BEWARE!!!!! DO NOT every sign up with Avalara. The company is unable to conduct business and this is a SCAM business. I have been lied to repeatedly, frustrated beyond belief for months now. I signed on w/avalara to research and provide licensing for my new business. They took my money and then some, and are still trying to charge my credit card. IT IS A SCAM. I was cancelled out of nowhere via email because my account manger was unable to tell me what was completed on my behalf and then I was hung up on. I received an email later stating my account was closed w/out my consent or my request to do so and I now I am being charged for recurring fees of $450.00 per month, which I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR. Please do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS SHAM OF A BUSINESSAvalara Inc

Wow, more misleading and erronieous information by Avalara. I warn anyone who would like to conduct business with them to read their reviews, most of which are terrible. I sure wish that I had taken the time to do so. Avalara's response is outrageous. The only aggressive behavior was by Avalara, as I was hung up on repeatedly because Avalara could not and would not tell me where I was in the process of my filings (remember for $450.00 and then asked for another $95.00 in which I have not been reimbursed and was in fact charged-I had to contact my credit card company to resolve-more of my time wasted). I normally would not take the time to contact the BBB but I have wasted so much of my time calling, emailing and when Avalara tried to charge my credit card a recurring $450.00 a month, I felt I needed to warn others.Review fromAj D

Horrible customer service, do not do business with them. I asked for a refund, called numerous times and emailed and still have not heard back, even though they said they started a case. Their website is misleading and charge you and they do not do any work. I ended up having to do what I was charged for and this why I expect a refund.Avalara Inc

Waste of your time and money. They do nothing but send you bills and do not file your tax reports. Total Joke. They do nothing but report what I report to them. So why bother? I just report my sales and tax to the city. Why do I need to use Avalara? They charged me about $300 to join and then charged me about $30 a month for over a year and never once reported anything to anyone. Every report they send me is full of 00. when I ask them why they say I need to tell them the numbers so they can report it! What a joke. Just do it yourself and dont pay them as they want you to do all the work and then charge you. I call and ask for a manger 3 times. Nothing. I am going to challenge their fees with my credit card company. Do not believe what they tell you during the sales talk. They say they will take care of everything. No they do nothing but send you a bill and report zero income and tax.Avalara Inc

An Avalara representative contacted me today. More waste of time. Everything is my fault and they are prefect and I must accpept pay that they keep all the money paid to them for doing nothing. They do Zero except to send bills. I am forced to contest their fees and charges with my credit card company as they misrepresented their service to me when the sales department talked me into using their service which is nothing but a bill in the mail. Fraud is what I have faced and they refuse to even provide one cent in compensation for an agreed resolution. I offered to settle with them if they would adjust my billing. NO! was the answer. OK, then I must proceed to challenge every bill and statement Avalara sent for doing nothing and misrepresenting their services.Review fromTony C

Terrible company to deal with. **************** is non existent. Communication is always late and incomplete. People assigned to your account fail to reply to email in a timely fashion, if at all. Emails forwarded to sales or management are ignored entirely. I wish I had read these reviews prior to signing up which would have saved me great aggravation. If you read the reviews here and still hire them you are making a mistake.Avalara Inc

A few months ago I opened up a business through Legal Zoom, and received an email from Avalara to help with Tax License registration shortly after. I made a HUGE mistake paying them $400 dollars to help file my tax registrations for me. They are VERY hard to get a hold of, they do NOT have a technical support number you can call, and only communicate through email. I've been playing email tag with them to resolve a few questions that could have been resolved in 5 minutes with a phone call. DO NOT USE THEM. They are a scam, and you can do file the forms yourself for free.Avalara Inc

At one time, Avalara's customer service was outstanding; BUT!!!! since a recent merger, their customer service has deteriorated to the point of outright neglect of the customer.---I recently canceled my service as I no longer am providing short-term rentals. I was sent an automatic email reply stating that I would soon be contacted which did not happen. Since my subscription was removed, I imagined everything had been taken care of---until the county tax collector notified me I was delinquent for two months for failing to file. As Avalara had not canceled the licenses they held by title, I was not able to file, nor even cancel the Avalara opened licenses. I contacted Avalara multiple times and received the same automatic reply email that someone would soon contact me---but no one ever did. Today I did receive a relayed message that the licenses will be canceled by the end of the month---WHY COULDN"T THEY HAVE JUST DONE THAT BEFORE MY FUSE WAS SET ALBLAZE---a simple email would have done itAvalara Inc

I signed up to register for several jurisdictions. The system has a glitch and I processed a second request. Next thing you know I have two invoices for the same service. I sent a request to cancel the second invoice. No response. I then get a notice that the invoices will be automatically withdrawn from my bank - but no service was provided. I emailed again, no response. I have sent over 15 emails to the account manager, support and other agents. We are now 3 months into this request and all I get is something else I need to do to get money back from services they never provided and not to mention... they took money out my account without performing the invoiced services. I have starting the process of reporting their fraud.Avalara Inc

It is unfortunate that it took this long to resolve BUT Avalara did resolve the issue. I was especially appreciative of the attention the Customer Excellence team provided, I noticed that shortly after our call they implemented suggestions that were provided. Avalara came through, and I give them credit for that. Thank you!
