Moxie came to my house as well as our neighbors house. We both thought to give it a try. What a huge mistake. First of all they serviced our home and literally nothing changed. We still saw the same bugs as always. My neighbor experienced the same awful problem. Our neighbor called and cancelled. We decided to give them a try to rectify the problem. We used their website as requested to get them out here. No responses to multiple attempts, text messages and phone calls. So I called to cancel the service. In return they charged us an enormous cancellation fee without even attempting to rectify or acknowledge their missteps. Furthermore they misrepresented their ability to perform the services they said they could perform. They took money for services that they didn't perform and for not upholding their end of the agreement. They took money from my account without performing the services they promised, for ignoring our multiple attempts to allow them to rectify their errors. We are requesting we get the cancellation charges refunded due to their lack of communication and for not upholding their end of the agreement. Attached are the seven (7) Bee nests we found after day 1 of the service they failed to provide on the first visit. They also failed to spray our tool shed which is within 30 feet of the house per their contract. All of which their rude customer service failed to -acknowledge or rectify.Business Response

I was having issues with pests in my home, mainly being flies. A sales *** from Moxie Pest Control came by mid June and told me about their services, being quarterly treatment as well as insurance so I could call them between treatments in case any pests showed up then. I signed up with Moxie with the sales *** through the iPad he was carrying, and he scanned through the paperwork I had to sign, and definitely didn't mention the cancelation fee. Anyways, we had the initial service for $63 on their first visit, which I wasn't completely satisfied with since there was still some critters, but it handled most of the fly issue, so I was happy enough. I didn't have any issues on the first visit. The quarterly treatment came around where we paid $140, and this is where the problems began. They came and treated the house, but maybe not even a week later we began to have a gnatt issue. I was definitely not happy with this since I had just paid $140, yet I'm dealing with gnatts a week later. I called Moxie to take advantage of the insurance service so they could eliminate the gnatts. My wife stayed home and watched as they came in, and treated a single sink for gnatts before immediately leaving. Of course the gnatt issue persisted. At this point I just wasn't happy with the treatments that they have been providing since they haven't seemed to work that well. I decided to call and cancel my subscription so I could try out a different company. This is when they let me know that in order for me to cancel, I must pay a $335 cancelation fee, or pay them hundreds of dollars for 3 more quarterly treatments before canceling for free. This just doesn't seem fair to me as I have to either pay a fee I can't afford, or be forced to use them for 3 more quarterly treatments where I will have to likely deal with more unsatisfactory treatments, and more bugs. I just want to cancel, and not pay the absurd amount of money they are trying to receive as a "fee."Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Yes, I told you guys to continue service because if I didn't say that, you were going to charge me over $300 dollars as you can see from the screenshot of your email. I just continued service so that I can process this claim through the BBB in order to buy some time to get it sorted out. As the property owner I didnt consent to the contract for pest control services on my property. Another family member did so under the pretense that services could be cancelled anytime. The sales person never disclosed the fact that there is a penalty if cancellation is before the 12 months are up. Moxie refuses to cancel services without charging $580. I havent given permission for services. The sales person willfully withheld information regarding the penalty for cancelling early. This is wrong and others need to know about the business practices of this company.Business Response

Subject: Formal Complaint Against Moxie Pest Control I am writing to file a complaint against Moxie Pest Control for deceptive practices, ineffective services, and poor customer service.Issues:1. Mis***resentation of Contracts:A sales *** signed me up for mosquito and pest control contracts, falsely assuring me they werent contracts and could be canceled anytime without penalty.2. Pet Safety Mis***resentation:The *** claimed the treatment was pet-friendly but failed to inform me that pets needed to be removed for an hour after spraying.3. Ineffective Treatments: Multiple mosquito treatments had no effect. A technician also refused to spray during a secondary treatment, citing a warranty, and the promised quarterly treatment was mishandled.4. Unauthorized Rescheduling: Moxie rescheduled appointments without my consent, causing inconvenience.5. Negligent Service: On August 12, 2024, Moxie promised a service after 1:00 PM with a 30-minute prior call. I arrived home at 1:10 PM to find the technician's vehicle outside. After quickly putting away groceries, I returned to find the technician had left. I received no call and later got an email stating the service was completed, which was impossible as my yard was locked.6. Poor Communication:Despite immediate follow-up with customer care, I was left without resolution. I was eventually rescheduled for a ***************** which was inconvenient, and charged for a service that was not completed. I requested a call from a supervisor after 1:30 PM, but they called earlier, and subsequent attempts to reach them have been ignored.Resolution Requested:Full Refund: Refund the money charged for the incomplete pest service.Contract Termination: Cancel the contract without an early termination fee.I have tried to resolve these issues with Moxie Pest Control directly, but their unprofessionalism has left me no choice but to seek assistance from the Better Business Bureau.Sincerely,****** *****Business Response

Thank you for your response. However, it does not address the core issues of my complaint:

2. **Pet Safety Misrepresentation**: The safety of my pets was misrepresented, and I was not informed that they needed to be removed for an hour after spraying.
3. **Ineffective Treatments and Service Negligence**: Despite multiple treatments, there was no improvement, and on August 12, 2024, the service was falsely reported as completed when it was not possible due to the locked yard. Additionally, rescheduling without consent caused significant inconvenience.
4. **Poor Communication**: My attempts to resolve these issues with your customer service team were unsuccessful, and I have been charged for services that were not rendered.
While I understand your offer to set up re-services, my primary concerns are the deceptive practices and lack of accountability demonstrated by Moxie Pest Control. I believe that a full refund and contract termination without penalty are justified given the circumstances.

