Needed emergency funds. Spoke with Check-N-Go staff prior to signing 6 month loan documents and I was assured that payments can be made to principle allowing reduction in overall loan amount, interest and payment amounts. I made a payment 2 weeks into the loan and I called them to verify that it went straight to principle. I was told that we can only apply to principle on the day your payment is due and paid. Any additional amount can be applied to principle if I call that day to pay over and above my payment due. This turned out to be a lie. I tried to do the same for my second payment and found out that they never applied anything to principle. The supervisor told me that he would send me an amortization schedule to prove that my payment went to principle. It was a lie. Twice I was promised proof - all lies. I complained to Check-N-Go and reported them to ******** ******* ********** ******. The basically keep stating that I signed the documents. I keep stating that I signed under false pretenses and they are predatory lenders. My payments equate to nearly the amount borrowed. I asked for address to mail 65.00 due and 2 months of reasonable interest. Never received it. Informed my bank to disallow withdrawals from them.Business Response

We would like to thank *** ****** for contacting us regarding
her account, and the payment allocation/payment schedule associated with her
installment loan.
We completed an investigation into the matter and can
confirm that *** ****** obtained an Online installment loan on 3/3/2025 in the
amount of $3400.00. Within her complaint, *** ****** claims she was told that
paying additional payments towards her principal balance would lower the amount
of the remaining installment payments left on the payment schedule. A review of
the recorded phone call from 3/31/2025 confirms that *** ****** contacted us to
make a principal only payment of $700.00 and questioned how the principal
payment being made would affect the remaining payments left on the schedule.
The agent *** ****** spoke with confirmed that her $700.00 payment would be
applied towards the principal balance, however the remaining payment amounts
would not change. The agent then clarified that the duration of the loan would
be adjusted accordingly, and that the final payment amount would be lowered to
account for any additional payments made.
We would like to reiterate that the loan agreement *** ****** signed prior to accepting the loan advised her how payments would be
allocated. Her Loan Agreement states: “Payments. Each payment I make under this
Note will be applied first to any fees or other charges I owe to Lender other
than principal and interest, then to interest that is due, and finally to
principal. The actual amount of my final payment will depend on my payment
history.” “Prepayment. I may prepay any amount owed under this Note in whole or
in part at any time. If I prepay in part, I must still make each later payment
in the original amount as it becomes due until this Note is paid in full.”
We respectfully decline to alter *** ******** payment
schedule or payoff amount, as there is still an outstanding balance that is
required to be paid in full before the loan can be closed or satisfied. We
would like to remind *** ****** that she can pay off her loan at any time, and
that she can save on future daily interest added to the balance by paying off
her loan early. If she has any additional questions, would like to make a payment
or obtain an updated payoff amount, we would encourage *** ****** to contact Customer
Support at ###-###-####, and one of our friendly agents would be able to assist her.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.I was told by a 2 employees that my 700.00 principal payment was applied to principal, but my account balances did not change. I was going to make my second principal payment, but I needed proof that the principal payments were making a difference (even if it was taken iff the last payments). I was told twice that they would provide an amortization schedule as proof. I never received it. Then I was informed that I owed all the payments in full. This is ccontrary to reducing the obligation. I was lied to. That is why I didn't make the last additional payment to principal. It is obvious, that they never intended to lower the balances with additional principal payments. Since I was assured this by their staff prior to signing the agreement; my signing was under false pretense. I would have never signed the agreement knowing they would not reduce the interest and payments with additional principal payments.I asked for an address to mail the last 65.00 plus 2 months of reasonable interest to close out this account. I never received it.They'retelling you the same lies they told me. They never intended to act in good faith. I will neverdo businesswith them again.

