I took out a loan with ****** ******* due to being behind on payments on a past due car loan payment, I had every intention of paying off the loan but I was terminated from multiple jobs along with no financial assistance, no unemployment benefits, I was evicted from my home along with having my vehicle repossessed and living on the streets, shelters or in vacant properties. I barely have $* dollars in my account or pocket. I am estranged from my family and friends so I have NO help there. I am rejecting this response because: they literally just copied and pasted what I wrote and did not offer much information than what I have already done. They didn’t address the fact they are predatory lending. A loan that was $*** jumping to $**** in any capacity or lending is predatory especially if those outrageous rates are not being told in bold print “You will be paying triple of what you owe if you are late” me being late and jumping from $*** to $**** is ludicrous. When I did call them they actually encouraged me to submit a complaint since they weren’t gonna help me and still make me pay a large amount more than owed and more than I could afford ***** * ** ********. I took out a payday loan from "Dakota Funding Group", in the amount of $***.
In **********, if it's called a "payday loan" (which this was), the maximum loan amount is $***, and requires paying back $***
"payday loan" was the search term that brought up "Dakota Funding" in my browser.
I thought it was strange when my payment was only $*****
But the amount of $***** kept happening, again and again and again. Every 2 weeks.
After it happened 6 times and I had repaid over $***, I had to pay my bank to block further payments.
And the calls keep coming thru asking for more (but I work nights, so ringer is always off during daytime).
And AFTER re-paying over $***, for a $*** loan, they still want $***+
I can understand wanting to make a profit, but considerable profit has been made.Business Response

Hello, I have recently took out a loan with Taft Howard Group. I recently discovered that they are not licensed in my state. I know they say they have sovereign immunity, I do believe they need to follow interst rate guidelines. It is also frustrating that I can barely pay off my loan as my payment seems to only go towards interest and not to paying off the principal. This makes it impossible to pay off. I am also unable to make future payments due to the amount I'll be paying every two weeks. I would like Taft Howard Group to consider my loan paid in full based on overcharged interest I paid on previous loans.Business Response

I took out a $*** loan with Fair Trust Group (AKA WLCC Lending FFG, d/b/a Fair Trust Group) in January 2023. Since then, I have made two on-time payments of $****** each, so I'm $****** away from repaying the principal. I checked my loan balance last week, and it says I still owe $*******! That is ******% interest, which is not only completely illegal in my state (where interest rates on loans can't exceed **%), but payday loans are also illegal in my state. This company claims they're run by a sovereign nation, but they're doing business in *******, peddling illegal loans with interest rates over TWENTY ONE TIMES the legal rate. They're preying upon people with nowhere else to go to obtain loans and keeping them in a cycle of debt. Because this is a completely illegal loan, I'm willing to pay the company the remaining principal to settle the initial loan amount but not a penny more. I can't afford any more of these insanely high payments on this illegal loan, and continuing to make these payments would force me to choose between buying groceries for my family or paying this ********** *********, ******** company. When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
