I called Carolina Conditions to diagnose what I suspected was a refrigerant leak from my a/c unit. I was told beforehand it would be a $149 service call fee plus the cost of the leak test. The technician came to my house on 8/11/23. I was out of town, but my wife met with the technician. He told her a total amount due of $212.48 after completing the service. Her credit card ended up being processed for $361.28 unbeknownst to her . The technician never showed her a copy of the invoice or anything in writing. I received an email copy of the payment confirmation. I called to dispute the charges and spent the better part of a week being avoided by the service manager, including having him no-show for a scheduled phone call. I was offered a $60 refund but declined because my intent was not to negotiate a discount. They processed the refund anyway against my wishes. I was hoping instead they would acknowledge a mistake and offer to make it right. The service manager was firm that the charges were legitimate. I asked to speak to the owner but was never contacted by him. I also mailed a letter to the office with no response. Not knowing if he's even aware of this issue, I'm now filing this complaint. Due to all this, I ended up using a different company to supply and install a new system for our home.
