect interest that the original creditor added. You are not allowed to add new interest or fees on top of the original debt which is what you are doing. Also the delinquency date signifies the initial date when a payment was missed and in my case that was over seven years ago not 2024.I would like the information correct and removed from my credit report.
Sincerely,
*** *****Business Response

In July 2024 I received a phone call from this company (**** **) who stated I had a balance owing on a ******** **** account that I had in 2014 and paid off in 2017! I sent an *********** letter stating that this alleged debt was in dispute and to provide documentation to validate said debt and to record that this debt was in dispute and to cease and desist all phone calls to myself and communication until then. I received no documentation from **** but rather endured repeated phone calls three or four times a week as well as voice messages asking me to improve my financial standing and to phone them back, For four months up until October 2024 I left repeated voice messages to **** reiterating my position and my dispute of this alleged debt and to cease and desist this continued harassment as well as threats directed towards my myself. His boss ***** even went so far as to say to myself in July 2024:”just pay your bills, ****” while I was attempting to ask for validation proof and documentation. I even spoke to **** repeating my concerns and requested validation of alleged debt to which he responded: “I don’t know what that means? What is that?” Please tell them to cease this continuing harassment for an account that was paid off in 2017..EIGHT years ago!! Remove my number and attempts to collect on this alleged debt!Business Response

Like many other customers complaining about their business practices. They are trying to collect on an old debt that is over 8+ years old. They reported this account as if it was a new occurrence which has affected my credit report. The date they reported the debt was in 2020 and then updated it to 2024. The amount is also incorrect and they seem to keep adding interests or some sort of charges.Business Response

Over the last several months, I have been receiving calls and voicemails from someone named ‘**’ from MAC financial. He is looking for the contact information for an individual that he believes to be my son; however, I do not have any children. I have told him that he has the incorrect phone number but he has continued to harass me. I blocked his number but he still calls me with a blocked number that appears as “No Caller ID.” I do not have the contact of the person he is seeking, as I have already told him, and that individual is not my son!! I have also received automated voicemails and text messages with confidential information about he debtor that should not be shared with me. This agent is engaging in prohibited practices and conduct under the *****! I would like my phone number removed from their database immediately! I am not sure why I am still be contacted?Business Response

I have an outstanding debt of 11,854 with a credit card company that I haven't be able to pay and recently, Feb 5 2025 I received a letter that states that if I don't pay MAC Financial Recovery the outstanding debt within 7 days of the letter, legal action may be initiated and then go on to say "In the event we obtain a judgment against you in a court of law, MAC FINANCIAL RECOVERY INC. will have the ability to garnish wages and/or place liens on any assets you may possess." which is threatening and intimidating language and using undue pressure, all of which isn't allowed by the federal government.
They call me 3-4 times a day the number says it’s from PEI and or calls private name, they text me and email me, they have insisted that I pay $1000 a month,
They tell me I have till June 14/2025 to come up with a payment plan ?????,
This account has been open since September 9/2020 and they just put it on my credit report March 14/2025
I did ask for proof of this amount and they sent me a screen shot of what they had I have submitted it to you as proofBusiness Response