Thank you for your feedback. The agreement states there is a cancelation fee under your signature in section 11. The account also shows multiple canceled appointments to where we are unable to fulfill our quarterly appointments. The service comes with unlimited reservice as stated also in the agreement, customer's are not required to be home either since the services consist on the exterior of the home.Customer Answer

I appreciate your response, but it still does not address the fundamental issues raised in my complaint:
1. **Misrepresentation of Contract Terms**: The sales representative explicitly stated that there were no contracts and that I could cancel at any time without penalty. This verbal assurance directly contradicts the written agreement, which I was not properly informed about at the time of signing.
2. **Pet Safety Misrepresentation**: The safety of my pets was falsely represented. I was not informed that they needed to be removed from the area for an hour after spraying, which is a significant omission and a serious concern.
3. **Ineffective Treatments**: Despite multiple treatments, the mosquito problem was not resolved. Additionally, the technician did not complete the service on August 12, 2024, yet I was charged for it. The service was reported as completed even though my yard was locked, making it impossible for the technician to access the property.
4. **Poor Communication and Unauthorized Rescheduling**: The unauthorized rescheduling of appointments and poor communication further compounded the issues. The missed appointments were due to rescheduling done without my consent, which created significant inconvenience.
I understand that the agreement mentions a cancellation fee and allows for reservice without the homeowner being present. However, these points do not address the deceptive practices and service failures that I have experienced. I believe that a full refund and contract termination without penalty are warranted given the misrepresentation and the lack of effective service.
I am seeking a fair and reasonable resolution to these issues and would appreciate it if Moxie Pest Control could address the specific concerns I have raised.

in May i had a young man come to my home. He told me several of my neighbors were customers. offered me a one time charge of $59 for spraying around the house for bugs. i point blank asked if i was signing me up for a continuing service. He said no. If i liked the service i could sign up for more. i asked again if it was a one time charge of $59. He stated yes. I said ok and signed the authorization for 1 time service. Now they are trying to tell me i signed up for a year and trying to bill me. Shortly after that service my credit card started getting charges from all over the place. i had to close the account. they have been contacting me for payment which i have refused and told them several times i did not sign up for a yearly service.Business Response

Sales person came to my door selling moxie membership. I have a squirrel problem in the attic. He assured me for sure that they covered it. The only reason for me signing the contract. I then found out that they dont cover squirrels, they dont even come in the house. I read similar reviews. I called to cancel and they would not let me without charging me. MOXIE came out for a "free inspection: of pur attic, only to tell us we had a rat infestation that would cost $18 000 to fix.Citing that if we didn't do it correctly we would have hundreds of new baby rats. They were dishonest and fraudulent. I want out of my contract with this crooked company. We had another licensed professional. That strictly does this for a living? Come out and told us there was no recent activity that whatever he saw up there was very, very old damage to insulation. I am rejecting this response because: we requested another reputable licensed company Who stated that? None of the findings of moxie was in fact true and gave us a quote of two hundred forty dollars to replace insulation. All the findings that moxie stated we're a lie natural, not even close to the truth. They are dishonest and fraudulent in their findings. Therefore I want to not accept what they are saying to be true. This company made a false assessment of the attic. I will finish out the remainings of the contract and I want my contract to be. I was approached by a Moxie sales representative at my house on July 4th. After they gave me their sales pitch, I asked if I was going to be under contract by signing up for their services. The representative promised me that I would not be under contract. He only asked that I stay a year with Moxie to see how I liked it. I agreed to the services after being told that I would not be placed under contract. After a month, I called to cancel my service and I was told I could not cancel without a hefty fee since I was under contract. I informed the representative that I was told I would not be placed under contract by the sales representative and they said they were sorry that was communicated that way, but I am still under contract for a year. The sales representative lied to me to get me under contract. This is unlawful and unethical practices by Moxie.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Moxie has failed to reach out to me in any matter. If Moxie would like to research the matter, I can provide the name and phone number of the Moxie representative that told me that I was not signing a contract when accepting their services. Moxie has also failed to provide me with the contract I apparently signed. I have no documentation of the agreement. I would like to be removed from contract since the Moxie lied to me about agreeing to a contract. Again, these are unlawful and unethical practices.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: There was no conversation where Moxie told me I was signing a contract for a year. I asked the Moxie salesman if there I was signing up for a contract and he told me no. I was never once told I was entering into a contract. The conversation I had with the salesman the following day was to reschedule the appointment, not to discuss the contract. I was simply lied to and tricked into agreeing to a contract.Business Response
