They constantly fight you on everything, even if you've had progressing issues for decades. They also like to give out mixed information. Example: telling my pharmacy I need a prior authorization and when my doctor files one they don't get a denial because they tell my doctor it doesn't need one. This company doesn't care about their patients. I have enough to deal with as it is without having to play phone tag with my pharmacy, insurance, and doctors office. Instead of talking directly to each other clearly and making the process as smooth as possible they force the patient the additional mental breakdown of juggling everyone even though everyone else is getting paid plenty to do their job properly. This is why the American Healthcare system is so terrible and people die because they have to fight tooth and nail for a bread crumb of something that they are supposed to already have. You guys are absolutely terrible and should be ashamed of your practices. Prior authorizations were made to stop doctors from taking advantage of the Healthcare system. Now the Healthcare system is using it as a tool to make people suffer and die needlessly because they can't access their doctors, medications, and testing in a timely fashion. The doctors are already booked months out. Prime example, my back doc i waited 4 months to get in to see and he wants an mri of my entire spine to see how the degenerative disc disease and other issues have progressed, denied, appealed, denied oh look now I have to wait over a month to get in to physical therapy that is only going to make it worse for 6 weeks then they are going to have to pay for the mri afterwards anyways and then hopefully I'll be able to get in a month after that for the mri itself. My treatment shouldn't take over 6 months to start for a problem that's been persistent, established and ongoing for yrs! Yet these places continue to get away with the inhumane treatment of its patients.Review fromCarrie M

I was a member through healthcare.gov for 2022. In June I had a surgery that was pre approved according to a letter I was sent. In July I was informed that part of it was denied, then they tried to deny some therapy that had been previously approved later in the year. In November I signed up for another company’s plan through healthcare.gov for 2023 and received a letter that they were canceling my insurance for the rest of 2022. After spending hours on the phone with them, this was corrected. I will also say that their customer service reps are either not well trained or they outright lie to people when dealing with claims. I was given false information several times when dealing with the denied claims, which by the way are still not resolved. Don’t do business with them, if you can avoid it!Review frommark m

The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. No one speaks English in customer service and I canceled my policy in December and yet they still auto charged my credit card for January even though they acknowledged my cancelling the Policy prior. They have still not credited me back the month and it has been almost 90 days. They keep sending me bills for each month even though they have already told me on the phone that they know my policy is cancelled. Just the worstReview fromTenika B

In May I would have been with care source for a year to be completely honest and blunt I do not like care source at all the first thing that bothers me about CareSource is that I have to go to another state or another city four hours away in order to go to the orthodontist because I need to be put to sleep because I have high anxiety next when I go to the doctor and the doctor place an order for me such as an MRI or a CAT scan I have to go through so many things or jump through so many hoops in order for them to even pay for the MRI today I had an MRI that they decline because they said I have to have been going through physical therapy for six months in order for them to pay for it when I am in pain now and have been dealing with this pain for over five years. This is ridiculous. What is someone supposed to do when they can’t even get the things they need from their insurance company. this insurance company does not give you the things that you need in order to get well. I am not a doctor so if I go to a doctor and they tell me, these are the things I need for my health, then why not pay for it? I am going to switch to another company.Review fromPete S

Regret choosing Caresource from the first place. My partner used their service once before when she was temporarily unemployed but canceled it later. We’ve paid a bill as we used it’s service once to purchase a subscribed medicine. Then a month later, the company sent another bill, telling us to pay the premium when she already canceled their service and with another carrier. We went on her online account but found nothing there to pay. What a bad company to be with. We tried to cancel the service (again) but there’s nothing else to do on her account to cancel it - no instructions whatsoever.Review fromJESSICA V.

This by far is the worst insurance I have ever dealt with in my life they want you to pay these huge premiums and they don't want to pay out anything. You need to have a prior authorization for medication you have been on for literally 10 years and is clearly working doesn't make any sense that they would pay out for medication that cost approximately the same amount of money but not the same medication that you actually need or want therefore causing you to have health issues. Also if you have the app be very careful because when you look at the amount due they'll try to get you to pay twice in one month which is absolutely appalling to me if you have an app there is absolutely no reason that they should not be able to get that right it's an accident they say, I think not! This insurance company is literally robbing people off of the marketplace not Medicaid but people who are paying off of the marketplace robbing Us blind it's highway robbery I will not be renewing this insurance as soon as it is over I don't care how much more money I've got to pay for a better insurance company this is ridiculous. And if I could give this zero Stars I would I don't know how they are still in business.Review fromGina U

I had CARESOURCE for a long period of time. I even paid 800/ month and> 10000 per year. This year I renewed my insurance - and because the premium was not updated, I keep calling to have this fixed. no matter how many times I have spoke to them - they couldn't understand that the invoice doesn't reflect on their site payment page. So last time when I have called - the supervisor called MARKETPLACE too, and I ended been verbally abused by the CARESOURCE supervisor - that started threaten me - SHE KEEP saying " a lot of people though that they are smart and they didn't pay their taxes, but the IRS CAUGHT THEM ALL", the marketplace employee heard her too. . (The market place employee WAS UNPROFESSIONAL TOO, TELLING ME THAT IF YOU ARE MARRIED YOU CAN ONLY APPLY FOR A FAMILY PLAN- she should get more training). After she repeated the 3rd time I just said I do not have to be abused by the CARESOUCE EMPLOYEE. I have cancelled my health insurance and found a different INSURANCE with a different carrier.Review fromLenora C

Thursday before last, my tooth began hurting. I endured Martin Luther king weekend but then on the actual day I was in excruciating pain. Did a search on CareSource app to find an in network doctor. I called every doctor/dentist on that list just to find they either were no longer in service, not accepting new patients, or do not take Caresource. I ended up having to go to ER, just to get some help. Which was probably out of net work too for all I know. After ER, I searched continuously all week for a dentist just to find 1 dentist and I hope they are legit. The app gave you the option to report an entry that was invalid, all entries would have required an individual email to report. Who has that kind of time? And we aren’t receiving a discount on our bills to report these either. When you’re sick, you need clear cut information to get the help you need. Not a rat race that ends in more unnecessary bills. Will not be choosing Caresource next year. Get it together before you get sued.Review fromSusan B

Awful company! I recently left my job due to anxiety (teacher). I didn't realize self-insuring would be so difficult. After asking for quotes online, I initially was contacted by a health insurance rep and was told that CareSource would be the best option financially for me at $30,000 income and that there was an option for dental and vision insurance that would be added to my monthly premium. After signing up and paying the $364 monthly premium for the first month, the rep put me through to someone who would take care of the details. This person told me who to contact with questions and filled out the final paperwork. This was all on 12/28/2022. By 1/18 I still had not received my member ID cards. I called CareSource with a simple request to get the cards and get my member ID. I was transferred 5 times in 1 hour and 45 minutes before I got to someone who could help. The last 2 people that I spoke to had such thick accents that I could barely understand them. 4 days later I received my cards in the mail. 2 days later I received the "Welcome" packet. It had dental cards included, but when I looked closely at it, it wasn't insurance at all, but an account where I would get services at a "reduced rate". The card specifically states on it "Not an Insurance". A day later, I received my first bill. The premium listed was $499! When I called to get clarification, it took another hour before I got someone who assured me that it was the correct premium I had agreed to and that CareSource did not offer vision or dental. I was floored and very angry. I hope this company is investigated. There don't seem to be any regulations for health insurance companies. Washington, please fix this! This is not "affordable" at all.