This company has a third party harassing me for money that they say that I owe for a pay day loan. I have never borrowed almost $1000 on a payday loan.
If I do owe this money, this would have been over 15 years ago, if it is true I really don't remember
I asked the company to send me a certified letter to my mail so that I know that this is a legit charge from a legit company, they have yet to do so.
I remember since April of this year they have been harassing me wanting money through phone calls and sending me something through my email but nothing through the mail at my home. I have a bill now that I pay, a certified letter was sent to my home, with that bill I pay every month, since Feb, no problem
THIS so call bill I'm getting nothing, I just want proof in the mail so that I can get a settlement and start to pay what I DO owe.Business Response

I have never done business with this company but they have collections calling me saying I owe for a loan I never took out.
They are threatening to garnish my wages and that, not only will I pay the loan but also their legal fees and any/ all interest and late fees.
They have all my personal information but different addresses on file that I've never lived at.
I never received anything via post or email only these collection calls all of a sudden.
If I did not settle the debt right then on the phone I was told they'd see me in court.Initial Complaint

I was on a payment plan with Check N Go and was scheduled to pay them $75 on 4/6 and 5/6. I owed them $150 total. They withdrew $300 from my bank account. I called their customer service and they stated that they created a “ticket” and did not resolve the issue. No ticket #. All I want is my $150 back and a resolution! Even on their website on my account page, it says they owe me $150 (hence the -$150!)Business Response

We would like to thank *** ****** for contacting us
regarding her payday loan. We understand that there is some confusion with the terms
and conditions of her Extended Payment Plan (EPP), and we appreciate the opportunity to provide a response. We completed an investigation into the matter and can
confirm that *** ****** entered into an Extended Payment Plan on 1/3/2025. The EPP she agreed to contained a payment schedule consisting of four individual payments of $75.00 split between four months. Her due dates were 1/3/2025, 2/5/2025, 3/5/2025 and 4/6/2025. A review of *** ******** account confirms the first two payments were made successfully; however, payment #3 was returned by her bank on 3/10/2025. In her state, when the payment isn't made on the installment due date, the EPP defaults, and the state requires Check ‘n Go to initiate an ACH for the original balance due. In this instance, we initiated an ACH of $300.00 on 4/6/2025 after the previous payment was not successful. This attempt was also unsuccessful and the payment was returned by *** ******** bank on 4/10/2025.We respectfully decline to provide *** ****** with any sort of compensation related to this matter, as her account remains open and active with an outstanding balance due. On 11/25/24 I received a call about a Check n go payday loan that was defaulted in 2017 from a collector. To my knowledge I have never had a loan with this company. Then on 3/25/25 I received a call from a collector threatening to charge me with fraud and serve and sue me for an unpaid loan from Check n go. I contacted Check n go for clarification and their employee stated they couldn't find my name in the system as a customer nor any record of me ever having a loan with them, but the collector stated I owe a loan from 2017. The collector couldn't say an amount nor the month, nor any other information and when I requested additional information began yelling at me, accused me of lying and hung up on me. I called them back and that also resulted in a hang up. I am tired of dealing with this and am about to hire a civil lawyer to sue the collector and check n go for harassment and threats. To my knowledge both state and federal law prohibits collectors from threatening people, and I believe the statute of limitations is 4 years. Check n go waited 8 years to try and collect money that to my knowledge I do not owe. I asked the collector in November to send proof of the loan and provided them my email address. They told me they would send all the documentation via email immediately but never did. This last call I received on 3/25/25 could not verify an amount or date the alleged loan was taken out. Check n go has the authority to give the collector back their money and stop them from harassing me about a loan I have never taken. I have investigated this, and Check n go has done this across the country to many people. Check n go can say they sold a debt, but they are the ones claiming false loans and stating people owe money for loans they never had. If I or anyone for that matter had a loan with them why wouldn't they make contact a day after or a month after it was supposedly defaulted not 8 years later.Business Response

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to *** ******** complaint. After reviewing the information provided, we were unable to locate an account under *** ******** name in our system and can advise that Check ‘n Go has not contacted her regarding a debt. Based on her description, we believe the collection activity is a scam attempt. We want to ensure she has the tools to protect herself in such situations.
Here are some important steps *** ****** can take:
1.Request Debt Validation: Any legitimate debt collector is required by law to provide validation of debt upon request, including the amount owed and the name of the original creditor.
2.Protect Personal Information: Do not confirm or share personal details—such as your date of birth, Social Security number, or banking information—with anyone claiming to collect a debt unless you’ve received written proof of the debt.
3.Avoid Unverified Payments: Never provide bank or card information as payment unless the debt has been verified in writing and you are sure it is valid.
4.Place a Fraud Alert: To help safeguard your identity, you can place a fraud alert on your credit file. This notifies creditors to take extra steps to verify your identity before extending credit. Contact any one of the three major credit bureaus, and the alert will be shared with all three:

