I was door solicited in July of 2022 by Hawx pest control Appleton. I signed a 12 month agreement for pest control of my home and yard. They were supposed to come once a month for 12 months untill 7-2023 then I was supposed to call and cancel after my year or it would keep going. (But they failed to tell you that part). So they came every month for the first few months then it was winter and not much to spray in Wisconsin. So I let it go with no service untill about April I called and they came and sprayed my basement and garage. Then in may they showed up and it was raining he said he would be back never came. So I called again around June 25-26 approximately and told them I didn’t receive any service for may or June I want out of my contract and refunded. They said they don’t normally refund money. They would give me a refund for my and they still had a couple more days in June to get someone out for service. So I said ok .so they showed up and did their thing. Then July came they charged me again and no service but I was alright with it if they just leave me alone from now on. But then august came and I was billed again. So I called again on August 12. I ask why I got charged again they told me I never canceled. So I told them I wanted to cancel my contract and don’t bill me anymore or contact me. But I want to be refunded for July and August $80. They said they could give me a refund for one month and service for another. I said no July is gone and I’m not a customer anymore in august I just want my money back and for you to leave me alone because I don’t get the service anyway. She said she couldn’t give me a refund I needs to go up top and they will respond by email in 24 hours. I said ok and no response on my refund but I got a letter of cancellation. So I called them again on August 14 they put in my file canceled no refund.so I said to them can you at least give me some service for august and they said no you are no longer a customerBusiness Response

In May a sales rep came to my home and sold me on the contract of pest control stating once a month services would be provided and then I would be charged after the fact. The first services were completed without any issues. After a month had passed, the company had yet to send anyone to complete services, I was charged around the 15th of the month without services being completed or even scheduled. I called the customer service line, which is actually their sales line and you have to be transferred to the customer service line, to file a complaint and was put on hold for over three hours. I put my name in a queue that stated I would be called back in the order the call was received and after another hour I had not received a call back. I called in again and the sales rep that answered stated that I would not get a call back until the queue was empty. I sat on hold again for another hour until I was frustrated and called back again. The sales rep that answered that call put in a complaint that went to a manager on my behalf and provided me an email address to also communicate my issues to. On June 24th, I received a phone call at 9:37 am from a manager to discuss my complaint. He stated that he would apply a credit to my account and schedule services to be completed. He also stated that he would include mosquito traps free of charge. When the service rep came, he did not provide the mosquito traps, stating there was nothing noted on my account, but scheduled another day to set them up, which was done. However, I am still being charged without services being rendered. This is the second month of charges without any services and no response to any complaints I have submitted to the company. This company is collecting money from me without providing services and will not let me out of the contract despite their breech of the contract promises.Business Response

First of all, this was a door to door sale, I, ***************************, house owners (*********************) fianc, was home alone getting my daughter ready for dance pictures. I told the guy I wasnt in charge of these decisions and we already had a mosquito company spraying our yard. The guy was very persistent bc he obviously was making commission. I told him to call my fianc, he talked him into switching service provider to hawx quoting him a cheaper price. The salesman even called our current company to cancel knowing they would try to retain us. The service has been awful. They dont come on a monthly basis, which they are suppose to, weve had services scheduled and they dont show up. Weve called about this, they have excuses. We have mosquitos like we dont ********** as well as fleas, our dogs get fleas now and have rashes on their bellies. Which has never happened before. Oh now they tell us that thats an additional 50$ to spray for fleas. This was included with our previous company. We called to cancel bc they still havent come to spray for aug. They tell us that there is a cancellation fee of 200$! If you are confident in your services, you would not charge a fee to cancel first of all. So he tells my fianc theyd come out to spray and it wouldnt be a charge. They charged us for it and still havent come out for the original monthly spray for august. This company is not meeting their part of their contract. Basically a breech of contract. Very unhappy.Business Response

I have recently signed a contract with this business as of 2 months ago. They came out the next day or so after I signed the contract to spray for bugs and get down cobwebs Etc. They told me that I can call them anytime that I would need them to come out between the times that they are scheduled to come out. They said they come out every 3 months. So I've been trying to schedule an appointment these past 2 days and I can never get through to their phone number because they have me on hold for 20-30 minutes and they never pick up the phone. So then I have them send me a link so I can schedule an appointment online but then it won't let me make a appointment because there is no place to do it at. I have emailed them also they have not replied to my email. For some reason they are closed on the weekend here so I cannot get in touch with nobody and I feel like that this contract is not worth me dealing with because of not being able to get in touch with anybody. I would like to have my contract cancel without any cancellation fee because of this problem. I've been charged two different months so far for their service and yet I can't get in touch with them to come out. In August 2022, I signed a contract for 1 year of pest control services. I called them in July 2023, after the final payment was made, to let them know that, although the service was excellent, I was canceling because of financial reasons. I was told that it was not a problem and they would add a $50 credit to my account in case I ever wanted to start up again.
On August 8, I received a charge for $38.99. Knowing that I had already canceled, I figured it was just a clerical mistake on their end, and called to get my money returned. After being told that my account was never canceled they transfered me to the person I had originally spoke to, in July, about canceling. She said that I had never called back at a later date, to confirm I wanted to cancel and that she had planned on calling me but she had been out of the office. I was never told that multiple phone calls were required to officially cancel; or that she was going on vacation, and I would need to call back to remind her that I was canceling and should not be charged anymore. I was told that I should not be upset because it wasn't a lot of money, and the best they could do was give me a credit for future services, which is not an acceptable solution.Business Response

