Poor business practices automatically renewing your subscription without any notice. Very disappointed as I encouraged people to join. Never again.

If you are thinking of trying out this website-- don't.-Controversial business practices and legal issues-Membership renewal and cancellation:It is standard practice for Classmates.com to auto-renew memberships at the end of each billing period. In December 2006, when PCWorld field tested several companies to determine how easy or difficult it was to cancel their service, Classmates.com was one of the companies that received their worst rating.Fraudulent e-mails and settlement:Classmates.com had sent a significant number of emails that told recipients their old friends from school wished to reconnect (and the recipients would need to buy Classmates.com memberships to receive their old friends' contact information). A class action lawsuit was brought against Classmates.com in 2008. The lead plaintiffs in the case were *************************** and *******************************. Classmates.com agreed to pay $2.5 million to its users to settle the lawsuit.Piggybacking and post-transaction marketing:Classmates.com was accused of piggybacking and post-transaction marketing. Parent company United Online earned $70 million from marketing practices under investigation in 2009 by the ************************* involving piggybacking a second credit card transaction with membership to Classmates.com involving a loyalty program.Settlement on hidden online shopping fees On August 18, 2010, ******** Attorney General *********************** announced a settlement with six companies, including Classmates, as part of a probe into the discount club industry. Classmates was among the retailers that agreed to pay $2.1 million toward refunds and consumer education. Under the alleged practice investigated, consumers who completed online purchases were presented with discounts or cash-back offers, and accepting these offers triggered small, easy-to-overlook recurring charges billed to unfamiliar company names. Classmates' share of the settlement amounts to $960,000 and a commitment to end these practices.

Classmates.com just ripped me off. I did not want the 3 month trial I paid for, did not want it to renew but classmates.com charged my bank account $18 today and when I called them and ask them politely to refund me they refused claiming it is written on the second page of joining there is No Refunds.. I told him that must have been written in small print. Anyway I told him I will let the public know that they roll like that.. so that is why I am writing this review because I feel they are wrong to treat me like that.. you cannot refund a measly $18 for real? !! DG I rate u the lowest rate.

Total Scam in my opinion. If you sign up for this scam, please take all your banking information off because if not they will still take out money. I do not sign up for automatic billing because of the issues I know can be created by doing this. I thought I took care of everything before leaving, but apparently not and have been taking out money every 3 months of the amount of $18. I noticed this charge on my bank account this month and called my bank they said that they had actually been taking out money in Feb, May, Aug, Nov which I didn't know of the last 3 charges until I called my bank. Even after you drop your membership, you had better make sure your banking information is completely taken out even when you think you dropped your membership. I even opted out of the automatic billing in the beginning and I still was placed in the automatic billing. In my opinion, save yourself from a headache and the process I am now having to do now.

My wife signed up for one year and did not intend to renew but somehow it got renewed. The renewal date was 5 Nov 2022 which was a Saturday so we couldn't contact them. We contacted them today (7 Nov- 2 days after renewal!) and they refused to refund the money. This was the first business day after renewal date! Sleazy operators! Stay away from Classmates.com!!!!!!!

Classmates.com is nothing but a scam and a fraud. I took the introductory offer for one month at $3,50 and thought it would end after that month but I was charged $7.57 for the next month. It seems there is a recurring payment that one has to turn off. Instead of this "opt out" choice, there should be an "opt in" choice. However, the website would not be able to scam people out of money if this "opt in" method was used. I contacted the company but they would not return my payment. This company is not a credit to *******.
