  If I could give 0 stars I would. We have been trying to cancel our Paychex account for about 7 months now. we have to call and call and leave messages because we can never seem to get the person were supposed to speak with on the phone. When we final get someone on the phone they promise to make sure it gets cancelled but the charges continue to come out month after month and they keep contacting me to run payroll although it’s supposed to be canceled. They continue take money out of our account causing it to over draft Because we don’t keep money in there since we don’t expect payroll to come out. They have refunded us once before and again making promises to cancel but next month nothings changes. We are absolutely furious!!!! It’s now looking like I may have to shut down my entire account just to get rid of these people. Never ever ever again will I sign up for service with them again.

  Paychex had messed up the payroll reports for my small business based in Iowa. Not only they were uploading payroll reports wrong on my state's tax filing website, but they also were not mailing anything as a backup. As a result, we had to amend, pay additional penalties for not filing in time, and file payroll taxes on our own even though we've been paying Paychex to do that. I also found out today the same had been happening on Federal Level as well because I received the letter from IRS that they received the deposit but not the report.

  We run a small trucking company and have used Paychex for several years and have had a number of issues. To start, pricing is very vague and tends to climb month after month with no explanation. Usually you can convince them to "discount" it but it is not easy. Second, they provide numerous "services" but do very little to actually help you utilize them. It seems their goal with each of these offerings is simply to bump prices higher. Third, customer service is among the worst I have ever seen. It seems they have hundreds of niche departments and none of them actually solve any issues. On numerous occasions we called for help and were transferred multiple times until we finally hit a voice mail box which never responded. Fourth, we are now in the process of closing our account out and it has been a nightmare. We have several contact who are supposed to help but none of them are reachable. When we do get in touch with them they refer us elsewhere then we inevitably get referred back to our original starting place. We have now spoken to the same two individuals several times regarding a couple matters which are still unresolved. Now we are sitting on an account which seems cannot be closed, is not active, and cannot be altered.
  My only advise for those considering any of Paychex services would be to watch your bills very closely because they will go up. Do not expect clear answers on why they go up just try and haggle them down. Do not expect good customer service - or any customer service for that matter. Finally, be prepared for the long haul, they make it extremely difficult to go elsewhere.

  DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
  At every turn, Paychex has been an absolute disaster. They sell you on their company by saying, "it's like having a part time employee" working for you, processing payroll. What they don't tell you is that your "part time employee" changes month to month. We processed payroll for 3 of our business for about 6 months and I'd say that they got (maybe) 3 pay periods right without major issues.
  They processed wrong reports, they overpaid by tens of thousands of dollars, you cannot have access to management, you're constantly given incorrect information. We separated with them 4 days ago and were told that we'd have access to our employees information (pay stubs, end of year tax info) for 30 days and that was an OUTRIGHT LIE. I have everything well documented in emails.
  Every paychex "specialist" that I have had the absolute displeasure of dealing with, including the sales rep who over promised to the payroll personal and management that under delivered (if you could call it delivering at all), should all be held accountable for the inconvenience and money loss to our business and our valued employees.

  10 negative. Worst company to deal with ever. They waste your time. Do not give product you’re paid for and make you work to prove each transaction. They were given all information yet, they want more. This is a scam service. Frustration levels of your employees will skyrocket.

  I used to work for a company that used Paychex. When I left, I planned to use ***** insurance through them and sent in the paperwork as soon as I received it. However, they had turned off the insurance and it took another 6 weeks and countless hours on hold with customer service begging them to turn it on so that my spouse could get critical medication. This was bad enough to receive a 0 star review on its own, however, they recently contacted me out of the blue with an "urgent issue." They sent an email with poor grammar and threats that they were going to send me to collections for an errant $150 HSA contribution that they made to my account over a year and a half ago. It seemed so much like a phishing attempt, I went through their website to respond to it in case they had been hacked. However, it was a real email and they immediately threatened to send it to collections if they aren't repaid for their error within 23 days. No documentation was given, just threats. I have not worked for this company for a year and a half and I used up my HSA a long time ago. This is a horrid company.

  Paychex fraudulently filed a report for our 3rd Quarter, they were made aware of this and still have yet to fix the issue therefore our actual payroll company can not submit our actual quarterly report. Paychex has yet to resolve the issue and has been contacted numerous times with a call back only once just confirming the complaint. I would not recommend this company and legal action will be taken if this is not resolved by the date they were given,
