I signed up for Pipedrive for its email marketing feature, Campaigns, and spent about a month importing contacts and building my CRM around it. The result of that month is that I am now locked out of sending campaigns to my entire database, including people I have done business with for 25 REMOVEDis what happened. I uploaded a small set of contacts, about 25, that came from agents who expressed interest in one of my listings through our REMOVED. I was upfront with support about exactly where they came from. Based on those 25, Pipedrive's compliance team enforced mandatory double opt-in across my whole account, which means I cannot campaign to any of my roughly 560 contacts unless each one re-confirms through a separate opt-in request. One sourcing question shut down my entire book.A few things worth knowing. My contacts are legitimate. Nothing was bought or scraped. I am breaking no laws, US email law is opt-out, not opt-in, so emailing these contacts is lawful. This restriction is Pipedrive's own internal policy, stricter than the law, and it is not disclosed anywhere in the marketing for the feature. It is only enforced through an account review after you have paid and done the setup. The part I cannot reconcile is that Pipedrive actively sells lead-generation and prospecting add-ons designed to surface contacts you have no relationship with at all. So the platform will help you find total strangers, but will not let you campaign to people you have worked with for years. That contradiction, plus the lack of any clear disclosure up front, cost me real time, money, and energy. If you rely on marketing to long-standing business relationships, understand these limits before you invest a month the way I did.