Hawx ignored my No Solicitation sign on my front door and offered me a discount mosquito spray and pest control services. I agreed to sign the contract only if they agreed that if I see any bugs between visits I can call and they'll come right out, pretty standard stuff. However, **** immediately violated this arrangement. They never returned, and do not answer their phones, emails, or chat, EVER. They also do not return calls. As a result, my children and I were attacked by fire ants and wasps and sustained injuries. I had no choice but to hire a better local exterminator that came right out and resolved the issue. I notified Hawx of the matter, but they never rectified anything and have repeatedly kept charging me $69 a month while doing NOTHING to earn it, after I already told them I am cancelling. I have disputed all charges past the initial visit with ***************** and will continue to do so. I refuse to pay any cancellation fees or any monthly fees for services not rendered, as Hawx violated the contract by refusing to do their job.Business Response

BEWARE!!! In June a representative from **** arrived at my door. He was riding a hover board around our neighborhood to sell the services. He told me he was giving me a deal no one else in the neighborhood was getting (and asked that I not tell anyone because it was so low, but I later discovered from my neighbors this was a false sales tactic he used with everyone) - $50 a month for full yard treatment , home treatment and a one time complimentary yard mosquito treatment. He scheduled the first treatment for that afternoon. The service tech arrived an hour early with no notification, which caused me to scramble because I have dogs. After the treatment, he proudly showed me all of the photos he took during the brief treatment of the house. My yard was never treated nor did I receive the promised mosquito treatment. Repeated attempts to contact them have been futile. Upon logging into my account online, none of the documents for my account were uploaded and are still absent after 3 months. I have attempted to contact them via phone multiple times (20+) and receive the same message that they are experiencing high call volumes. At one point, I was on hold for 48 minutes. Three of those times, I chose the call back options and entered my number to be called back only for them to return my call straight to voicemail (never rang any of the times and I was in different areas each time so was not a technical issue on my end). I am so disappointed. Email attempts have been futile. The only answer I received is a form email to contact the main number or pay a $200 fee to cancel. On top of everything, I had bug issues after the treatment and have obviously not been able to reach them. To me, this is a complete scam and I want my money back and contract cancelled without penalty. Any company that does not have prompt customer contact is a red flag.Business Response

This is now the third time trying to reach hawx to request an additional service. I only got one service in the last 3 months. I've been on hold my last contact attempt for 1 hour and 40 minutes. A solicitor named Camden H. rang the doorbell on 8/10/2023, trying to sell Hawx Pest Control services. He informed me that both next door neighbors were having services done the following week (which I don’t believe) and that I should also have pest treatments done at the same time. I was on a phone call that day and after telling him I was on a call, he proceeded to talk over me. I even explained to him I would need to get approval from the homeowner first. He was extremely pushy and rude. He had no business cards or flyers to offer me about company services, but offered to email me with that info if I gave him my email address, which I did. He told me about the costs of the services, but I was never told he would draw up a contract later that day and assign me a customer account number. I told him I could not agree to anything today, either verbally or written. I needed more information. A few hours later I received an email from Camden H. which I did not open initially. I opened the email the following day and to my shock, it was a fully drawn up contract for pest services for a year. Again, I never signed, or agreed to accept pest services from Hawx Pest Control. Please help me in getting this fraudulent account closed, which was written up for me with a blank place for me to sign, which I did NOT do. In the contract there is a notice for cancellation within three business days of the draw up contract that requires a signature. There is no way I’m signing my signature to cancel a contract I wasn’t informed about in the first place! I expect this contract and account to be closed out before 8/15/2023 with confirmation from Hawx Pest Control. I believe this company is a total scam. I sent an email to Camden H. and to info.hawxservice.com requesting they close this fraudulent account immediately, which I never asked for.Business Response

This business is a scam! I was told that I was able to cancel at anytime to later find out that its a 199 cancellation fee. They bait customers in and then rip them off this should be illegal as to their representatives not giving customers accurate informationBusiness Response
