      This company is downright dirty and their service is horrible. I tried cancelling my service almost a year ago and they WILL NOT cancel it. Instead they continue to ask if you cancel it how will you or your property be protected .now they are telling me I have a remaining balance and sent a list of actions they will take.this is ridiculous because I DID NOT have a balance when I initially asked them to cancel it neither did they ever mention a balance. Now, due to them not canceling I have a balance. ***

      I responded to a telemarketer call by Alder selling wired outdoor security cameras. The offer was for "no upfront cost" and a monthly charge of just under $100 for installation of an eight camera system. I explained that I wanted a system but would not do anything with recurrent monthly fees. They agreed to "sell" me the system for $899 but I also had to pay for one month service only. I agreed.Several weeks later, an installation technician arrived to install the system. I refused to allow him access to do the install until I read the agreement. It was indeed for one month, but did also state it would continue month-to-month until cancelled. I called Alder and explained I was refusing the install. Alder assured me that I could allow the install and opt out of the recurrent service by annotating such on the agreement. They were to note my account on their end as well. All were agreed that there would be no need to send in a cancellation notice and that there would be no recurrent charges.I have been billed for 11 months. I have done all the ask and am still receiving collection calls. I emailed a cancellation notice as requested with email receipt of it from them and still get collection calls. They retrieved the electronic copy of my contract and acknowledge I annotated NO RECURRENT FEES as instructed but want me to continue to pay. I can furnish email verification of everything I have stated on request. Do Not Do Business With ************************* is my experience with them that leads me to believe and hold the Opinion that they are deceitful and will do anything to record any word of affirmation so that they can stick you with a contract you do not want.

      I live in *******, *****. My system stopped working on December 21, 2024 and as of today, January 5, 2025, I'm still waiting for a technician to come to my home. When I spoke with their scheduling department, they informed me that there is only one technician working in my area and as soon as he is available, I will be contacted. In the meantime, I'm without an alarm. So please do not choose this company for your alarm system. Do not use this company, horrible service. I've called practically every day and I get the same answer.

      My mother (elderly)has been with this company over 14yrs and after I heard on the phone upset of course I stepped in as her oldest remaining son. Come to find out Alder told her for her to cancel she'll have to pay 1k. I got on the phone and asked to speak to manager and manager finally picks up after 45min wait saying ******* she'll have to pay. STAY AWAY from this company cause they do shady stuff and I noticed they had deceptive sales tactics as reviews and lawsuit. Definitely beware

      Would give zero stars if I could. When cancelling service you are told to call a number, fine. Call the number and then get told I need to fill out a form and submit via email. Get the form, return and receive acknowledgment and am told I have to call an account representative. Call the account representative and then get told I need to fill out and return another form. Fill out the form, receive acknowledgment and am told I have to call their cancellation department. Called their department and was on hold for over an hour despite being told my wait time was 5 minutes or less, and never got picked up. Called back and opted in to get a call , never received a call back. Called back and opted in for text messaging, never got a response. Called back and am now on hold again for over an hour. I just want to cancel service but it seems like this is a deliberate attempt to just get you so frustrated that you quit trying.

      My system has been off line since June 6, ************************************************************************* know the system is offline. If they were supposed to be monitoring my house is what I am paying for, why wouldn't they call me to let me know the system was offline and or not working and send the police out. On August 16, 2024 when they called I informed them of this they had no answered all they wanted is to collect the money. I would tell anyone they talk nice to you until the contract is signed and very nasty when you tell them you don't want their business. Please let other people know about this company THEY ARE A SCAM!!!

      I will be forwarding this on to a lawyer following this review. I presumed I had canceled with Alder in 2023 when receiving my last bill by mail (receiving bills by mail over the entirety of the services. I had asked the gentlemen who I made my "last payment" with to cancel services. I called and made my "last payment" using my card over the phone. No calls nor bill sent to my home. A year later I received a RANDOM CALL saying I owed over $800. I thought it was a scammer who had gotten ahold of my account just trying to tell me I have outstanding credit (Knowing I had already canceled and received the terms of cancelation through the mail). Notice they apparently JUST SENT ME THE ***** OF CANCELATION LETTER AND INDEED DID NOT CANCEL MY SERVICE. Not even sending me a bill for over a year!!! I called and spoke with several representatives who stated I had been billed this entire time and the card that I used to make my "last payment" was the card they had been attempting to bill. So apparently the bill was "racking up" without my knowledge and NOT using their services. I took in possibilities of switching back to Alder to avoid the $800 I felt they were trying to scam me out of (meet in the middle due when I had their services it WAS great customer service. Notice I had not been using their services for over a year and half due to switching security companies and being informed in a way that my services with Alder had been canceled. I called back a week later and they told me my outstanding balance was not over $1,000. I want my account officially cancelled so it can NO LONGER continue going up (I do not have an extra $1000 sitting around due to being a mother of 4 kids and barely making ends meet, nor do I feel I can afford to extend services), and my last bill sent to me. The employees are telling me they cannot cancel my account until I pay the $1000 and it will just continue going up. This is and can be proven unethical in a court of law.

      I had my services disconnected in January of 2024. I sold the house and haven't lived there since December of 2023 they continue to charge me they say they never discontinued my service. And then assure me I won't be charged again. They have charged me almost ****** $ since the 2nd call 4 months ago ***** $ a month for 4 months. ******. Find another security system company. I was with them for years to be charged 10 months later. It's not acceptable !

      Their customer service is not very good. Ive called phone numbers that were on their website or given to me by one of their **** and the number is either disconnected or directs me me to another company.

      The biggest rip off of any home security companies! When they installed their equipment in 2010, they promised a sign to put in front of my house. It never showed up. For about six years we haven't been able to contact them, and we cancelled our house phone and they couldn't contact us. I tried to call them in 2024, when they raised my bill and called Vivint and for the same price they would install all new equipment. The Alder equipment was out dated anyway. When I called Alder to cancel my agreement they said I was too late, it would cost me over $600 to cancel because by contract you had to cancel on or before the month of original installation or you would charged for a whole year. They lie, and they try to rob people, why would anyone want a security company like that. I have talked to four different people at Alder and keep getting the same run around. I finally told them to keep wasting their paper by sending me bills for service not rendered; because they have received their last ***** from me.
