    Pathetic, uncaring and utterly devoid of empathy. Like every other comment here has mentioned, Trupanion hides behind the excuse of something being a "pre-existing condition" in order to avoid providing any help. When the chips are down, these leeches refuse to help. I cannot recommend them to any pet owner with a genuine love for their fur baby.

    Trupanion is a disgrace. I submitted a claim, and they denied it hiding behind the same lazy excuse: pre-existing condition. So I filed a dispute and submitted a letter from my vet, who clearly and professionally stated the condition was NOT pre-existing. Did that matter? Of course not. They denied it again.Lets call it what it is: a scam disguised as insurance. They take your money every month and vanish the moment you actually need help. They didnt review my documents, they didnt listen, and they sure as h*** didnt care. Just canned responses, stall tactics, and a blatant refusal to do the right thing.This company preys on pet owners during their most vulnerable moments. I trusted them to protect my pet and instead, I got denied and ignored. Absolutely shameful.

    If 0 stars were an option, I would choose that. Purchased this policy mainly because their website claims they cover congenital and hereditary conditions. My frenchie had stenotic nares, we had surgery to correct it at 6 months, because vets require you to wait until they are 6-12 months to correct it, but because my vet documented it at his well puppy exam, trupanion would not cover it. Stated it was pre-existing Biggest scam ever!! Be wary of this insurance company!

    I brought a new puppy to my vet, and was asked if I had pet insurance, to which i replied no. I then got a text and email from ************ offering me coverage within 24 hours of the appointment. Shortly after that, I started getting my inbox bombed with dozens of spam emails. I haven't had this problem in a long time and this company is the only new contact I've had. Aparrently they have set up an arrangement with the vets to push their service. to think that my info would get sold to a sketchy marketing platform is completely unprofessional and the tactics to attract customers just proves exactly how shady a business I perceive Truscampanion is.

    Summary: misleading and scare tactics When I first got trupannion, I was misled about how the deductible worked (misleading may have come from the vet that was offering it and not necessarily trupannion). I thought it was a deductible that has to be met over the year like most human insurance policies i have had, but it is a deductible by ailment. At first it seemed like every deductible was not met and I was still paying everything out of pocket and never meeting the deductible. My dog ended up having some stomach issues and for a good couple years, a lot of it was being partially covered as the deductible for that ailment was met. Over time and after switching vets because I moved, a lot of what they previously were covering for the special dietary food and pills stopped being covered even though we had a prescription from the doctor and were ordering directly through chewy and visbiome. Then I signed up my other dog for coverage (less than a year old) and was okay with the monthly price, but then within a few months the monthly cost on both dogs went up. Based on the increase in price, it became more affordable to not have insurance then to have insurance. The thing that irritated me to write this was when I went to cancel the policies on my dogs. They make you call them in order to cancel which is inconvenient in today's time, but they started giving me a sales pitch (scare tactic) about my older dog getting possible masses and the cost of the that. I know for my dog's breed he probably has a few years left, but ti start talking about if he got masses was upsetting. Then the person I talked about how I could decrease my monthly cost, but purposefully omitting the part that the deductible sky rockets.

    We have had our policy since we got our pup at 7 weeks old. Policy started out at 122 a month. Pretty pricey, and each year the cost has gone up even when we haven't had any claims. The first few years the price increase was not terrible, but last year they increase the policy to 300 a month an increase of 60 per month. I almost cancelled then but unfortunately did not. This year they are raising the price to 400 a month. We have had zero claims in the last 2 years. This company is price gouging. We have paid them well over ***** dollars in premiums and gotten minimal amounts back for claims. Do not waste your money. Put 50 dollars away every month into an account and you will have enough to pay your vet bills and it will be way cheaper than this scam of a company.

    The agent just compared my cat to a car. Saying that if you get car insurance when your car is in the shop it will not cover it. Same goes for your cat, she is in the hospital and you are getting insurance now so it will not be covered. Nor will anything associated with the visit. Thanks *******, you are a true gem.

    First 2 years with Trupanion were great. Recently got our new monthly price almost a 40% increase! Called to cancel just now. Rate is based on where I live makes 0 sense. Just moved to a nicer area and they think that justified the increase. Crazy company if they think thats acceptable. Going with a different provider. Squeezing your customers will lose your business just FYI.
