This company, RENTDEBT COLL, placed a collection on my credit for rent in the amount of $380. I am a homeowner and their account is in a different name. I was told I needed to pay the collection in order to remove it. Then was told they would not remove it. I am so confused and feel as though I have been scammed.

I paid this creditor in full on 4/4/25. They refuse to report the account as paid in full to the creditor bureaus. They reported the account past due in the amount of $906 twice this month. I have called several times and requested that they fairly report the account as paid in full, but they are refusing to do so. The only thing that I was advised that they are willing to do is provide a pay off letter. I have disputed the account to the major credit bureaus and Im awaiting a resolution. Unfortunately Im going to have to seek litigation against the company for unfair practices.

I paid this creditor in full on 4/4/25. They refuse to report the account as paid in full to the creditor bureaus. They reported the account past due in the amount of $906 twice this month(4/10/25 and 4/25/25). I have called several times and requested that they fairly report the account as paid in full, but they are refusing to do so. Before I paid the account in full I was advised that it would be reported to the credit bureaus as paid in full. However now Im being told that the only thing theyre required to do is provide a paid in full letter to me. They are now refusing to report the account as paid in full to the credit bureaus. I have disputed the account to the major credit bureaus and Im awaiting a resolution. Unfortunately Im going to have to seek litigation against the company for unfair practices.

    Customer Answer

Please see attachment. This is the only proof they are willing to provide. Ive reached out several times and asked them to fairly report the paid in full status to the credit bureaus. However they refuse to do so. The account was paid in full on 4/4/25 and they are still reporting it to the credit bureaus as past due. They last reported it on 4/25/25. According to the **** they are required to report fairly but they have refused to do so. Please see the attachment as that is my proof that the account has been paid in full.

I woke up yesterday morning to a notification from experian that I have a new report on my credit. They reported to me to collections saying I owe an apartment $300. I am currently waiting on paperwork from them on this. They placed this on my credit without contacting me. It sure wouldve been nice if I was made aware of this at some point in time between 2022 until now 2025 before it was placed on my credit. Beware everyone, without verifying debt or even speaking to you about it, they just go ahead and place it on your credit.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/14/2025

I dont know if I owe this debt. I am currently waiting on paperwork from them. The fact of the matter is, this shouldve been done before this debt was placed on my credit report. Verifying the debt should be done before a debt is placed on my credit. I am reporting that.

Not once did anyone from this company contact me about this. Almost three year, no communication about this, only to wake up one day, my credit dinged and now I collections account from almost three years ago, that I didnt know about.

This company has contacted me about a supposed debt that should have never been listed as a debt. I moved out of an apartment 11/5/2023 and paid in full with a check that cleared my account within 3 weeks of the check being sent. I have called my rental company and they said they never sent me to collection because I paid in full. I have called rent debt to get it remove and was told even with a copy of my check that shows the money was taken from me in the time frame, they cannot remove it unless the apartment complex provides a letter, claiming they sent me but the apartment complex shows I had paid in full and know nothing about the debt collection agency. This is terrible business and a horrible consumer experience. As soon as my check was provided this should have been removed from mt credit report. It never should have showed up in the first place

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/18/2025

This is proof from the apartment complex that this was reported to my credit in error. Now, because I filed a complaint with you, they will not speak to me. They told me I have to wait for their compliance department to call me and won't even give me a time frame of when that will happen. I spoke to a supervisor who was incredibly rude and said "yeah I don't know what to tell you, compliance will call you when they want to." I do not have unlimited time to waste on this and need it removed from my credit as it is putting my living situation in jeopardy.