It is highly concerning and disappointing to encounter such persistent issues. The lack of proper handling of customer information by Check 'n Go has exposed me to repeated harassment from individuals claiming to represent collection agencies. Despite having paid off my loan over a decade ago, I was approached years later and pressured into repaying the same debt due to threats of legal action and damage to my credit. Now, this troubling scenario is occurring once again, despite my prior overpayment.
It is unacceptable for a company to fail in safeguarding its customers' private information, allowing such predatory actions to persist. I strongly urge Check 'n Go to take responsibility for protecting its customers by implementing stricter data security measures and improving their internal processes. No customer should have to endure repeated threats and undue stress over resolved financial obligations. This situation must be addressed appropriately and without further delay. I have included the last 4 of the account number. I've also already made a customer complaint who messaged me twice the same email but hasn't responded back.Customer Answer

As stated earlier, the bill in question was settled over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the email accounts that were linked to the original transaction, as both my ***** and **** accounts were deactivated by their respective servers due to inactivity.
Additionally, my bank’s records do not extend beyond five to six years, and as such, I am unable to provide documentation from the time of the payment. I find it concerning that Check ‘n Go continues to pursue this matter after such a prolonged period, especially given that it is highly probable that the payment was made in full over a decade ago.
It seems to me that Check ‘n Go is aware of the challenges customers face in retrieving such records after a decade and may be leveraging this knowledge to pursue long-expired debts. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated and resolved promptly.
Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your responseBusiness Response

We would like to thank *** ******* for contacting us regarding the
collection calls she has been receiving from someone claiming to be associated
with Check ‘n Go.
We completed an investigation into the matter and can confirm that
*** ******* obtained a retail payday loan on 12/1/2012 in the amount of $200.00. Our records indicate the loan was written-off
on 4/30/2013 and transferred to internal collections where it subsequently defaulted
(due to non-payment) and was sold to ********** Debt Holdings, LLC on 5/29/2013
with a balance of $265.00. At
that point, ownership of the debt and collection responsibility transferred to Huntington
Debt Holdings, and Check ‘n Go ceased all collection efforts.
Within her complaint, *** ******* advised that she paid a
third-party for this debt several years ago; however, we would not be able to
confirm or deny her claim- as we do not have access to the historical financial
records of the entity she paid.
To be clear, Check ‘n Go is not responsible for the calls *** ******* is receiving. Although we can
advise the calls are more than likely fraudulent; unfortunately, we cannot
control the debt collection/communication practices of companies other than our
own, and do not have the ability to prevent a third-party from contacting *** *******. If these types of calls continue, we would advise
*** ******* to obtain all available records from the entities she worked with
in the past to help substantiate her claim that this debt has already been
repaid. We would also recommend filing a
complaint directly against the company making the calls if they continue. Unfortunately, we would have no additional
information to offer- as we are no longer the owner of the debt in question and
have not contacted *** ******* since the date of sale.
We would like to reiterate that Check ‘n Go adheres to stringent
guidelines under both the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Gramm Leach
Bliley Act (GLBA) regarding the handling of consumer data. We have, and will continue to implement
safeguards which ensure our customer’s personal data remains private and
protected. If we can be of any
additional assistance to *** *******, she can contact us directly at ###-###-#### and one

On March 22, I attempted to reapply for a loan with Check N Go. I normally do this on a Saturday with no issues occurring. This Saturday I was denied. When I contacted CNG, they instructed me to send verification that I had paid my previous loan then reapply. I followed those instructions and then reapplied but still received a denial notification. I have attached the bank verification that I submitted showing that the previous account was paid. The denial; letter stated that I had an open account and I do not because it was paid.Business Response
