Leaf Filter product installed at residence ******. I, today, noticed flashing behind the Leaf Filter product has become loose. In reading the "lifetime warranty" it states that if I or anyone else removes the Leaf Filter product it could void the warranty. I contacted Leaf Filter service dept and was told that after one year I would have to pay a "service charge" of $105 for them to come out and take care of the problem. I later received a phone call *** who identified himself as the manager for the **** office and asking what the problem was. I explained that flashing had come loose behind the Leaf Filter product. He stated that the flashing should be nailed down and not come loose. There are no nail holes in the flashing so the flashing was in the same condition today as it was the day the Leaf Filter product was installed. I stated to him that the product was installed over the edge of the flashing and it had now come loose; further that I was unable to put flashing back up under shingles due to the necessity of product being removed. He stated that he did not understand the problem, but for a service charge of $105, plus an undetermined amount per foot, the problem could be rectified. I stated that the problem as he saw it was present when the product was installed. I believe that if there was a problem with unsecured flashing it should have been brought to my attention. He stated that there was nothing he could do under warranty. Reason it took over a year to report was that it was not apparent until today.Business Response

Leaf Filter is willing and able to service/inspect installation per warranty and contract. Service fees are applicable per section D of the contract.Customer Answer
Date: 01/24/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
In speaking with the representative of Leaf Filter, he stated to me that the edge flashing should be nailed or affixed to prevent it from moving. The flashing was inspected by Leaf Filter at the time of installation and the gutter covers were screwed in place. The original contract states that "We will inspect and completely clean out your existing gutters and downspouts and repair any damage to them if necessary." Now I am told that the flashing being loose is a problem and they will fix it, but with a service call and a per foot charge for repair. The flashing should have been taken care of at the time of the original installation. Not to have done so has now resulted in a situation where the flashing has come our from behind the gutter covers leaving me with one of two options: 1) fix it myself and risk voiding the warranty or 2) paying Leaf Filter an unknown amount of money to remedy the problem.

My elderly mothers home had snow damage to gutters front and back leaving them hanging or off completely. She contacted Leaf Filter to get a estimate for repair which the sales rep Anthony May quoted $1033 07/08/21. He advised her she really needed also to have the gutter guards installed and gutters secured throughout her entire gutter system or it could happen again. She agreed with his advice and chose to wait until she knew she could afford the payment with her fixed income and called him back 10/18/22. This time the total bill came to $7518. The day came for install and the workers left. The gutter guards were placed all over the existing gutters however the damaged and hanging gutters were still not repaired. My mother attempted to call the sales rep but he dodged calls. I got involved to help her out. Through a lot of difficulty I finally got ahold of the Arkansas operations manager **** ******. He refused to fix the gutters that my mother specifically called his company to fix unless she pay an additional $1063 stating that it wasn't spelled out specifically in the contract to do so. My mom is almost 80 and knows nothing about gutters and only knew that they obviously needed to be fixed because of the water damage to the exterior door frames from water splash and the leak above her kitchen window from the water pouring in from above roof and splashing off the porch and down the side of the house. So she is paying 7 times what was initially quoted but the most important part she wanted fixed was left untouched. Enclosed are the two contracts and the pictures are how LeafFilter left her gutters. Contract completed according to **** ******.Customer Answer

