"5 Steps to Better Business Cybersecurity,” is a program for business and civic groups in Central Ohio to help businesses protect themselves and their customers from cyber thieves. This program, presented by BBB professionals, will give you suggestions to begin implementing immediately and is part of BBB’s commitment to marketplace trust.

This program utilizes compelling stories of victims and perpetrators and uncovers the persuasion tactics that con artists use to defraud their victims and the basic tools investors can use to defend against fraud. Anyone can become a victim of consumer fraud. Fraudsters not only target older Americans who are nearing or already in retirement, but also have their sights on millions of Baby Boomers. You are never too young to become a smart investor.

Seniors may not be aware that they have fallen for a scam until it's too late and may avoid telling anyone for fear of losing independence by appearing so vulnerable. Our goal is to inform seniors and other groups about issues of interest to seniors today. We give consumers the tools to deal with frauds and scams directed at this growing demographic. Consumers can connect to the resources of Better Business Bureau and other agencies to become better informed in today's marketplace.

Identity Theft claims more than 10 million victims per year, and as we grow more and more dependant on new technology such as laptop computers and smart phones, personal information had become even more at risk for identity theft. This program will provide everyday habits to safeguard your identity; tips on how to detect if you are a victim, and what to do if your identity is stolen.

BBB is proud to present a dual program called Keeping Kids Safe Online, featuring our Parents Program (What You Don’t Know Can Hurt Your Kids) and our Kids Program (All Up in Your Business). The internet offers a world of opportunities. People of all ages share photos and videos, build online profiles, text each other and create alter egos in the form of online avatars. For children, especially, these ways of socializing and communicating can be fulfilling, and yet, they come with risks. This presentation covers what parents need to know to help protect their children and reduce the risks by talking to your kids about how they communicate – online and off – and encouraging them to engage in conduct they can be proud of.

In this program, teens will learn about: Understanding and Using Credit Wisely - Using Cell Phones Wisely - Planning, Budgeting, and Saving and Avoiding Identity Theft.

BBB Military Line provides consumer education and advocacy for military consumers and their families. Our experience shows that military personnel are frequently the victims of unethical and unscrupulous business practices. In order to reduce the number of military personnel falling victim to these predatory practices, BBB Military Line uses both Web-based resources and local BBB outreach within the Continental United States. BBB offers an array of interactive and engaging Financial Workshops.

Trust in the marketplace is generated by a great reputation… This presentation will illustrate how a company establishes such a reputation, including the role of vendors, partners, customers, and especially employees. This includes why some owners/leaders have organizations with marketplace trust and how this impacts performance.
