      Before I switched to consumer cellular I performed the compatability test on my ******* Galexy phone (which I had been using for about a year) and was assured it was good. CS sent me a sim card: I installed it and called (on a different phone) to activate the service. When I attempted to answer the phone later it didn't work. (The phone app had been rendered useless by their Sim card) I called CS and they said I needed to get a new phone. So I spent $300 on a new ******* Galexy phone and when I installed the sim card in it it trashed the phone app on that phone too. So I've had to use an old iPhone (and carry around 2 phones...at my extra expense) for the past 3 months. After arguing, I got them to send me a new sim card but it didn't help. So, essentially, CS trashed 2 perfectly good phones, and I'm left with trying to, at my time and expense, either try to find a way to repair the app, or afford another phone so I can make/receive calls.I went back to straighttalk, and at least nothing else is trashed. I talked with 2 different CS agents who both said it's not uncommon for the ******* phones to have "compatability issues ". So, they know it's happening and do not warn about the problem or seem interested in fixing it. I also felt like whatever system they use to calculate data usage is not congruent with other carriers. I got throttled every month for the last week; something I've NEVER run into before. It was bad.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you avoid this carrier. Too bad. The one thing they have right is the customer service part. Good people, who are from this country, and you can communicate fluently with them.

This is definitely not the experience we want our customers to have. Customers may choose a Consumer Cellular device or use their own.While we have great success with most third-party devices, we cannot guarantee the functionality of all devices or all features of a non-Consumer Cellular device with our service. We can only be sure that a non-Consumer Cellular phone will work with our service once the device is activated with a Consumer Cellular SIM. Device compatibility is available on our website when entering the **** number and states, "If your device needs a physical SIM card, the ones we provide most commonly work with phones used on AT&T service. Your phone must be unlocked by your previous carrier (if applicable)." The website explains," while our **************** representatives do everything they can to help solve customers' problems, we can't guarantee every cellphone model can be configured with our data service.". The website also states, "Many phones that are compatible with our service will allow you to modify the settings and begin using our picture messaging and web service. However, there are some phones that will not work. If you have difficulties, we can help you select one of our affordable data capable phones that will arrive fully programmed."

      We have been very happy with our Consumer Cellular provider and phones. I was getting a little upset with our bill seeming to keep rising, but also have to realize that state/local taxes rising will affect that, too, so we calmed down ~ :>D We've shopped around for other providers and haven't found one that surpasses the service we've been getting with Consumer Cellular over the past 7-8 yrs. Looks like they will have us for a life time! We received our new phone upgrade for hubby, and love it! Seems to be a little larger and easier to navigate for him (he's not a smart phone kinda guy ~ LoL). Can't really complain at all. Thank you!

      Sorry, been busy with holiday doings, have barely opened the box. I'll get to it in the next couple of days... I DO NOT expect any problems, have been a CC customer for many years and seldom have any problems. I am distressed to see the nasty, ignorant "reviews" below, I can't help but think either they are by children thinking they're being funny or people paid by your competition!

      Trying to port a number away from consumer cellular, and they refuse! Very unprofessional! Evident by their BBB rating, they are a terrible company with deceptive practices.

      Delivery was fine. Activation not so fine. Activation online failed midway through and I could not redo it because the link disappeared. I decided to call customer service but no one answered at either the activation phone number nor the regular phone number despite numerous calls on 2 different phones. I went to online chat, which was tedious with email code requests, etc. and produced no results, though the supervisor who responded was great. After too much time he advised me to try your phone line in 2 to 3 hours, so I'm waiting.

      Poor customer service. Penalize for not using paperless billing. Numerous drop calls. Bills vary monthly regardless of usage. I went to a prepaid service, so I know how much I am being billed. Even with my AARP discount, it still costs more than some other providers that provide better plans. Would not recommend this company.