Leaf Filter system was installed per the agreed upon contract signed on 10/17/22. The customer also signed a Certificate of Completion on 10/18/22 confirming they were satisfied with the installation. Leaf Filter was not contracted to remove said gutters. As a sign of good faith, Leaf Filter representation has offered to remove an replace the damaged gutters at no charge to the customer. The customer's son refused this offer and demanded that all of the gutters be replaced at no charge. Leaf Filter has deemed this request unwarranted. Leaf Filter has completed our contractual obligations as everything was completed per the signed contract. This matter is resolved.Customer Answer
Date: 01/31/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
First of all, why would my mother be happy with continued
water damage as a result of the damaged gutters. This is the main thing she
wanted fixed but also agreed to the gutter filters for the entire system to make sure this didn’t
happen again. Gutter filters on the rest of the home gutters are great to
prevent other intact gutters from future problems but if the existing damaged, hanging,
and missing gutters aren’t fixed then the water damage continues to occur at
those locations.
Secondly the Leaf Gutters response is an outright lie and is
a perfect example of what my mother had to deal with when dealing with the Leaf
Filter salesman. I have text messages
from **** ****** operations manager of Arkansas confirming exactly what I wrote
in the original complaint. I uploaded the conversation which occurred on
Friday January 20th at 1600hrs which is 11 days before their deceitful response today. The messages with prove that he
refused to “provide an additional 170 feet of gutter” and that they would only
provide it “for below our cost of 1543.00 and do it for 1063.00.” Never once
did I nor my mother request to replace the entire gutter system. She only needs
what was promised and the Leaf Filter supervisor is going out of his way to lie
in order not to do the job.Business Response
Date: 02/08/2023
Leaf Filter stands by our stance that all
contractual obligations have been met, as the damaged gutter is a preexisting
issue unrelated to the LF system. We have offered the customer to replace the
50 Ft. of damaged gutter on the front portion of the home at no cost to the
customer, or the customer has the 170ft gutter replaced at a discounted cost to
customer satisfaction. The customer has refused both of these offers and is
attempting to renegotiate an already executed contract. Leaf Filter has found
that the customer's request to have all of the gutters replaced at no charge is
unwarranted. We are unable to come to a resolution until the customer chooses
one of these options.Customer Answer
Date: 02/08/2023
I am rejecting this response because:
I reject Leaf Filters response because the repair of
the damaged gutters was supposed to be completed as well as the leaf filter
placement on the gutters regardless of what they say. They were solely
contacted initially because of the damaged gutters from a snowstorm and the
continued water damage that was occurring because of them not being in place.
The leaf filters were agreed upon as well at the suggestion of the salesman. This was the agreement between my mom and the
salesman. How on earth does the leaf filter company believe that only placing
leaf filters on the other undamaged gutters and not fixing the broken gutters
make any sense whatsoever. If my mother believed that they were not going to
fix the gutters then she wouldn’t have signed a contract or paid them anything
as the work done did nothing to fix what she called them about in the first
place. The single worker that was on site during the leaf filter install stated
he had to come back with another worker in order to replace the damaged
gutters. When nobody ended up returning subsequently, she attempted to contact the
sales rep to no avail. I have already
proved how deceitful the Arkansas Operations Supervisor has been with his text
messages which disprove the statement earlier about agreeing to fix the damaged
gutters. Now we are continuing to hear their double talk. Leaf Filters last BBB response stated “As a sign of good faith, Leaf Filter
representation has offered to remove an replace the damaged gutters at no
charge to the customer.” Now they are back peddling and stating that
they will only replace a small portion which is 50ft of the damaged gutters. I
have never dealt with a company trying to go out of its way not to due the
right thing and fulfill their obligation like this. The worst part is that they
are taking advantage of a single elderly woman who cannot defend herself against
this outright deception and fraudulent activity.Initial Complaint

On January 16, 2023, I contacted LeafFilter as I had a coupon for 20% off. I recently moved into this home and it did not have any gutters and desperately needed them. They called me and set up an appt for 5:00 that day. The salesperson was ******* *******. He was young and seemed a little green, but we had a good rapport - we knew some of the same people - so things went smoothly I thought. He had measured everything, had a diagram, photos, etc. He presented me with a quote of $4,000 less the 20% coupon, so the total was $3,246. Even though I felt that was alot, I felt having the leaf filter gutters would be worth the investment. We scheduled the install for the following afternoon between 12-4. ******* left my house at around 6:15 and by 7:30 I had a call stating the install HAD to be in the morning as there was a conflict. I work from home so even though I was busy I said that was fine. During the install, ******* called to tell me he miscalculated and there was an additional 20 feet he left out so it would be another $250. I'd either have to pay it or he'd have to eat it. I said I won't pay it, I had agreed to the price quoted. The install was done and he needed me to sign some papers. I mentioned the filters and he said Oh, there's no filters, these are just gutters. I was SHOCKED to say the least. He made a call to someone and I texted ******* asking what was going on. I did not sign the papers. ******* called, I told him he never mentioned to me that filters were not incl in this price-not one time did he ever mention you could get them without the filters. I said I wanted to have a manager call me. He called me back and said it would be $5,100 more to add the filters. I said now I really wanted a manager, he said someone will call. I have made multiple calls to them, everyone saying someone will call me asap, and as of right now, still no call to discuss this. That's 3 errors by the salesperson and complete silence from mgmtBusiness Response

