1 starI took advantage of their referral program which offered a $2000.00 bonus for referring new businesses. I submitted a referral back in May that qualified me for that bonus. I sold my business in October and also urged the new owners to use Shift4 as well which they did. I didnt submit a referral for them. I followed up regularly, and was finally sent a W9 in November. I asked the *** when I would receive my bonus. She said payments are submitted on December 20th which I was excited about right before Christmas. I followed up December 17th and did not receive a response. I contacted customer service December 20th and was advised the *** ****** did not have a direct line. She would forward my info to ******. Next thing I know, I receive an email Im now disqualified. I read the terms again. I sent a text to my sales *** in which I was told me closing my account should not disqualify me because people that arent customers receive the refer bonus. I have been patient almost a full year and now Im told this a few days before Christmas. I have referred so many customers without submitting referrals because I belong to a lot of Coffee Business owner groups. Now I feel terrible because if this has happened to me. How many others are scammed by this referral program.Shift4

I have already taken every route available to me. Nothing seems to work! You want the referrals, but you don't want to follow through with paying for the referrals. I just want everyone who checks these reviews to know what type of an experience they will be faced with it they use your point-of-sale system and have any issues. When I email or call my issue is put off. They will act like they are working on the issue but it never gets resolved.Review fromChristy R

1 starNot a business owner, but a user of their system. Worst ever. Not for any business looking for speed. Updates ruin any fixes we made to our inventory. Havent been able to balance a drawer since we implicated it. (1 yr ago). Every employee hates that they cant increase the font size. It is minuscule & in a fast paced bar/restaurant, it slows even the fastest server down. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. *** also reviewed this on their website but somehow it hasnt shown up..wonder why?Shift4

1 starShift4 uses hard sell tactics to convert merchant services. They shut down our credit card processing system in an effort to get us to convert to a new system when the software still had thirty days (according to ****) the Supervisor for the Echo system. Written communications with customer retention department would never provide an expiration date for existing software. Cheating a ************* by not providing a detailed written proposal further muddies the ethical business practices of this organization. ******Shift4

1 starWithout a doubt, one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company. I completed an ownership change in April 2024, they double charged for months (charged for both accounts) even while reaching out to the *** assigned to my accounts. I've sent all their equipment back and now they are refusing to refund any of the money for double charging and stating that even though we did an ownership change that doesn't remove the prior account, i would have had to manually close it. So they kept both accounts open and charged for both of them. I understand why their overall rating is a 1.09. Its a complete scam and i wouldn't recommend anyone do business with them. Stay far, far away as they are a sham.Shift4

1 starShift4Shop used to be 3DCART but they bought it a few years ago and ever since then everything has been a nightmare to say the least. I first started using 3DCART back in 2009 for 15 years, so I am a living archive of the entire history. As much as I wish I had good things to say about them, unfortunately, I am here leaving my last farewell review before finally moving on to other platform after dealing with and tolerating uncountable problems and issues, both technical and customer service wise. I know everyone who is reading here is a business owner who has no time to waste, so I will make it quick. DO NOT INVEST you time to establish business on this platform or with them. They have zero respect nor understanding what it means to establish and invest in a business. I regret spending $10,000 to customize when it was 3DCART back then if I had known this s***** company would take over and make all of your lifetime's worth of contribution useless. If anything, they will exactly hold your own investment as hostage to charge you the absurd unitary monthly subscription fee of $316! (if you have shopped around, this is nothing close to reasonable market pricing). I should have filed a small claim for my money back on customization and moved on way earlier but I just couldn't because I just had way too much to lose after building my business here with years and $$$. The management teal is horrible to say the least and is impossible to reach; it took me 1+ years to talk to "highness" in this company when my store broke down after their series of forced "update". If anyone is up for collective lawsuit, I am totally down for it, but I am filing a small claim for the customization fee for the time being for sure individually.Best wishes for all small and little business owners.Shift4

1 starWorking with them is like going to the 7th level of h*** and not being able to exit. I've been trying to cancel our gateway for over a week. They say I can only do it on by phone. When I call and tell them I want to cancel they put me on hold for 10 minutes and then hang up on me. Emailing them only opens up a fake ticket and then they close them without doing anything. They claim they never received our CERTIFIED LETTER!!!! Most companies have an online cancellation form you just sign. Not Shift4. They torture you so they can steal your money. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!Shift4

1 starThis is a horrible company. Anytime we had an issue, it would take hours to get customer service on the phone. The hardware is clunky and slow. The software can't execute simple functions like substitutions necessary for restaurant POS systems. Their reward system is abysmal. Nothing is user-friendly. We switched to Toast, and when we requested our gift card liability report, they demanded a $1000 fee to send it. It's OUR data. We own that data, and they just house itand they're holding it hostage for a fee?! I was livid. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!Shift4

1 starWorst company ever. Highway robbery. Left me without working equipment for two months during the busiest season ever. I had to fight with them to get two months of processing fees waived! I had to file a BBB complaint to get them in the restaurant to fix THEIR equipment. When I changed processors after EIGHT years they tried to bully me and say their contract automatically renewed. We blocked them out of our bank account, blocked them from our email, and moved on. Best of luck to these blood letters. We really need to take our power back from these companies!