The installation was completed per the agreed upon contract signed on 1/16/2023. The customer agreed to have only gutters and downspouts installed. Leaf Filter is willing and able to provide a quote for the Leaf Filter system itself. Leaf Filter requests that once they have decided to move forward with the installation of the Leaf Filter gutter protection system that they contact us, and we will pick a date/time that works best for them.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not "agree to only gutters". This is exactly the point of what I have been trying to get across to them. I called "LeafFilter", I wanted a quote on leaffilter gutters. The salesman never once - not once - during the hour he spent with me did he EVER say this is ONLY for gutters, or ask if I'd like to know the price to include the leaf filters. Their contract is very deceiving, and on top of that add a young inexperienced salesperson that never mentions this. I don't appreciate being told this is MY fault for not asking. Again - no differentiation was made by the salesperson that this was not including the filters. I can't even get this company to apologize for this error. The salesperson did call me, again during the installation, and said oh if you want those it's going to be another $5,100. That is nearly double the cost of the gutters so that will NEVER happen on my house. Evidently this company will only back their salespeople and do not care about the customers. I do not appreciate being yelled at by the direction of operations and being told that I need to take responsibility for this. I'm sorry, as I said to him, I do not know how their business operates, just as they don't know how mine does. I feel that I am being taken advantage of, and I certainly would have been fired from my job if I spoke to a customer, especially one that has already paid for services rendered, the way Mr. ****** spoke to me.If they want to stick to their guns and blame this on me, fine, if it makes them sleep at night I guess. But I am NOT happy and will not be happy with this resolution.

Looking for a better gutter guard then the *** products I've used in the past, I settled on LeafFilter. After settling on 5K, we scheduled the install. The install went smoothly. During the first rainstorm I had to go up on the roof to see what was going on. I had rain shooting off of my valleys like hydro tubes at a water park. There was a section of LeafFilter that was missed and not installed at one of the dormers as well. I called LeafFilter and after a few weeks they finally sent an installer to add valley diverters that were not initially installed and installed the missing section of LeafFilter at the dormer. The next rainstorm and it was the same. I let it go for some time. The LeafFilter does not self-clean like the salesman's demonstration showed. The ******* fir needles will cover the whole length of the filter, and you have to get onto the roof to blow off said needles. Good luck getting LeafFilter to come and clean them as promised if need be. They claim they are supposed to clean themselves. Finally, we had enough. We wanted our money back. After going back and forth with them for weeks, to months, they sent another installer to inspect how the installation. The installer, (which by the way are subcontracted by LeafFilterm anbd wants the job so he gets paid) convinced LeafFilter that the LeafFilter product was installed incorrectly so the reluctantly okayed him to remove all of the product and re-install it. There is literally no difference between how it was and how it is now, except the installer did away with the valley diverters. He said they were unnecessary and that they can cause rainwater to run back under the roof shingles potentially causing damage. With the next rainstorm we had the same issues and with a torrential down pour the water sheds off of the roof so bad that it floods my crawl space through a foundation vent. We want our money back, and now they are ghosting us.Business Response

I entered into a agreement to have my gutters fixed and a salesman came out look at the job (never went up a latter) and gave me a pricing and a guarantee. The installer came out as promised (nice person) and said he would have to come back the next day as there were issues and he didn't have the correct tools. He showed back the next day and said there was some underlining issues one he could fix but another in a different area he couldn't. He proceeded to do the work and completed it. Within 2 days it rained and I have more leaks then before and I reach out to the sales person and "My job is finished you need to put in a service request".. I then called the installer and he said that he would put in a service/work order. I didn't thrust them so I hired another person to come out and they informed me there were underlining issues that needed to be addressed and until this was done I would most likely have leaks. I called the service department and spoke with the manger and he said I was fully aware that I had issues, and I told them to go ahead. I'm a senior and if they told me I didn't understand, and now I don't trust them. I spent over $7,000 for less then 150ft of gutter, I believe they took advantage of me and my age. They gave me a bid without even looking at the job, then came out and did the job knowing I had other issues. I will continue this fight to include Senior Protection Laws of *******Business Response

Installation was scheduled for 1/9/2023, however, the
installer found a hole on the roof and showed photos to the customer making
them aware. Customer stated they would get a roofer to fix it, we stopped the
installation for the day, came back as agreed on 1/11/23 to complete our
installation. Our installer saw the roof was not fixed, and as a courtesy
to the customer added some caulk by the drip edge area to avoid any issues with
the gutter. The installation was completed per the agreed upon contract signed
on 1/5/2023. The customer’s leaking issues are directly correlated to the hole
in their roof and is unrelated to the Leaf Filter system. Leaf Filter has found
that the customer’s request for removal and refund is unwarranted. This matter

I am rejecting this response because: They say the job was complete as outline in the contract, it's not they have 40feet not completed and they sent a installer to complete the job but I do not trust them, so we are waiting on a phone call from a Mr. ********* as to a settlement on this issue. As to the leak yes I had underlining issues that is causing the current leak. My issue remains the same they do not examine the area where they are putting the gutters up they stand on the ground and say it will be X dollars. Now if they would have examine the area where the gutters were they would have known there was other issues that are not gutters related that would still cause leaking. So it's a smart sales pitch they guarantee their gutters as to not to leak and they are probably correct, instead they send out a installer who works for 45mins and then comes to me to point out issues, I believe they took advantage of me and my age this just is not right. So yes I reject their answer as themsaying the contract was completed per the contract, and I'm still looking for an adjusted.Business Response

Ms ****** I have attached a video to show that your system has not prevented your system preventing my water issues coming from my roof. Before I take this to my attorney I truly believe your company deceived me as to what your product would do to prevent my leaks. I want to remind you that your salesperson guaranteed me that I would not have any further issues, I find this hard to believe without him even going onto my roof to look at all the issues. On 7/10 2008 Leaf Filter installed gutters & their filter system. Including a lifetime warranty. the price was$6166.60. Upon completion, I was given a written lifetime warranty guarantee. Starting ~2021 the gutters started to become clogged & water flowed over them. I finally called them to have them cleaned & *****, on 7/6/2022 came to clean them., He stated that these were an old-style filter that could not be cleaned & new improved one's s/b installed under the warranty, He took pictures & forwarded them to headquarters, My cost for this call $103.08. From 7/18 through 8/11 I made many calls to Leaf Filter & was met w/ no return calls to solve the problem. Finally on 8/15 I made contact w/ *****{sp} who told me that a 3rd party installed THEIR gutters & gutter filters, so my warranty was null & void. The installers did a perfect job!!! July 2021 ,installation of gutter guards. Salesman from leaf filter had made measurements for gutters.
In December 2022 ,on a visit from service rep named *****, he noted that two gutter sections in rear area of home had no guards. Reported info to service dept. Service dept reported to me that management would not complete job at no charge. My notes from initial sales person noted that it was to be a complete not a partial installation.Leaf filter stated that the error was not theirs and that there would be a sizable charge to complete. I feel that the error was a salesman error in his instructions to installers . I would never have approved an incomplete installation of a gutter protection system. I have already spent $4290.Business Response

Per prior inspections, it was found that the LF system has
been installed per the agreed upon contract signed on 6/28/21. Leaf Filter was
contracted to install 144’ of the gutter protection. Additionally, the customer
signed a certificate of completion on 7/5/21 when the installation was
completed confirming satisfaction. The
customer is claiming there is 53' of filter missing on the job. The gutters in
question look new based on the inspection photos taken as there is little to no
debris on the inside of the gutters. If the customer would like to have the
Leaf Filter gutter protection installed on these gutters, Leaf Filter would be
willing to offer a quote to install on the gutters in question.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
The gutters in question are not new and were on the home at the time of the original leaf filter measurements. The sales agent did not mention or point out any gutters missing in his job proposal .Leaf filter bears some responsibility in a partial home gutter proposal that is not what the customer would accept from a reputable company . Why would I want only part of my home covered .The home was powerwashed and painted recented. I am insulted that leaf filter insinuates that these are newer gutters.Business Response

Leaf Filter asks once the customer has decided to move forward with the lanai installation, that they contact us, and we will pick a service date/time that works best for them.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because
I contracted for their gutter system . I have never heard of SUPER gutters. The gutters are the same gutters .We noted a small plant in a rear gutter..We Called leaf filter service. A LF service rep named "*****"came to our home , inspected our gutters and removed a small plant. ***** noted that the gutter covers had not been completely installed. I called the local LF service dept. They confirmed that 2 lengths of gutters had not been installed. They started the current process. I provided them with the original salespersons' notes.

We had leaf filter gutters installed the beginning of May 2022. The tracking was installed under our drip edge and now all of our shingles are coming up and curling on the edges. I had leaf filter come out and do a inspection last month and they tell me it’s not their fault, our roof was not installed properly. I then had the roofing company come and do an inspection (our roof is 7 years old). They tell me the shingles are coming up due to the gutter install. I also had a Pasco County inspector come out and were told the same thing, the gutter install is causing our roofing issues. I want a full refund for these gutters ($3680.00). As you can see in the enclosed pictures, leaf filter did a horrible job and when they came out to inspect, the gentleman had to fix a few spots where the install was not done properly. I now have to have my roof repaired which is not covered under my 15 year warranty with the roofing company.Business Response

My complaint involves overcharging and misrepresentation of the way the payment was to be made. The salesman started out charging us $22,000 and we said no way, then he went down to around $19,000 and then down in $2000 increments after that. He finally came down to $7993 which he said he would only make about a $150 commission. We wanted to think about it since it was such a large amount of money. The salesman said if we didn't sign to have it done while he was there that day, the price would go up if he had to come back out. They came out the very next day after agreeing to it probably so we couldn't change our minds after we thought about it. After agreeing to have it installed, we decided on doing the 12 months same as cash. I wanted to use our credit card to pay for it within about six months so we could get the rewards points. Then we get a credit card in the mail from ***** ***** which was a complete shock. ***** ***** was never brought up to us or this purchase being turned into a credit card account. There was no way I would have agreed to another credit card. I have called LeafFilter five times: Dec. 15, Dec. 19, Dec. 28, Jan. 4 and today, Jan. 10. I'm getting fed the same ** that I will get a call back within 24 hours as that is their "policy". No call has been returned to me ever! I want this resolved by this not being a credit card account with ***** ***** and being an account with LeafFilter so I can pay this the way we planned to pay it. The salesmen misrepresented this sale and it is costing us more in the long run.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I find it hard to sign this agreement telling me I am not allowed to write reviews online, on social media posts, etc. about LeafFilter. The agreement also states that I agree to hold LeafFilter harmless from all future claims. I can't agree to that not knowing what the future is with their product.

The customer was explained the financing details at time of sale by the sales rep. Additionally, the customer signed the agreement electronically, agreeing to the financial terms of the ** credit card agreement. As a sign of good faith, we have offered the customer a credit, however, the customer has refused the sign the agreement. This matter is resolved.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: The salesman never once mentioned this account would be turned into a ***** ***** account. I dislike ***** ***** and would not want to give them my business.
My main reason to reject this response is the fact that I am not allowed to give reviews about this company on any format if I sign the agreement. This is wrong to pay people not to give a review about
their experience with their company. I will sign the agreement if they remove the part about being able to give my reviews on any format, keep in there that I can make any necessary future claims and the $250.00 discount.
